Be careful with this drug people. I was changed onto this following a 75mg zopiclone and 2800mg sertraline overdose. Was fine for the first week then started getting aggitated around an hour after taking at night. Legs shake and sit up shouting in anger. I find myself reaching for 10mg of diazepam to make the symptoms pass. SEE YOUR DOCTOR WEEKLY IF YOUR ON THIS MED.
Personally I didn't like Mirtazapine at all. It made me feel numb, tired and overall shitty. I had trouble staying awake for more than 4 hours or so and slept up to 16 hours a day. This started the first day I took it and ended right after I stopped taking it. I was on a very low dosage by the way.
Mirtazapine does not make me fat, food will, just get yourself a plan of 3 meals a day and dont pig out. I dont know what this drug is doing for me i know its making me want to eat, drink and relax, but i dont i go exercise and eat normal, no weight gain.
@sxcgal1978 u r right... mirtazapine is a suicide prevention med, i was having suicidal thoughts on lexapro 20 but no intention to do it, im not suicidal at all as like to fight (and not make neighbors happy!) so take 7.5mg mit night and helps a lot
I'm weaning off of ativan. My screwed up Dr. let me take it for 4 years on an off... now I'm going through ativan tolerance withdrawal. I finally found a Psychiatrist who knew what was happening, my dumb ass Dr. said I was just having anxiety. BULL CRAP. It was the mirror effect of the stupid ativan! Anyways my Psych put me on Remeron (Mirtazapine) about a week ago, it has helped a lot! He's weaning me off the ativan slowly, and possibly mixing some klonopin to help wean. Love this dude.
@canotefilms I've been on Ativan for about the same amount of time, everytime another doctor hears of Ativan being used, thier like 'what the hell is the doctor using ativan for at high does. Can people get addicted if it used on and off?
this drug helped a lot with my insomnia and my appetite. It helped me gain weight which was good because I've always been super skinny and underweight. I took 30mg of remeron with 60mg of prozac.
Ive been taking it for over 2 years..I used to take it with sentraline but my doctor told me that i didn't need it anymore and could just take the mirtazapine...Even to this day it still helps me sleep tremendously
I've felt no different on it, but it helps me sleep. I still wake up sometimes for a second or two. All the side effects of this is nothing to me, because I felt everything you described before I even started on these meds. What do I do? I'm on 15mg at the moment. I'm constantly in a mood but no sure if I am? Does that make any sense?
this med was ok for my anxiety, but i tried all doses 15, 30, 45 mg. all had side effects which i found unpleasant,, the withdrawals were mania and dysphoria , worse than desvenlafaxine withdrawals but subtler
I was on Mirtazapine for 3 years, I was started on 15mg which was increased after a year to 30mg. I was 71/2 stone and am now nearly 13. I couldn't handle this anymore and stopped taking it 5 days ago I tapered to 15mg for a month then stopped. So far there is nausea but my sleeping surprisingly is o.k so far. This was a good drug but I did have shortness of breath which I associated with weight gain, I also had hyperglycemia and dizzy spells it will be interesting to see if this stops.
So it seems that doctors prescribe such shit to help you with one problem but such chemicals create a new branch of problems, and thus the dependency on the pharmaceutical industry is reinforced. I feel that more and more GP's are turning into nothing more than highly paid Pharmacists. Why bother going to medical school. Become a Pharmacist and hand the world all the nasty chemicals that you can possibly create in the lab.
hey doc iv just started the mirtaz 30mg nitly and totally stopped my venlafax 150mg daily is this ok plus im reducing methadone slowly on 56ml a day at mo came down from 80ml a day oh and i smoke a lot af weed too mainly cos i wasnt sleepin before the mirtaz but sllep good so far but ifeel all bunged up and my sinusis are swollon it feels like pls help ?
