  • Isodor was spot on - they're all going to die. Do you honestly thing that as the ship is going down everyone is going to remain totally calm? No way! I don't think the Strausses over acted at all - the rest of the cast were far too calm!

  • Ummmm not to sound rude but whose idiot idea was it to has isador screaming at Ida?

  • I'm playing Eleanor Widener in our school's production. Premieres in a little less than a month :) I'm really excited.

  • Not bad but this tempo is terribly slow.

  • Well came across this when looking to join a society doing it in 2012.this was a very poor effort .Singing off key ,costumes and hair mostly completely wrong for the era ,And didn't reflect the sympathetic peace that Maurey lesten meant it to be .Nowhere near how it should be. Mrs Strauss ....theres yelling with fear and then theres yelling with anger....the latter definitely !! Poor !!!

  • @fewtrell0151 goodness me, you qualified as an expert too........ next time, spell the composers name right.....how about you post a video of yourself and we can all judge how good an expert you really are!

  • This is so amazing! It's done so well.

  • Who are the two characters that kiss at 6:13??

  • @samwiseyoufool The Character names are Charles and Caroline. I actually played Charles a few years back in high school and that duet is written as a solo for him.

  • I love this scene and this musical in general, this is a great production, just seemed a bit rushed, and people waited for their musical cues instead of acting through them. But then again I'm a critic =P it's really good.

  • 13 personas son sordas o ciegas.

  • this would be such a great musical to perform in, so much emotion!

  • I worked on this show when it played in Liverpool a few years ago. It was amazing to work on, and I really envied the people in the audience who could watch it properly! I'd love to see it again one day, as it was absolutely haunting and beautiful, and a joy to work on! (Apart from the iceberg piece prop, which was made out of expanding foam. Which kept expanding throughout the show's run. XD Watching the actor carry it on the final night was rather hilarious for the stage crew!)

  • my highschool verison off this was better then then but its a hard one to do

  • are jack and rose in this? or does it follow any particular set of characters?

  • @tomwilliets This is the Historical version, the Broadway version, of the Titanic. There wasnt a Jack or Rose on the ship like said in the Movie.

  • You can purchase the soundtrack to this musical on Amazon. Just type in Titanic Musical.

  • My highschool actually did a better job at this than these guys

  • This is probably one of the most beautiful shows I have ever watched. So unbelievably moving.

  • I play Ida Straus in my school production and this was pretty helpful although I don't think I will be as dramatic as this Ida.

  • I was in a version of this years ago at our theatre. You really get into the character and it's quite heartbreaking acting out these scenes. It really makes you think about the poor people who lost their lives that day and how scared and upset they must have been. Musicals like this need to be brought back. It's not disrespecting the memories of those who died like some people have said. It's about remembering the courage and bravery and respecting their lives by not forgetting them.

  • i almost cried at the begining! :'(

  • @KDay5161 I played Caroline at my school when we did this. I cried so bad, I was shaking when I got to the lifeboat!

  • tht jew went crazy! @ 1:19

  • I think with some people sayin that this is over acting..I really don't think it is..I could imagine people actually being like this, pleading with their wives to get aboard a lifeboat, as it was a matter of life or death..I think they've done a really good job capturing what it was actually like..

  • That was cute.

  • we went 2 see this for our skool field trip it was pretty good.

  • me and my dad r going to watch it i carnt wait but it is in september :( on well lol its

    only 12 pound per ticket

  • There over dramatic?? Lets see how you would feel if you were on the titanic.

  • Pace of this is dreadful. Acting is so over the top. Yuk.

  • @eaewan I'm sure at the actual event back in 1912 they were all bit calmer about it ? lol but naw i see what you mean maybe it's to make up for the poor sets

  • I'm also not trying to disrespect the memory of Titanic, but if you're going to try and honor it, you should at least make it good. that's all I'm saying.

  • I'm working with a theater company who is also doing this musical and so I feel that I have the right to say that this was not good at all... the acting was overdone and terrible, the timing was awkward, and the singing was mediocre.

I'm not trying to be rude, and our work is by no means perfect, but it is certainly far better than this. Barrett did well in this one, but our Barrett is absolutely fantastic, hands down the best young singer in our city's theater. And I live in a big city.

  • I love this musical! i played Charlotte drake Cardozo at my school!

