  • Nice. Thanks.

  • nobody beats software select for the best prices. they have alot of free software also. w ww.softwareselect. org

  • This review was really helpful and done well!

I'm looking into getting a light kit because I want to start a small studio with some friends.

    But I have a question.

Would this light kit work well with HD DSLRs, such as the 60D, 7D or 5D Mark II?

Would it produce any "banding effects"?

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!

  • I realllly want a ipod touch for christmas .... :(

  • I need some mark apsolon money

  • APENAS VI TUS VIDEOS Y ME GUSTARON ESTAN CHINGONES ME GUSTA MUCHO TU PRECENTANCION

  • These look like some great lights....bit too hot for my studio though.

You should look into reviewing some LED lights in the future, they seem to be nice.

  • Just bought these lights. The sender forgot the bulbs so I bought Philips 500w 120v bulbs at Home Depot. Popped them in, hit the red switches below and nothing turned on. Am I missing a hidden or something? lol Wrong bulbs?

  • Nevermind, I just tried them in the other light and it worked. Maybe the fuse is shot on the other one.

  • I like the information it does start talking really fast then settles and everything makes sense. Thanks. If I had the chance I'd buy 4 with the crane like accesori. Sad I went into the co. web page I can not find a link to the accesories....

  • cool!

  • cool video

  • Cool!

  • I have to say, I bought these lights and they are EXCELLENT

  • What about lights on a budget:) This looks very professional.

  • You are the best on youtube u rock!

  • I'm gonna buy this for my videos. Thanks so much for the advice.

  • My lighting always sucks.... wish I could afford the good stuff! =)

  • Hayy

  • nice job

  • Talk about camcorders like 24p HD what would you prefer in a camcorder

  • You'd be great on QVC. lol.

  • awesome!!

  • 5 out 5 for these lights? What, do you work for PBL? These lights suck! The clamp system can't even hold the weight of the light when the softbox is on, especially when hot. I recently had one of these lights fry on me. Smelt something burning, then sparks started shooting out from the back of it. The fuse holder melted to the housing! I wasted $500 on one of these kits. Briteks are better. Never had a single problem with any of my Briteks.

  • You are so good at editing.. wow

  • i love your editing Also GREAT vid!

  • very informative video on the mx light series.

  • 220V-240V to 115v use a voltage transformer , they aint cheap probably better to sell it on UTube it and buy a 110V model

  • Awesome

You really know what you are doing!

  • Loose the hat LOL

  • I got my mx series light. and in the specification says tha the light is 120v input. and mine came with a 220 input.

I cant use it now unless I get someone to set a 220v oulet.

    Any advise?

  • thanks Mark

  • thanks for the info your awesome and such an inspiration i use a greenscreen too but mine sucks

  • Thanks

  • possibly one choice for my first lights? its these or work lights.

  • awesome thanx 4 helping!

  • any idea where i can get a bargain for one of these?

  • Throwing on the favorite pile, Mark thanks for your help of late, I owe you.

  • Yes, because we are ALL millionares like you

  • hmm its you... what are you doing here?

  • Mark, I have 2 QL1000 softboxes and I am thinking about getting a 3rd light source as a hair light. I like the fanless nature of the PBL MX series. Can I mix and match these 2 different types of lights? They are both 3200K.

  • Mark I love your videos!

  • What mics do you use? I see no lavs, so are you using a boom?

    Thanks Bro.

  • GREAT VIDEO. YOUR LIGHT HAS THE PRIDE OF TWO GOLDEN SUNS IN THE SKY. also what kind of light was that?

  • pleza you r video software is what

  • its all in the lighting setup

  • can this be used with 250w halogen bulbs

  • I know you can find 300 watt bulbs for the work lights at walmart that will fit the lamps but I do not know about the 250 watt bulbs

  • @jambred i found a 500w at harbor freight for 9.99

  • are these considered indoore lights?

  • yup 2300K :)

  • cool. whats outdoor?