If you get a rash and if you feel that your brain is grinding to a halt (eventually, literally going numb), please stop taking Mirtazapine IMMEDIATELY as you are allergic to it. If you do not stop taking it, you are at high risk of serious brain damage caused by toxins which damage will have a massive impact on the rest of your life and you will be unable to take many, possibly well needed medications. I hope you feel better soon. ~God bless~
i found mirtazapine briliant for my low apitite and insomnia however this drug is only great if you dont have a job and you are able to sit at home all day eating sleeping watching jeremy kyle also my brother is a smack head and can pop 7+45mg tabs in 1 time and not sleep amazing lol
hey doc, I am currently taking mirt just upped to 45mg, do you think ven would be a good combo, I am still sturggling with depression and abit of anhedoina, my depression has been very bad, like my head is dead. Day by day I'am seeing slow improvements with this med, but I am really interested with adding ven or maybe lamictal. I am currenlty adding about 5mg of citalopram in the morning. cheers doc
Thanks for the video Mark, my psych in Australia prescribed me 60mg/day and while it was great i had horrible hunger and RLS. Saw that you thought >45 was way too much in your last mirtazapine video and dropped down to 30 myself and side effects went away without decrease in happiness. Psych wouldn't believe that the RLS was because of the mirtaz!
Remeron actually pulled me out of the deepest, blackest depression I had been in, very quickly. I got put on it during one hospitalization. It helped my sleep a bunch but exacerbated my RLS so bad I had to go on Requip. Didnt gain any while just on Remeron, though. I craved carbs like no other. Its when I went on Lexapro too that I gained 30 lbs. At one point I was up to 60 mgs/day, which was no good. Never had edema or SOB though. It pooped out on me quick.
I HATED this drug soooo much. It left me feeling drugged all the time, and I got so hungry I gained 9 pounds in one week! It also caused me to lose a lot of hair.
I can't even imagine mixing it with Risperidone. That drug was horrible for me, too. Weight gain, sedation, flat affect... bad, bad, bad.
Difficulty breathing? That makes so much sense to me now. I was always using my rescue inhaler on the stuff (I'm asthmatic).
as 2 sleeping part..i think it worked wonders.. it leveled my nights of sleeplessness into a 24 hour of sleep a day...so..wasn't really the perfect drug 4 me O_o
I've been on 45 mg mirtaz for about 7 years now and find it works well. It never helped with sleep (after more than 2 nights without sleep I resort to zopiclone). Also never got weight gain from it & it works very quickly. For me it has worked at least as well as fluoxetine or paroxetine. But maybe I've just been lucky. Different strokes for different folks. Tho my mother (83) was put on it after major heart surgery & it's helped her enormously. More cardiac friendly than most, I gather.
I was on 30 of mirtazapine , it didnt make me sleepy at all . I'm really hard to knock out for some reason . It made me cold as ice though .. really didnt give a crap about anything or anyone .. which was helpful at the time . I stopped it after a couple of months . It was an alternative to 150 mg of amitriptyline but i found amitriptyline made me feel kinda yukky and my tongue felt funny lol ... Right now i'm on nothing and i deal with my mindstate . Speak to the doc tho !! we're all different.
doc is right when he says mirtaz acts as an snri, y realized this after one day increasing my mirtaz dose from 7.5 to 15 mg along with 20 escitalopram and gave me panick attacks.... i can't handle more than 7.5 mirtaz with 20 lexapro...
Hi Dr , Hello from the UK , Im on Duloxetine 60mg and have just started Mirtazapine 15MG is ok to mix them both ? if so how much Mirtazapine can i go up to while taking 60MG of Duloxetine ? because i cant handle 90mg of Duloxetine because of the side effects , im also on Diazepam , and Zopiclone and promazine (when needed)
How are you Doctor Mark? You dont look very Happy, but you do look very hot thats probably why your shirt is unbuttoned...I HATE MIRTAZAPINE it makes you soooo FAT!!
That stuff is no joke for sleep, I was on 45mg at one time, and it made me sleepy in the morning. The sedation carried over into the morning/early afternoon. I knew some people during an incarceration period that took as much as 90mg at nightime, so you say that's not that safe/acceptable? They told me that they had significant daytime/early afternoon sedation as well.
Be careful with this drug people. I was changed onto this following a 75mg zopiclone and 2800mg sertraline overdose. Effexor works with mirtazapine because of dopamine.
Mixing buproprion with mirtazapine isn't recommended because of the stimulant effect.
Mirtazapine does not actually relieve depression - it has anti-histamine effects, which is mistaken with depression.
IMHO depression and anxiety are inspiration to relieve sadness with meditation to transform fear into respect.
Be sure to limit caffeine intake, because of anxiety.