  • Wonderful, except that Ida and Isador, what were they thinking? Isador Strauss yelling at Ida?

  • The musical is the only Titanic reinactment that makes me cry.

  • Lol, at 2:27 ...line?

  • @themarxmarvelous he didnt forget the line he just timed it up bad so he had to wait for the music to catch up. or it was a dramatic pause, its hard to tell with such overacting on his part

  • @biggiebrownn I can dream.

  • @themarxmarvelous ...touche

  • @biggiebrownn actually that's the amount of music there is in the score. They just decided to not have anything happen in this version

  • @asolanara

i think he timed it a little off, like he was supposed to sing "youre going to b a ladies maid" and i dont think Jim would have been that rough

  • Timing was off, and such horrible over emoting, Jim Farrell, really?

  • Isidor screamed too much

  • hahaha omg at 2:16 thats probably one the funniest things ive ever seen in my life

  • strausses totaaaaallly overdid it.

  • The timing if the dialogue with the music is WAY off

but other wise its pretty well done

  • i actually thought this was quite boring in our show we had the husbands at least attempting to board the lifeboats with their wives and i was etches and i felt like he had no connection with his stewardesses they are obviously upset why not help them how i thought of it is that he was trying to fight for them and have them board the lifeboats and i dont but they cant and then we all start crying this etches seemed to have no connection with them which makes me sad :(

  • ok krausses, enough shouting already, we get the point

  • you mean the Strauses :) I know what you mean totally over acted that is suppose to be a sad scene with Ida saying how no matter what she doesnt want to leave her husband the man that she has loved for 40 years.

  • kate is my favorite !

  • i think it was good however mr strausse go way too angry way too quickly! he should of given it time and persuaded her more... just a tad overacted but good all the same :)

  • At 4:26, that's Mr. Andrews. The architect of the Titanic. Look up "The Blame" from this show. Great Song!

  • At 4:26, which character is that?

  • I was wondering the same thing! Maybe the Captain or Mr. Hitchens?

  • where and when was this? Is it in the west end or broadway now?

    x

  • overacting by mister and mrs Kraus, and indeed aswell by our young hero.. enough shouting :-)

But the vocals werent bad at all, expecially I found the choir to be doing quite good

  • Don't you mean STRAUSS?

  • We did great...on this scene...we also did scenes from Les Miserables....and Ragtime

  • We just had our opening night for Titanic the Musical last night in Tralee - on the 97th anniversary of the sinking. Powerful stuff. An AMAZING musical to be part of.

  • I am Student Director for my school is doing this scene in 3 weeks......im captain....wish me luck

  • So how did it go?

  • "theres got to be a place on that lifeboat, kate. take it FOR GOD"S SAKE!!!!!!" haha overacted just a tad

  • i love this show! i was in it last winter - this scene is good, but the sound quality on this video isnt that good so it doesn't do the show justice. Aaaw this scene is soo emotional it gets every time i hear the music. ;)

  • this made me cry... wonderful WONDERFUL WONDERFUL!

    wonderful actors!

    bravo! oh bravo!

  • It's called musical theatre dumb-ass, the characters on stage sing to express great emotions. Much like Kim from Miss saigion wouldn't sing as she shot herself and the boys on the barricades in Les Mis sing as their being killed. If you don't understand the genre then keep your ignorance to yourself, idiot. God people are moronic.

  • you should shut up!! it is called musical art... in most all musicals, people sing when they wouldn't be singing in real life, it expresses emotion, dumb idiot! why did you search this, just to say something ignorant? well, maybe next time, you will think and see if you actually know what you are talking about before you put it down... go cheerlead, or tackle somebody, whatever shit you do, but keep your ass out of arts, because you are just and idiot!

  • Oh please, this musical is all about respecting and paying tribute to the people who died on the Titanic. It insures that, all these years later people remember what happened and undertstand the courage and sacifice of the crew and passengers and the human flaws that lead to the disaster in the first place. If you'd ever actually seen a full, professional production of the show you'd know that. It's a beautiful, moving and powerful piece of theatre.

  • disrespectful :|... how can soething that pays tribute be disrespectful :|

  • oh shut up!

it is no different than making a movie, this is paying respect stupid!

just shut up! YOU have no respect for those who died!

  • Here here!