  • "outdoor" as in outdoor colored light (the sun). You ever turn your DV cam on inside and notice how the window light is all blue? That's cuz sunlight is higer freq - i.e. "cool" or shifted towards blue compared to the yellow (warm) colors of indoor (std. bulbs, etc) lights ("tungsten"). you can white bal your cam to either color, but unless you correct one light source (yellow filter the sunlight or blue filter the indoor), mixing them in one shot can make for ugly results.

  • i know. what kelvin?

  • how much are these lights?

  • Hey Mark, sweet video. Can't wait to try out those lights!

  • Hey Mark, I just bought a light kit and wanted to know if its any good. Its the PhotoSEL LS-21E52 Professional Studio Light Set. Google that and choose the top one (eBay)

Please review on it for me

  • I'll see if I can get some to review. They look a little like the cool flo but the housing is very different

  • I use those same stands for my green screen. They are prone to internal failure at least under heavy loads. I had to drill them and insert nails to compensate for the failed internal springs.

  • I would not use the stands for a green. They were made for lighter lights

  • I would like to make a small correction to your review. You cannot "focus" light with barn doors, only cut the beam to the right size.

    sorry, had to say that

    Steve

  • focus can be used in different ways. :0) but I get what you are saying..lol

  • Great review Mark! The HD version does look awesome.

  • And by the way, stunning in HD...wow..!

  • Had to drop back and give it the big 5..!

  • Mark, I hold you up very high in the youtube world, apart from great reviews, competitions and great content, your polite and mate I owe you..The little experiement is doing very well, I will send you a report soon, I have learned much about the power doing a tagging video..

    The Mad Bomber..

  • Great video and information ! Thank you for sharing

  • Thanks Mark, nice review! Cheers!

  • I'm pretty sure this would not only blow out the power in my apartment, but the entire building, the moment I plugged it in.

And if costs more than a steak dinner for two, it's a little out of my budget.

Still, a great vid for those in the semi-pro tier. Any tips for the rest of us? Like how to do lighting with household lamps?

  • its always good to switch things around on the breaker box

  • Great Video!! Look Into LED for something Cool,

    Thanks

    DJ Mikey Mike

  • I love the LEDs I'm trying to get my hands on one to review

  • i wish i saw this vid before i brought mine

  • which ones did you buy?

  • groovy movie mark!

  • Hey Mark,

How even is the light produced. That is one of the main reasons fresnels remain so popular. Very even lighting.

    Thanks for the review.

  • fresnels are great lights because you can focus the lighting in the direct area you need. Its great to have a few different types. a few of the smaller fresnels are always valuable too

  • better yet, if you can find a couple of Source Four PARNels they are AMAZING. They are really nice to have around and can be colour corrected with standard ROSCO filters ( I am sure that LEE and GAM also make these filters, but Rosco is what I use) to work with your other light kits. 500W is plenty for most video production.

very cool and worth the investment.

  • i love barn doors....

  • barn doors rock!

  • You should hold another contest for lights eventually.

  • he did do one a while back. maybe we get lucky and he does another one! i keep hoping so :)

  • just wait to you hear about the next contest :0)

  • Another good vid...

i got sick of my 500w light and went out and bought a heaps more now i got 2500watts and cant open my eyes

  • 500w laser that would cost thousands maybe you mean 500mw but even still that would be expensive unless its 1 without an IR filter

  • sorry you said light and i dont know why but i read it as laser

  • blinded by the lights :) you will like one of my upcoming tips and tricks for those work lights

  • what happen to the HD I'm getting spoiled with the High deff

  • its there Yt just takes a while for it to encode :)

  • Great review again, Mark.

  • very informative. thank you.

    5*

  • wouldnt having no fan also be a con? since it wont cool the system and the heat could harm it???

  • i don't think so. a lot like a shop light. just wouldn't want to pack it up while it's hot.

  • having fan is nice because it does cool the light but no fan is a plus in my book

  • Cool vid and very helpful :)

  • cool!

  • vary nice.

  • coolio!
