This is one of the best songs they ever did and the harmony IS their best. from 2.40 on their is nothing better The vocies blend so well they give me chills. And then I hit the repeat button. Over and over and over and over and you all get my drift!!!
are the good artist really immature or does the media only shows clips of them acting flaky? nowadays freaks who cannot play one instrument are acting so angry and sour yet expect people to view them as "serious artitsts"
this 1986 release was the only journey album i ever bought.
I just read Matthew Carty's interview with Journey's former manager Herbie Herbert. Herbert paints picture of Steve Perry as a self-absorbed & unappreciative jerk, Jonathan Cain as inauthentic & indecisive, Ross Vallory as weakwilled & unmotivated, & Neal Schon as inept at everything but music. It all sounds accurate but who knows how much is truth. He never denies the talent in the band but cannot seem to get over the fact that enduring music is not always created by mature, pleasant people.
@industrialsun i guess that pretty much sums up all of us... hahahhahaha... over all, they still managed to come together to create some of the best music ever!
@The096757 Herbert was upset that Perry had final approval on Journey's VH1 Behind The Music episode & felt it was a sanitized version of their history. Maybe the unflattering stuff Herbert said was correct but a lot of it was contradictory too. Herbert calls himself a Bay Area hippie at heart yet almost all he talked about in the interview was money. If these guys were unkind or unprofessional behind the scenes, that's disappointing but they always maintained their commitment to the music.
@ImCarrotsforBananas Classic band with great music is correct - another perfect song from the past! I loaned out my dvd of Journey Live and of course no one admits that they are the one I loaned it to. Maybe I'll remember who it was eventually.
The reason people havent heard quality such as this is due to hatred of true musicianship...learning about harmony and melody...playing fast is really a great gift...but at the heart of this music is harmony and melody...knowledgeable musicians are a threat to the industry
After listening to this song five times in a row had to write once again The harmony in the tune is amazing This should be required listening in all schools, we might get some kids into harmony again
The thing is that today everyone seems to like this kind of AoR, true musicianship, but nobody is playing it anymore, and it is a shame. Forget about the charts, all rubbish these days. The best record of 2011? for me it is Black Country Communion. And what do they play? Classic Rock. Prog and Classic Rock, there is where we have to find some music if you are not into Jazz... Journey were and are true greats, but to me ToTo are still at the top, rare balanced alchemy of taste and musicianship.
Awesome song. Opening riff sounds Asian. Incredible chorus totally gets inside your head. Steve Perry is the greatest ever. Big middle finger to the dirtbag losers who would ever criticize or put down Journey. They are one of the great bands, period. Better than Boston, better than Bruce Springsteen, better than a ton of bands.
@aishinosaki2011 As much as I like Journey I don't know if they are greater than those artists you mechioned. Say they are better than Pink Floyd or Yes then we have to talk. Journey was a great Arena Pop Rock band. In that genue their is no equal.
@edithbunkerz Stifle yourself Edith, you dingbat. Pink Floyd does not suck. They sold out stadiums before Journey hit it big. Moreover, they are two entitely different styles of music.
This song gives me chills up my spine, especially at the end! I was in high school in the early 80's and listened to and owned some of Journeys albums. Long live Journey and the 80's!!!!!!!!
Saw them in concert, December 2,1986 at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Tx. The "Raised On Radio" tour. They kicked some serious ass that night!! Best concert I've ever been to!
Another great one by Journey and the great Steve Perry! Thanks a million for uploading all of these fabulous videos. They bring back some incredible memories of my youth and young adulthood!
one of my top 3 Journey songs. omg, after all these years this song sounds so amazing. Steve Perry's voice is timeless. "Girl Can't Help It" Journey is the love of my life.
@JourneyRocks81 My Journey Top 5 (how can you limit yourself to 3?): this song, Still They Ride, After The Fall, Lights, and Lovin Touchin Squeezin. Not necessarily in that order.
@57highland I never limit myself when it comes too journey. Don't know what gave you that Idea? I love all of Journey song with Steve Perry at the helm. But, my top 3 are my top 3. If, I had too i would say My Top 100 . JOURNEY ROCKS!
@robertnu07 No its Randy Jackson & Larrie Londin for sure, I also saw the "Raised on radio Tour". Ross & Steve were both fired by management at the time eventhough they did contribute to the album and also received royalties.
@tenapage Randy sez his personal favorite track he ever recorded was "Shining Star" by Stryper off their Against the Law album 1990. It is a funky-metal cover of an Earth Wind and Fire tune. Randy is amazing...slap and po like Flea fr RHCP.
LISTEN UP TO ALL MUSIC LISTENERS! If he could hold her - so close in his arms again.............If she could show him - the letter her heart forgot to send. This song is so sad. Love it.
One of my favourite Journey songs also. My favorote is 'Who's Crying Now' but only when it is sung by Steve.I love the live video of this song especially the part where Steve is standing by Neal and Steve gives Neal a funny look while he is singing 'He wonders why she cares'. Poor Neal lol. For me Journey will never be Journey again without Steve. You just cannot replace 'The Voice'.
I like more industrial and goth ..... but there is still a part of me that really likes this song. Listening to WRIF in the early 80's with JJ and the morning crew.... high school.. God I'm glad I got beyond it, but there's still a "Shelley G" out there that I wish I'd actually had the brains (and guts) to tell how much she meant to me.... I was such an idiot.... oh well... we grow up and move on.... nothing stands between love and you......
fabulous opener from a top album, journey in full control whatever the troubles they were experiencing. good tunes with awesome vocals from steve and neal is on fire!quality stuff!!