  • lol... what does here here! mean? :)

  • It means "I agree" - he/she was seconding your opinion :)

  • @lovertojackharkness I don't really understand your point. Why is it disrespectful? This tragedy was such a deeply emotional thing, that still touches and saddens many people, and that's often the kind of thing that is dealt with in art. The musicians who put this together approach those emotions through music, and preserve the story of what happened in a way that remembers not only the events, but also the intensity of emotion surrounding them. To me, I find that respectful...

  • Wow. This is simply awful. I mean, I don't usually like to leave hate-comments but...wow. I mean, where are the people throwing each other off and stabbing each other to get to a boat? What's with yelling ever line? And the songs can't even make up for it. Oh well--it happens, I suppose.

  • Um people were pretty frantic to get on boats...but they definately were not killing each other...

  • We're doing this musical and We're still 3 weeks from opening but I can definitely say that ours is not as corny as this... nice try though

  • you see, sometimes, when there is really good acting, and you have been put around really shitty acting your entire life, than the good acting lookes corny, so, go to your little junior high, and sing along to crummy kereoke, and just shut up.

how dare you...and don't say your are an adult actor or that you are at a pro theatre, because if you were, you would be smart enough to know that this is GREAT acting! congrats, you just showed the ignorance of a minor. go practice your kareoke now

  • the sound quality on this is very bad.

  • what production is it???where was it staged??

  • They made up for lack of energy and chaos by screaming their lines. I don't like this particular performance at all, but the show itself is incredible. It is so powerful and beautiful and moving.

  • It was ok but when my school did it it was a ton better

  • ha, no school can be better... please, if you want to look good, don't talk about your SCHOOL performances...please :)

  • It seems alright, but I think it's almost like there are too many characters there. I haven't seen the musical, but it was as if there were too many characters on stage and moving about to concentrate on what was happening.

  • It was shite . =D but i uppose thats just because its a musical about a ship ...

  • What if someone did September 11th the musical? Would that be a good musical?

  • Right now it's a terrible idea. Although there has been two movies made. We are still too emotionally close to 911. Maybe in 20 years, when 911 is distant history like Pearl Harbor, and Titanic, there will be movies, plays, etc.

    ca

  • @allieree my theatre did a play that was about 9/11, it's called "Acillies in Sparta" if you want to look it up

  • @SaintPandemonium theres a play out about it, a one act

  • @SaintPandemonium You know, I think it could be if it was done respectfully and sincerely. Perhaps not right now, because 9/11 is still so recent. But after all, there have been movies made of it, right? Obviously a silly, frivolous musical approach would be totally inappropriate, just as a silly, frivolous movie of the event would be! But music can be a VERY powerful way to express things that are too hard for people to express in words...

  • I'm not impressed. There shouldn't have been so much yelling. It was supposed to be more passionate than that.

  • Oh Maury Yeston writes such good music

  • wats with all the yelling

no need mr strauss and jim farrell

    great set tho

  • dont no y but uts wat it says in the script

  • I can't even hear this song without crying. I saw a production of this scene one and in comparson both were quite good. Although I perfered Charles' solo in the one I saw, but purely on stage direction; As he was singing the actor playing Charles was leaning over the rail to grab Caroline's hand and they made it look as though her hand was slowing slipping away from his it was soooo sad! And also I thought the Straus' were over acting a bit. But Alice was great! Very beliveable!

  • what next9.11 the musical?

  • theres a difference. titanic wasnt attacked by islamic fundamentalists.

  • no it was attacked by fundamental icebergs, the evil swine! trying to take over the world in a "cold" calculating way"

  • no,it was attacked by something more coldhearted!

  • Come on, lay off. The Titanic sank almost a centurie ago it's a differnt matter. It's really a beautiful musical and based in fact. These were really people and real stories of courage from suriver's accounts.

  • it is a terrible show,terrible acting,terrible songs!

  • @jamierourketen What is everyone so upset with this musical that it's disrespectful. A musical about the Titanic is basically just the same as making a movie about it. It's a movie, on stage with songs. Not stupid songs, beautiful songs. 9/11 the musical? First of all, who would think about that? I mean seriously, let's be real here. Titanic as a musical is one of the greatest Broadway musicals ever created. There is a great difference between Titanic and 9/11. Titanic can be a musical. Not 9/11

  • its to horrificly slow, the number of times i have seen this show i have never seen anything like this, some of the singing was ok, accents no, others singing not so much, the set was probably the only thing i could say i enjoyed about this clip and the number of others that are taken from the same show. the show is lengthy as it is, they must have been there doing this performance for at least 4 hours at the rate it was going, to terrible to sit through.

