I don't disagree. He's mostly been cast in "tough guy" mob roles or roles akin to that lifestyle, with a few exceptions. Deniro has depth but not much breadth. In his characterizations you can get by the less than stellar method (nowhere near Brando or DeCapprio) but you can't deny the nuances he brings to his characters; especially earlier in his career. Taxi Driver still ranks as one of his best...and he was a pyscho New York cabbie.
