  • best series ever!!!!!!!!

  • may ur swords stay sharp! omg im a BIG fan of this guy.YOU INSPIRE ME TO DRAW EVERY CHAPTER FROM UR BOOKS! i finised eldest, eragon, and brisngr

  • Gotta wait til Friday to get Inheritance. Fuckin sucks

  • Book>Movie

Also when i first saw the movie i never knew a thing about the movie, confusing as hell on some of who the people are if uve never read the book and watchd the movie.

  • I liked that video game four books good books

  • Movie sucked books great books but the only reason to like a little bit of the movie was because of Jeremy Irons who played Brom

  • penis

  • good books, but a terrible movie

  • Im 15, I love his books. Sorta want to take up writing again. .__.

I use to write often but quit.

  • Eragon was cool when I was younger, because, like he said, it's a coming of age story. Eldest was cool too, but by Brisingr, I realized there wasn't that much else to it. However, I can see that he matured immensely as a writer in Inheritance. I also need to give him major props, for both his imagination and his drive to get this thing published.

  • Really? The Gedwey Ignasia was an "e" shaped scar? I don't remember seeing that, stupid movie.

  • I'm 14 and writing a book. He gives me hopes.

  • If you want to watch christopher paolini's edmonton inheritance signing tour you can check it out on my channel

  • love how it was still a trilogy then. the fourth book was the best by far!

  • forth book was just... phenomenal...

  • he's a nice kid

  • I so love that guy even if I'm a boy and I'm not gay! I admire tolkien too, I only read book 'the hobbit' but it was awsome! I'm a pole and I usually read in polish and I got the hobbit from my mum's firend at Poland (I live in England for 5-6 years) and it was so wasome that I couldn't stop reading! then I found a polish book shop some where in Northampton were I live and when I saw Eragon I new it is going to be amazing, after I finished it I went onto Eldest and now I'm reading it.

  • @szanten13

When I was reading Eragon when Eragon and Brom (? don't know if it's this in the English version) I started to suspect that Brom is a dragon rider (?) and I was suspecting it before when he started to tell all these stories about them but when they run away and he did all that stuff with Eragon I was 90-95% sure, I got an amazing imagination ( I'm kind of an allowner, outsider (what ever you call it and yes your right, mostly because I'm polish...) and people like that have better...

  • @szanten13 Imagination but I am rubbish at writting properly with all that similies and metaphores, see ya guys love you!

  • @szanten13 The third is epicness.Eldest is very boring in the beginning.I gave up on it the first time i read it.It gets more exciting. The third i love.I'm on the fourth and nothing really exciting has hapened.

  • haha I love this kid (:

  • @axiwan2 I agree with you wholeheartedly

( Is that the right word in English?)

  • im 15 and im re-writing the draft of my book, hope to edit and publish it by next year!

  • I love the books. Don't know what they where thinking with the movie. I think it's probably the worse book to movie adaptation I have seen.

  • In my opinion best books ever. I try to forget the movie. 1day until it all ends!!!

  • That movie SUUUUUXXXXXXXX

  • He just got $7.99 from me for the book

  • Shame that the film wasn't better written and closer to the book sure it would have been great then

  • He is inspiring to me,he is the one that helps me write my book but i started at a younger age (last year i was 13 so im 14 now and 13 is when i started to write)

  • I thought Christopher Paolini was some old guy.

  • i still think that the movie could be better, he didn't sound like he mean't, for both the game and the movie. shame that won't have the continuation of the movie (most likely)

  • Them movie was better than the book

Because the movie was only 90 minutes long

  • so i hear the movie sucked. why is the book so great?

    just curious haha

  • @ballwizard6 the movie sucked for people who have read the book because it was an askew reflection of the book and it changed and left out many of the things that made the book sooo good. The movie sucked for people who only saw the movie because of the cheesy acting and enourmous plot holes. It was just eye "candy" and held no "nutritional value". Eye candy can be good but not by itself :]

  • @thegreatbernardo well i hear bad things about the book cause he ripped off starwars or whatever, but i mean there must be something great about the books that makes ppl love them so i guess it cant be bad

  • I wish I had that kind of support growing up. He's a great author. DRAGONS! They are the nuclear weapons of the fantasy world.

  • "While other kids his age were applying for college, Christopher Paolini was publishing his first book" -- What fifteen year old has already applied for college?

  • 1:10 why do you think your story is appealing to so many people?... because, it's the same as Starwars perhaps?

  • I sound just like him!

  • I've read the lotro series and let me tell you now, it's nothing like it. Other than the fact that it's an adventure series that has dragons, dwarves, and elves in it.

