The PSP isn't much faster than the 2X, all things told (its standard speed is 222mhz, but can be overclocked to up to about 333mhz), but Sony released and developed the PSX emulator for the PSP themselves, so a bit of extra effort, knowledge and teamwork (zodttd is just one guy; the PSP emulator had a team behind it).

The Pandora is coming out... sometime... and I'm wholly unexcited. The 2X is one of the fastest things out there already, the Pandora is akin to a mini-laptop. Not excited at all.

I want it but i dont know much at all about the pandora. I don't know how to get games for it or anything so i basically dont know if it would be woth the large price. Im canadian so its worth more for me

That square thing can be fixed, that problem appears even on the best PC Playstation emulator with Silent Hill, there's an option (I don't remember what it is) that's usually set to "on" the video plugins for the emulator that needs to be set to "off" for Silent Hill...something like that might be the problem with the GP2X version. Still I can't believe it runs at that speed with 266mhz of CPU! the Wiz and the Pandora will run it a full-speed then!

266mhz is heaven compared to what the original PSX had! This game, with a perfect emulator (note the word "perfect") would run at the same speed as the PSX. That number is... (be prepared for a shock) a mere 33.8688mhz. That's right. Look it up if you don't believe me.

This is simply evidence that the emulator has a long way to go, and if zodttd keeps working at it, it should play everything flawlessly.

I knew that...but remember that to emulate a console you usually need a computer that's many times as powerful, the GP2X is BUT you can't run a PSX emulator at full speed say on a PC with 900mhz CPU and 128MB of ram or even 256MB so that's why I was saying. It must be because it's not running a million different services and such in the background, it's really amazing. Also this system came out in 2005 right? it's extremely powerful for a handheld...now there's the PSP of course...

MoonOvice is right: you can't simply compare an original hardware with a hardware that is emulating the original one.

You can't emulate PS3 or XBOX360 with a modern PC, although its capabilities are superior to the PS3's or 360's

It's like $170 or so now, but the GP2X "Wiz" is coming out next month which is almost twice as powerful and is much more powerful than the PSP...the only problem is that this one has a 3.5 inch screen while the new one will have a 2.8 inch screen.

i think his one of his older builds was faster i got mkt running full speed on that build like in june or something

I saw your post on the gp2x forum and you had link to you tube for the silent hill video.

The game looks slow but still it rocks i hope zodttd in the next build gets the game running faster.
