@BeantownJim Technically the cinderblocks are pylons as they are filled with cement, we might have gone a little overboard, but we have 5 tons of cement in those cinderblocks and in the footings.
@JeffABenner must be what that little round file is for... my cabin is a Prenokee replica, well, it's the same size anyway, we built it on a cliff so we have a front porch sort of thing, have a look at some of my vids one day if you ever get bord
@dirtTdude LOL, yep, that's what that little round thing is in the bottom of your toolbox :-). I've already checked out some of your vids, great work there. I'm watching your recent one now.
@LivingHistorySchool Just found your channel today, love it. I have done some buckskinning in the past and love the Mountain Man era. We are building a 1600 Sq Ft Cabin (a little big to call a cabin, but we still call it that). Yep, we have a large supply of trees on the property. I already have 120 cut and stacked (except for what is already on the cabin), but will still need more so will be cutting a few more down later. No axes here though LOL, we use a chainsaw :-)
Sounds like you tried to keep from having shaky video by putting it on a tripod first. Next time just give the kid the camera and see how that turns out, or maybe a drop of WD40?. lol
He did a great job though. I'm hoping to be doing this around this time next year. These will come in handy when the time comes.
@dunklaw When I watched the video I thought the same thing, "Gee I sure look like I'm getting close to my legs." But actually it is a little misleading, I am always aware of where my various body parts are, and other peoples, when working the chainsaw. So I think it is just the angle of the camera. Thanks for mentioning the jitter, I'll see what I can do in the future.
@TheGenuineChristian While doing the shooting of this video I didn't even notice they were being so "vocal." I guess we just get used to it. It sure sounds like they were excited though doesn't it LOL? Maybe they wanted to be in the video :-)
@JeffABenner When a hen makes that kind of noise it either layed an egg or is complaining about another chicken sitting on a nest not allowing her to lay her own egg. Remember, I got a bunch of chickens of my own in my backyard. =)
good job! Why not pilons instead of cinderblicks?

Interesting stuff. Careful with that chainsaw and bare legs though!
I think these videos need de-interlacing before being uploaded (notice the left/right jitter).
