the reason that the tail gets stuck is because the spring that would normally bring the tail back to the plaque is broken or is not attached to the mechanics. If you want you can open him up and try to reattach the spring with a pair of pointynose pliers.

Mine's like that because the tail's cam gear needs WD-40.