  • Eragon was excellent book and I am half way through eldest at the moment

  • Wait I take back what I said the book eragon was kinda interesting.

  • I read eragon when I was eight. As far as I can remember it was boring. ( i picked it up because the movie was awesome) 13 now was excited for eldest ( forgot I found the first book boring) I couldn't get past page 64. Im sorry mr.Paolini I'll try again when I get older :-( Now Im reading paradise lost. It's awesome.

  • @jono21198 i read eragon,eldest,and brisingr when i was 10 and finished the last one yesterday. :)

  • 1 in the morning? i posted this comment at 3:40 in the morning, and i'll probably end up staying up another hour.

  • holy crap, THAT'S what he sounds like?!!

  • Oh and he didn't copy the LOTR, there are similarities bt there are similarities with nearly all fantasy books. In all the plot is fairly different that LOTR if u think about it

  • @Alex111119 He copied names and characters and things from LOTR. The plot he took from Star Wars.

  • He only saw the movie for publicity, I'm sure he hated it

  • @Alex111119 ANYONE who has read the book will hate it.

  • @Alex111119 so how are the books better than the movie?

  • @Alex111119 in this interview it sounds like he loved it LOL

  • @Alex111119 yeah, hahaha have you listened to his opinion on the movie? He clearly can't say that it sucks, but he wants to. :P

  • he must have been devastated when he saw the movie...

  • I love him!

  • i wonder if jk rowling plays the harry potter games. if i wrote a book and a game cam out of it, i would have them mounted on a wall along with the books and movies

  • the forth book is out. Inheritance

  • @Briyanaism no

  • While im not going to argue that there are similarities in Eragon to Star Wars and LOTR, you guys do realize that EVERY fantasy book is similar to some other fantasy book while being completely unintentional. Hell, even Tolkien was borrowed stuff from mythology and older stories like that.

  • @purpleshamrock17 There is a difference between being inspired and COPYING

  • @SuperHeroMania oh please so much has come out its nearly impossible to make something without it appearing to be similar to something already made. the general plot is good and no one has done that exact thing yet

  • @slipspacer88 I agree

  • The author said there would be three but there is gonna be a fourth one. I'm reading Brisingr right now and it rocks. I can't believe Murtagh is Eragon's bro. That interview sucked. The movie followed the book, but they took out the part

Were eragon got captured and the part with Jeod and the Sethir Oil

  • OH MY GOSH! I wish people would stop complaining for once. The internet makes us all so mean . . . I really enjoyed all of Paolini's books. I mean, don't you wish you could write like that at fifteen? He may have familiar story lines and races in his book, but in a fantasy books like these, there are only so many resources you can draw from! Why can't people just enjoy the books instead of whining about how they were written? Gosh, sorry. I needed to vent.

  • @thethreeshahls Well, technically Eldest and Brisingr were years later :) He also had lots of editing when Random House took him up, or was it Knopf? Either way, he is an impressive author, who, despite taking many story elements (subconsciously or not), can tell an interesting story. I can't wait to be up against him. And yes, the Internet gives us that "virtual reality" syndrome where we think we can treat people however we wish without consequences. Fortunately, not everyone is like that!

  • @thethreeshahls i agree with u people for once need to stop complaining ang just enjoy whats there

  • @thethreeshahls i agree with u people for once need to stop complaining an just enjoy whats there

  • Can't believe that guys Star Wars-LOTR cross over fanfic got published.

  • Similarities aside, it's not a carbon copy of either. He was FIFTEEN when he wrote these books. The vocabulary and grammar he used at that age is unparalleled to anything YOU have probably ever written. And if you actually READ the book, he goes out of the way INTENTIONALLY to point out differences between his story and LOTR. He created an entire mythology for elves, dragons and even an in depth theology for the dwarves in his books. But because it has elves and dwarves, it's a a ripoff, right?

  • @TheOnlyxOne88 Your comment gave me a good laugh, thanks for making my day just that much better. "In depth theology" LOL. I suggest you go pick up the Silmarillion to see what a real "mythology" is. His Elves are Tolkien Elves. His Dwarves are Tolkien Dwarves. His plot is Starwars word for word. He STARTED the book when he was fifteen but finished when he was older.

And guess what? I have all three Inheritance novels. And I've read them twice. But I was twelve and thirteen then.

  • @warmsteel

    We should!

  • The movie did not do the books justice!! Please, someone with talent make the books into a TV series like Legend of the Seeker!!!

