Wow, I remember watching this episode! I was 9 or 10 and a HUGE fan. I even remember watching the Monday Raw they were talking about when The 123 Kid beat Razor Ramon the first time, and Jannety beating HBK for the IC title. That is the Raw that sticks out more to me than any other!
I never noticed this back in the day but Vince, Jerry, and Macho seem to be just superimposed in front of a crowd. Makes sense now because Sueprstars was taped from several venues a week.
Wow I haven't seen this intro since 1993. I used to get Superstars on syndication on WDFX Fox 34 Dothan, Al every Saturday night at 6 pm. I miss those days.
They're standing in front of a GREEN screen, not a blue screen. (note that if they were in front of a blue screen, McMahon's suit and Lawler's cape would have been keyed out)
May 1993 I remember that!!! The nex superstars after night of upsets Monday Night Raw May 17 1993 when 123 Kid defeat Razor and Shawn lost his IC title to his former partner Marty. I miss so much these times
Yeah there doin pretty good with the 88's primetime's as of late LoL! I don't dig the Superstars "BLUR" though, but i'm sure We won't get WWF Superstars on 24/7?
TV rarely came to Maryland, as that was WCW territory, but I was fortunate enough to attend a Wrestling Challenge taping in 1992. Show started at 7:45 and ended at 12:05. At a Superstars taping, they tape 3 weeks worth of Superstars and 3 hours of Prime Time. At Challenge, they taped 3 weeks worth of Challenge and do the other 3 hours for Prime Time. Then, they tape some matches for Coliseum Video and do maybe a dark match or two to finish the taping.
Hate to break it to ya man but it's a total blue screen. The crowd noise is completely canned and their voices are way too clear to be speaking in a live arena. It also looks like there standing on a raised platform 40 feet in the air in the middle of the arena. They used to knock out five weeks worth of these in one day.
It's a blue screen. TV tapings were only done every 3 weeks back in the day, so it was rare to have an opportunity to attend one compared to one today. But I was fortunate enough to attend a Wrestling Challenge taping in MD (which they never ran for TV) and was expecting Heenan and Monsoon to be there. They weren't. Gene Okerlund came out and had the crowd cheer, boo, and chant "Weasel" while they recorded it and played the audio for when they recorded the openings at the TV studios later.
Wow I guess I forgot (after all these years) Marty Jannetty beat Shawn Micheals for the IC belt? I guess I don't remember that much (though this was soo long ago). I just remember after Marty went through the mirror he came back and got some pushes but never got near the heights in the federation as Shawn did on his own.

My favorite music intro all-time! I miss the yesterday of the WWF. It lost flavor when Stone Cold left.

From what I read, 24/7 is airing Wrestling Challenge ans is soon to be airing 1988 of Prime Time Wrestling.
RickMercer4PM 3 years ago
Oh cool...is it airing like in order or does it have a selection of so many diff shows and all??
crackerkings 3 years ago
I think it's in order. Challenge might even air on E's website itself. Not sure to be honest, but check it out.

Hey RickMercer, I noticed this taping according to the open, had the debut of Adam Bomb. Do you happen to have that on tape, still?
MystikWizard 3 years ago
I could only imagine how fun it would have been to be at one of those tapings. Getting to see 3-4 hours of wrestling action must have been exciting.

Almost. Tapings were every 3 weeks at this point. They went to 4 weeks when Raw was being taped.

It was supposed to be the other way around with Marty Jannetty getting the huge singles push, but his drug issues among other things got in the way.
