not quite. Cliff was a really important part of Metallica (he taught them music theory for heavens sake) but Cliff wasn't Metallica. Cliff certainly influenced them but he wasn't all Metallica was.

...And Justice For All did not have Cliff as a major influence but it is still an amazing record. Yes, he did have an influence, they used some of his riffs but a majority of them were written by the rest of the band. Not Cliff.
