  • I think this is from the 4th of July 1991, not the 8th. Top of the Pops used to come on on a Thursday, and the 4th was a Thursday. The 8th was a Monday.

  • @blackmichael75 You are correct, and clearly the date I'd written on the sheet of paper with the video wasn't. Thanks for pointing this out.

  • aaaaaaah!!

  • Her voice is a mating call.

  • Unreal to think that Jurassic park was released just 1 year after this recording. How time shoots.

  • 70's & 80's Disco Diva Jocleyn Brown Rocks, you Go girl.

  • Disco Diva Jocleyn Brown Rocks, you Go girl.

  • That was a time, where singers were just singers, not a showcase

  • Amazing vocalist Jocelyn Is a classic singer...Always There.....#1

  • doesn't tough the original, but that gurl can SANG!!!!!

  • This is SOOOOO effin hot. Love this shit!

  • this shit rocks!!!!! timeless..... luv that song :)

  • Everyone mimes on Top of the Pops!!

  • @RAMBR0 If you watch her on TOTP but on the Todd Terry - Something's Goin' On track she sings live.

  • Love this track, Jocelyn Brown was so powerful here.

  • Im surprised no one has mentioned the version by Charvoni - check it out!

  • @tonybellamy To be honset i didn't know there was another version, probably cos of my age, im so used to this one.

  • one of the great incognito tracks ever,,,,got to be the JOSS,,,SING IT LADY

  • Top track JB but Man, you need to stay away from those bargain buckets.

  • LOVE the half assed implication that waify red haired grunge girl on 'keyboards' is actually contributing the back up vocals...which obviously took four powerful black divas like jocelyn to record!!!!

  • @mk202 I think it was the Waters sisters ( Maxine & Julia Tillman) and Jocelyn herself on background vocals.

  • Well you can't exactly mime playing the drums. You can mime the trumpet, or the keyboard, or the bass guitar, but with the drums you either hit them or you don't! Fair play to him for making himself heard. I wonder if any of the real Incognito are there with Jocelyn?

  • I saw her live on Sunday at an intimate gathering, trust me her voice is amazing and pure! I was blown away Love her

  • @emdob That must have been wicked, whereabouts was this.

  • what a voice

  • Sing your azz Jocelyn. I love this version. Of course, I loved the original by Ronnie Laws, and then the Great Side Effect, but this one is awesome, and I was just turned on to it, by a brother from Spain. The power of Facebookl

  • wauwwwwwwwwwwwwwwauwwwwwwwwwwww

  • love her and her music! so cool!

  • If you like this, then Check out the original vocal version of this song. By "Side Effect" 1978. Came out a few months after Ronnie Laws version

  • nice to hear the voice of Jocelyn Brown.

  • good song

  • How many times has this group changed its members

  • No word to say about this singer..... I love her!

  • wonderful - I love the Group and the song - thanks for the video

  • Fantastic voice......such power !!

  • Best voice ever with Aretha e Janis

  • Remember dancing at the school disco with a beautiful girl to this... great track!

  • miming ???? never

  • It was playback exept Jocelyn, she was singing for real, great and powerful voice, amazing!!!

  • @nylon71 Jocelyn was definitely miming on this performance - the only bit that's "live" is the sound of the drummer over the top of the audio.

  • @skytoweruk It's all playback. The drummer is just playing along but the audio that was broadcast is all playback. You can tell this from the lack of microphones on the kit. It must have been rubbish for the audiences at the show.

  • @DrumMasterT Sort-of correct in that it is playback. However... generally, drummers are not as audible as they are on this performance - particularly the cymbals. Check a similar TOTP performance, "Fascinating Rhythm" by Bass-O-Matic, and you might understand the point I'm making...

  • @DrumMasterT indeed its impossible for a drummer to play with audio playback in sync like that without a click track on headphones

  • @nylon71 sorry you're wrong, its all recorded playback bar the drums you hear

  • @nylon71 - She was miming sadly :(

  • Jocelyn Brown's tone is amazing.. love her!

  • if you like Incognito, check us out! We have a CD with Mike Stern on 4 songs and cool live videos at a Jazz Festival :)

  • she can get down on this song!!!

  • Brilliant song. Always There!!!! Go on Joceylen Brown!!

  • What a real throwback!! Look at Bluey's hair and stache, lol

  • Chooooooooonnnnnn!!!!!!

  • she is awsome

  • she my latest discovery i have a feeling i'm going to have another fave singer after a couple more vids of her

  • She has raw talent...amazing delivery!

  • its a shame this was a playback performance cos that girl could sing! and incognito are great musicians but its totp's rules i suppose

  • She was at Gay Pride in SF in 2004 and rocked the City. Go Jocelyn!