  • Inheritance is the fourth and final book in the Inheritance Cycle written by Christopher Paolini, author of the first three books in the cycle: Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr.

will be released on November 8, 2011

  • WHOOO! BOOK 4 OF THE INHERITANCE CYCLE IS COMING OUT NOVEMEBER 8TH!!!!!!!!! AND ITS CALLED INHERITANCE

  • the movie sucked...the book rocked

  • HAHA what a loser. who knew someone without balls could write such a good book.

  • @p51spittinnails and you are of course the most badass person in the world who've written 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 books.

  • Comment removed

  • lol i thought the dragon was named eragon

  • @MzImpossible0 same here

  • i loved the movie when it first came out. i saw it and then read eragon and eldest in the week following. after reading the books...i realized what a flop the movie was. i still like it, but i also think the movie could of been a LOT better. they should redue it, and make it better.

  • NERD but good book

  • i actually thought this book was going to be boring but once i stared reading them i absolutely love them

  • this is one of the best books i ever read.

  • He's a nerd, but a cute one! Notice he's avoiding the question...DO YOU LIKE THE MOVIE CHRISTOPHER?

  • He's a nerd, but a cute one!

  • It was a total copy from other stories...could be lot better. Sad thing. :(

  • I watched the movie before I read the book and Brom will always be that guy to me, but Paolini hurry up with book 4, I'm getting restless waiting years for it!!

  • Play the video. Press 2 repeatedly.

    lulz

I like how awkward he is

  • Listening to Christopher Paolini talk very nearly ruined the book. Then I realized, I don't care about him so long as the last book ties it up nicely. If he blows it, I may mail him some dog crap.

  • his voice is just so funny... he sounds like such a nerd. anyways, yeah the movie was rushed, left out about half the book, and was just terrible.

  • i loved the books and the way they made the movie just descraced it because they left out to many of the important details like the fact the arya is supposed to go with eregon to elesmera but in the end of the movie she leaves

  • ahhh, but Christopher took clichies and old, known ideas, and wrote them well.

  • i this book even good? just wondoring, because I heard it was crap like Gloria Tesch Mardonia. But is it good?

  • @booksarefriends101 from what i hear. The movie is not near as good as the book. im reading the third book at the moment and when i read i cannot stop reading it until i can finally get to a point in the story to where their resting. i read it every night for 3-4 hours and it is just amazing. Trust me if i had to recommend my three favorite series i would say the percy jackson series, last Dragon Chronicles, and the Eragon series

  • I thought the movie was ok. Nothing amazing, but some great ideas and although nothing like the book it was still better than a fair number of films out that year. It'll never get a sequel due to it costing 100mill to make and only making 24mill i hear.

  • i would be pissed if that shitty movie was made from my amazing book

  • Paolini is nothing but a copier, and and a cheat

  • @HardikG121 Thats a pretty strong statement. How is he a cheat etc?

  • @darrenmsparrow read from tomfooler123 and you can see why

  • @HardikG121 There are no new ideas under the sun. The wise elder teaching the young learner is common throughout all of history and books down the ages have had this same idea. We could have said that when The Sword Of Shanara came out it was a ripp off of Lord of the Rings, but we all know better than that. Perhaps some of the ideas are cliche, but Paolini does bring this off well. What I would say to Tomfooler123 and others is to go and write their own version, it's not that easy.

  • @HardikG121 Don't believe anything that Idiot says. read the book before you go crying about your opinion. We don't want to hear you crying about how you didnt like it. Thats your opinion so stop stating to the world at this author is horrible. Did he really use all the ideas from those books. LOTS of books have those ideas in them and he used them not to copy but he made the story into his own not using all the other ideas. he used Magic but you hear Magic in lots of Fiction. Think about it.

  • @Kirronable I HAVE read the book. Inspiration is one thing, pretty much having the same plot line is another. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but really, I don't think Christopher Paolini is a good writer, and I feel he is simply getting rich off of everyone's ideas.

  • @HardikG121 You do realize that the same could be said about almost every book? Most action/adventure books involve a main hero trying to stop a villian. And it's also a fantasy. Fantasy all tend to have the same general feel as well. But the thing is, he took them and made them his own, which is the most you can ask for.

  • @HardikG121 look-up "The Hero's Journey" also known as Monomyth, its an "out-line" or basic plot of many epic poems, & many other works of fiction (like Star Wars) Paolini also uses this in his books which is why a lot of people who don't know about it say that Paolini ripe-off Star Wars, also look-up The Worm Ouroboros LOTR uses Norse Myths as its base & C.P. also use a lot of the same myths, also Linnëa (The Menoa Tree) is like Yggdrasil (The World Tree form Norse Myths)

  • @147Night

There's a difference between following the outline and almost following the plot beat for beat. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. But it did take a lot of clear influence from the story of Star Wars and the mythology of Lord of the Rings.