  • Im sorry this is a train wreck of a scene. I have cried watching this scene preformed with out cast, watching this scene here I just laugh, infact its become sort of a joke amongst our cast... The crew is incredibly violent, the characters are so off and out of place, the music is slower then a paraplegic crawling up a hill... thanks for the laugh.

  • Doesn't anyone understand the emotional capacity of the situation? This isn't overacting, it's realistic acting. I'm sure it was even more chaotic. In such a situation I would be screaming my lungs out, particularly to those that I love, "GET IN THAT BOAT!" I was in this show, and this emotional climax is exactly what we were missing. Overacting would be doing it in such a way that it is no longer believable, this performance was quite the opposite. Wonderful!

  • I have to disagree, on top of the SLOW AND DRAWN OUT MUSIC the acting is a bit over the top. We just performed this show at a time of 2:30 with a 15 intermission, the poor audience must have been sitting there for at least 4 hours. Im sorry, but these people dont have the voices, which actually may not be your fault. Farrell made me want to pee myself, YOUR... GOING TO BE A LADIES MAID... A LADIES MAID... IN AMERICA! hahaha Im sorry this is intense. God bless you all.

  • I love that you said Farrell made you want to pee yourself because my highschool did this back in 2001 and the had to STREEETCH for male roles. My brother got Jim Farrell. Good at the irish accent ..BAD AT SINGING. I cracked up when he sang that part.

  • I agree on the tempo. The ship is rapidly sinking at this point and there is only one life boat left; there is an urgency is the music it should not be draged out. Esically with Farrell he's trying to get Kate in that boat as fast as he can before it fill's up. Yes he knows he's going to die but he dosen't care because his one thought is saveing her.

  • ouch. Too much screaming. But I still got goosebumps. love the show. I'm playing McGowan in August!

  • wow I didn't realize Isidor Strauss was a wife batterer -

  • OMG - way too slow -- and they're climbing UP into the lifeboats...BAD set design

  • i've been in this show as well- harold bride...was so much fun!

  • its too over-acted. i dont like the set - its not very versatile for the different scenes

  • umm this is one of my favorite shows!!! the whole titanic concept of it actually happening is so intriging to me...the acting is chaos

  • I'd really like to see this, but I'm not entirely convinced that it really works as a live show. I like this song, but I'm just not sure I can get my head round the actual 'Titanic' concept and story being done live on stage - but, then I suppose that's why you go see it - to find out.

  • You cant turn a sinking ship into a musical. it's just plain stupid.

  • its not stupid - the musical is really good. i was in it last december. its nearer to the truth than the james cameron film

  • Ok, I'm not trying to be an ass, but I saw this show when it was on Broadway, and this version is complete choas. The acting is way over the top and the sound is awful.

  • i totally agree

  • This looks a great musical but i cant help but feel a bit sad watching it turning one of maritimes greatest loss of life on a cruise in2 a musical

  • WoW lots of people commented this :D haha i was a second class passenger and it aint easy to sing your harmonies and try to push pass a guard at the same time so id like to see you do better!!! :D

  • Yes it is.

  • WHO directed this??? Isador and Ida Strauss are a loving, committed couple. They are sweet and tender. WHY are they yelling at each other??? Your director is an absolute IDIOT!!!!

  • NO WAY! This is an intense sene and they are worried to leave each other and they are probibly stressed. I think it is amazing!

  • "Scene" is spelled "S-C-E-N-E"....NOT "S-E-N-E"....so much for the extension of idiocy...TRAGIC!

  • Take at look at 4:30, I first I though it was a major wart but it's his microphone.

  • too much yelling..and wats up with farrell? very...awkward..well done..but awkward

  • they could sing way louder!

  • I feel really bad for all the men who had to leave their wives and children... :( it makes me sad...

  • To be clear: 711 people survived, of that 338 were men (including crew), 57 children, 316 woman. So the men actually out numbered the woman saved. So don't feel so bad for the men.

  • Yeah, feel bad for the children. D:

  • Comment removed

  • Barrett was AMAZING.