  • Lay it down, Jocelyn. ...Lay it down

  • WOW! What a power in her voice!

  • She is the best

  • Class

  • was totp on a monday night

  • I had the pleasure to see this big soul diva... what a voice

  • SOLD OUT SOLD OUT

  • playback

  • ragazzi che voce!!

  • what a voice ! ! !

  • Heavenly voice... But the original tune is by Ronnie Laws, guys..

  • @Bianteowns I'm knowin! Had it on 8 track in the 70's!

  • @Bianteowns I thought it was a lady from the 70's that had the song first, and then came the jazz version, it was more like disco/soul

  • @Bianteowns Thanks for saying that. I couldn't remember who did it first...after Incognito did it, Bluey sort of made it their theme song.

  • @Bianteowns...that's true, Rinnoie Laws did the original as an instrumental. She's ctually singing the lyerics from the group "Side Effect's" vocal version of the song. So, she's doing a remake of a remake.

  • @Bianteowns That's true ...Ronnie Laws made it first.

  • TIMELESS ANTHEM!!! Lovin the shoulder pads! haha

  • WHAT A TUNE! Timeless, and is there anyone on earth with a better voice?

  • Right, it's one of the most incredible black voices I ever heard

  • It's just ace.

  • My second most favourite track of all time.......it captures a magical time for me when i was in my early teens. This song makes me really happy.......

  • Love this song reminds me of clubbing back in the early 90's, Jocelyn's voice is like the minimoog of vocals, cuts through everything - amazing!!

    Thanks for sharing ;-)

  • This is one of my favorite singers singing one of my favorite songs. I don't care what you say big girls rock!!!

  • god i wish i has a voice like hers...

  • Look at Bluey's hair do, he he!! the 90s . . .

  • What a classic!!!!!

  • Ke bella e ke nostalgia dei mitici anni '90!!! Un capolavoro!!!

  • love this song it always put me in a good mood when i hear it.

  • This is one of my favorites by Incognito. Jocelyn is lip sinking, though. You know that, right? Still hot.......

  • Fantastic! Jocelyn and Incognito are an amazing couple!

  • Amo a este grupo soy su fan num 1 en Mexico, es un placer escucharlo junto a su majestad Jocelyn Brown excelente cancion wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I had a fight outside wimpy with the drummer for saying he looked like the Chief from one flew over the cuckoos nest, he gave me a sound beating let me tell you.

  • LOL. In fact he does! Bu why would you tell him that? :P

    Great performance, BTW!

  • Well two reasons I was drunk and on a date, trying to look cool, and perhaps the main reason was back then I was a real jerk, I like to think though that its kinda cool to have been assaulted by afamous musician.

  • ha ha ha ha!!!!!!

  • ♪♪♪

  • oooh gary davies, where are you now you big nosed cunt?

  • This is great, JBs vocal man-eating growl is legendary, absolutely perfect. However, Ronnie Laws 70's original is different and very special ,a truly original laid back masterpiece. Doesnt seem right to even compare them, just enjoy them when whichever mood suits.

  • This is from the Incognito Remixed Album Jocelyn Brown does a great job with this one with that growling voice

  • Love Jocelyn B. I just googled her and didn't realize that she sang Caught up in a One Night Love Afair. That was that jam when I was just in Jr. High.

  • QUALITY TUNEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • she rocks!

  • I Love this

  • FAN TAS TIC. INCOGNITO. THE BEST

  • What a tune! A tune largely forgotton in time now I'm affraid.

  • love u jocelyn your a legend,

as for you Gary!!! nice cut :-[ )

  • Hmm, I never heard this woman before now.

I wonder why she is no longer with Incognito?

    She is clearly gifted.

  • Jocelyn Brown is one of the discodivas along with Loleatta Holloway, Gloria Gaynor and Donna Summer to name a few. She recorded with groups Change and Musique as an example and of course by her own name. It's worth to get to know, you won't disappoint. By the way: the group Side Effect made this ( Always There ) earlier, in '76. Their version is the original and is too very good.

  • Ya know your history! It was also an instrumental version by Ronnie Laws brother of jazz flutist Hubert Laws...

  • Sorry Tiituk you're wrong. This song was written by Ronnie Laws and is for saxophone. It has no lyrics. This is a great version but the best version is by a trio of saxophonists but has sadly been taken off You Tube. If anyone has ir can they put it on please.

  • Great clip, Bluey looks like he's about to start a minicab shift!

  • He's a funky one all right :-D

  • Guh werked that song out. Classic. Thanks so much for posting this performance.