  • @HardikG121 In my opinion Paolini is a lot better at writing then a lot of authors.

  • Ha, he looks EXACTLY as I pictured him.

  • Paolini is garbage doesn't have one original idea and plagiarizes other ideas. You can link everything in his book to something someone already came up with I don't mean inspiration I mean blatant stealing. Mainly from Star wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter and more. He's a discrace to authors and literature as a whole.

  • @tomfooler123 Look at all the other stories out there and maybe you shouldnt criticize his books. maybe you should consider the fact that he was 15 when he made the book. Look at the fact that it might not just be a walk in the park to write a new story. how does it steal from them? Magic, Swords? Those are used in a lot of books smart one. You really cannot change the fact about that. you send the wrong idea to other people. keep your opinions to yourself if your going to be that descriptive..

  • @tomfooler123 write your own book then. Come on.

  • Ya how do u graduate from high school at 15? you would have had to skip like 3 grades

  • Hey guys, I'm promoting my upcoming debut novel MATHION: BOOK ONE OF THE MAVONDURI TRILOGY. Check out the promo and part 1 of a video interview series leading up to the release! I'm really pumped about it, and I hope you all stop by TheMavonduriTrilogy on YouTube!

  • I loved the first book, adored the second, read the third and it was just..... urgh.

  • Elves, dragons, evil kings, coming of age.... sounds kinda familiar?

  • It is insoirational to see how someone can become so widely recognised, and his works so widely acclaimed. My own fantasy novel, Demon Gates, while written a long time before Eragon and many other contemporary novels, will hopefully find a place in the hearts of fantasy readers both young and old. Don't criticise him for being cliche or for writing like so many other authors, praise him for expanding the realm of fantasy.

For a similar read, check out Demon Gates at amazon and smashwords

  • I loved the movie! I've read all the books and now I plan to be an author myself. I've already finished my first book, called Shadow of the Past, I plan to type it up and publish it. I love to write! The Movie Eragon was so good to me that if I could watch it every day, I would do it back-to-back for hours if I could.

  • the movie sucked everything to eragons hair color to saphira's wings which are suppose to be sinuous , like velvet , but here there feathers , and brom is what like 50 , and wtf with saphira regularly breathing fire when shes not suppose to breath fire till the very very very end and saphiras voice is wrong and bah blah blah im rambling but its all true.

  • @MyLIfeStudios I agree that the movie was terrible and didn't go at all with the book but I did think that the person who played Braum was perfect but thats just my opinion.

  • chris is a little bit of a nerd, however a fantastic talent at the same time

  • haha "applying to college... having fun." yeah, lady, those two things don't usually go hand in hand.

  • Can't say I liked the books all that much, and the movie was absolutely terrible, but I gotta say, Paolini is adorable. :D

  • LMAO no one is going to read it bcuz u cant even write a youtube comment in english.

  • @soxnation3419 I'am Dutch. Im write it in dutch not english.

  • i will have a spasm when i hear the final book comes out, then i will cry curl up and die after readng/re-readin it a zillion times: the awesomeness will b over! :'(

  • Book cool movie was shitty Game I beat though 4 times but i liked it if I had to pick one thing I liked from the movie they did Brom okay I liked Brom best

  • ♥ u Paolini ^^

  • God I hate this insufferable little arrogant shit. Fuck you, Christopher Paolini. Fuck you hard.

  • @truthspeaker89 fuck YOU, asshole.

  • Eragon was one of the worst books I've ever read. The writing was terrible and the only reason it became such a huge success as a novel was because his parents worked for a publishing company =/

  • @xIvoryAngelx WTF? ERagon was a great book, what a terrible book, read Twilight. That is shit.

  • @lhsbonez well she got a point about his success

  • @dragongame2 so he had connections? Who cares? It was still HIS writing and plot that made the book great. It wasn't the publishers that made it famous, it was the readers!!!!!!

  • @lhsbonez well thats what inspired me to make my book because even I dont have parents who can publisch a first version. I still write and make the plot. but how do you get readers, you gonna promote your book. and also publishers are promoting your book because they make mony. but yes you are right about that he write it and the plot you need some skills creation and own fantasy for that. but he everybody needs some help!!