  • for anyone that read the comments below iv just found out that i have passed my audition and will be a second/third class passenger in the hexagon performance of TITANIC the musical.... also my dad is BENJAMIN GUGGENHEIM!!

  • is this from the broadway show?

  • No, this is a community theatre cast - although it is their production of the Broadway show

  • There was quite a bit of overacting but it was obvious Etches carried that scene...just kidding. The music was good but the Strauses were over acting as were Ferrel and Kate

  • absolutely. over acting it makes it look/sound bad and the audience isn't going to take it seriously.

  • I'm in it right now as Etches and our Strauses' are sad but calm. They aren't screaming the lines.

They're acting is also greatly contrasted by the song being sung like this is a normal everyday thing for the ship to sink.

TAKE IT FOR GOD'S SAKE!! VOICE INLECTION IS NOT NEEDED!! lol

  • I saw a production yesterday and that's exactly how it was. it shouldn't be played any other way.

  • Poorly?

  • "In ancient Sparta, important matters were decided by who shouted loudest. Fortunately, we are not in ancient Sparta." -Sister Aloysius, Doubt

  • not the way in the video, the way you described it.

  • i agree

  • Is barret a big part

  • Huge! He's probably one of the biggest parts in the whole musical besides Andrews, Bride, and Alice.

  • Yeah, amazing job on the overall singing and performance

    amazing solo's

but the stauses were definetly over doing it

and Farrel looked like he was on steroids and was pretty scary and he sung the ladys maid reprise quite poorly

Alice and Edgar had the right amount of emotion in it

How many over lapping "Hurry now we must get to the life boats" do u have?

We have all 4 and its honestly madness

oh, charles and caroline were great too, but their struglle lasted a while

    great job though!

  • lol same at 2:28. what interpretation, what feeling!

  • I couldn't help but laugh at the Strauss battle at 1:20. "HOW CAN YOU REFUSE!! AFTER 40 Years how can you refuse!" hahahahaha!

    so over done!

  • on sun 17th im auditioning for this... its an amazing show nd takes so much work... i cnt w8. 4 the audition iv chosen 2 sing 'i dont know how 2 love him' from jesus christ superstar.... so ppl fink this wos a gd song 2 choose?? im auditioning for madeline astor

    Please Reply =]

  • would it not be better to maybe sing a number from the show itself. i know some of them might not show of your vocal range, but if you show that you know at least a bit of the show, im sure that would work in your advantage :)

  • thx 4 replying... they sed wev got 2 choose a song from another musical though (to show our range nd stuff) also i dnt actually know the show and its only a couple of weeks till the audition so i need one i know and can sing confidently...

    thx anyway =D

  • I personally believe the solo was magnificent. However, the other characters are far to in stress to be able to understand the exact lyrics.

  • The strauss' were intense. Maybe a little too intense.

  • I know. I expectedd a slight raise of voice, but not a brawl. Also the couple before 2:28 was a little brawl-like

  • agreed.

  • Was this on Broadway or was this an off broadway production?

  • I believe it's a sponsored production, just not one of broadway

  • can anyone hear the french horn coming in at the wrong point?

  • really...when??

  • just after the woman sings to the boy at the start around 36 seconds into it. lol i laughed backstage when it happened

  • now i can see that its a mistake. I just thought it was part of the song. XD

  • who is the little boy? he is in every titanic:the musical video.

  • very awful...... some dont even sing.

I CAN 100% TELL THIS IS COMMUNITY THEATRE

(barrett might be the only good one)

  • i don't know why everyone thinks this is so good, cause it's not! they're moving at snail pace, and they're all yelling at each other! it's like 'lifeboats' on LSD!

    "NOOO YOU CANNOT REFUSEEEE!!"

the singing's alright, but i don't like the mother's singing, and who's the annoying cryer? it's the very beggining and she's like "PUAHHAHAHAAAAAAA!" bad directing. not great acting. they sit there and wait for the music. it's like "okay, great choir concert, what about the show?"

  • this is fantastic acting and singing.

    bravo.!

but i agree, the music is terribly slow.

it makes the actors have to stand awkwardly waiting for their song que.

and isn't alice supposed to be american?

    otherwise great!

  • i was in this in 05 wid nottingham operatic socity i play the lil boi even do im a gerl lol