  • @dragongame2 no duh, and he had the help. So what? People shouldn't be hating him because of that. It's immature and stupid. God blessed him with writing skills and a family that helped publish his work. He used his skills and if people don't like that then they are either jealous or just plain idiots. I guarantee you EVERYONE would use their parents publishing company if their parents had one and they (the person) was an excellent writer. Hating Paolini because of that is wrong.

  • @lhsbonez I don't hate paolini, why should I hate him? he inspirate me because his young age to write a fantasy story. well I don't belief in god but yes he got writing skills and a family. I only got writing skills. My dutch teacher (im dutch, so sorry for bad english) told me when say read homework of my about a book you need to create a story about: If you read the first lines you know he is a teacher. Paolini is great the story was in his mind, you dont need parents for that.

  • @dragongame2 I wasn't talking about you, in general all those haters on here posting their stupid comments. I am a Proud Jesus Freak.

  • @lhsbonez good lord, thanks jesus, Im not a hater. I like Eragon and paolini. In fact im reading eldest. I never say it sucks or else I only say she got right about the succes (only a short part of it).

  • @dragongame2 I am reading Eldest as well, what a coincidence. This is what my 5th time reading it? lol I thought you didn't believe in God?

  • @lhsbonez lolz my first time. I know about Eragon this summer. Well I do not , but I like jesus he is ok. and religions like greek and roman are fine to

  • @xIvoryAngelx lol thats not true at all

  • @xIvoryAngelx that's huge bullshit. the book was very well written and engrossing and wonderful. and your allegations make no sense. true, his parents could've played a part in the initial publishing of the novels, but if the book was shit, people wouldn't have loved it this much. so shut the fuck up, you little troll.

  • @lilbluehersheykiss Wow how old are you? Twelve? There's no need for that kind of language (or insult). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you think the book was great, then that's awesome and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Everyone needs to enjoy a good book. However, people also need to express their own opinions. And that is what I was doing. If you can't handle that without resorting to insulting me, then you will have a very hard time in real life.

  • @xIvoryAngelx way to condescend to the 12 year olds of the world.

  • I plan to be an author thank you, AND I'm 12. I've already finished my first book. 12-year-olds may be young, but we're smarter than we look, thank you very much :P

  • @bookluver894 i have no doubt that 12 year olds are very intelligent. however, most 12 year olds will suck at plot line like paolini did. it's ok, i mean, i wrote a book when i was 12 and it sucked too. well, i didn't finish it. if you want to see what i mean in detail, watch my eragon video. it explains stuff.

  • @bookluver894 That is so awesome! :) I started writing my fantasy book when I was 14. I'm 18 right now and still writing...

  • Eragon is the most unoriginal book i've ever seen.

  • I like his smile. :)

  • I'm a homeschooler who graduated at about the same time, but I wasn't applying to college! XD

Get your facts straight lady! lol

  • haha i think its funny how paolini didnt actually say if he liked it or not. he was actually kicked off the set of the movie

  • he can speak dwarven

  • @lumpyfishful

    wut

  • He probably didn't wanna say he didn't like the movie...I would think he didn't.

  • People refuse to admit that he wrote the 1st draft of the book at 15, but it wasn't officialy published and seen by a real editor until he was 17 or 18. The book went through many changes and should have become better as he was older. I've been writting for years and I know my writing improves in the span of 2-3 years. It shows that he didn't change his book before it was officialy published

  • I don't like this guy, he seems phoney - -

  • Just oh dear at that movie

  • the movie was crap

  • @xXmafia77Xx , the movie wasn't cr@p. IT WAS $%!&!!

  • @xXmafia77Xx IKR they didnt even mention katrina or roran, Never gonna be a second one cause of that.

  • @xXmafia77Xx the book is crap i couldnt get past the first page

  • @MzImpossible0 So you didn't read the second page yet go on to say whether it's good or bad? Are you fucking retarded? Because you just made yourself look retarded.

  • it prob was hard for him not saying his gonna make a 4th book XD

  • Wow, when you split it up like that in a trailer, Eragon the movie doesnt totally blow! lol

  • im pretty sure i wasnt thinking about college when i was 15 years old lol

  • @soxnation3419

Ya I was thinking about girls and cars....

Writing a book or college did not cross my mind.

  • @soxnation3419 where did u thinking about? before reading eragon I read this summer a year ago. age 16. I got also a fantasy story im my head. now A year later Im now 17 im writing chapter 4. I realy hope I finish it. It is in my head it must get out even it wont be populair or what ever. if you wanna know whats about I can tell you

  • @dragongame2 I'm 18 and also writing a book. We fantasy writers should get together. :)

  • @warmsteel I don't see a problem in that my friend :P
