  • so what in that evening carmen wanted to get drunk?:))))))))

  • if you spell carmen with "k", it has to go wrong...

  • I just can'tget enough of this! a special mention for the unfortunate tenor that went through it all the way!

  • Who is this singer?

  • @colishito Dragana del Monaco. It's sad really, poor thing, I wonder how she felt the next day.

  • sorry but this is sad.

  • This is a situation where Bizet gets murdered long before Carmen and the poor tenor, it must have seemed endless to him.

  • Good thing I didn't have any water in my mouth at 5:12, I would've lost it. Amazed with his voice, horrified for/at her. OMG, why didn't SOMEone have the good sense to stop this show? Poor thing, she must have an amazing voice when sober/straight. I feel SOOOO badly for her, but I'm SOOO entertained! haha

  • @AnneInCt HAHA...you took the words out of my mouth!

  • Drunk Sprechstimme! More than anything I'm amazed she stayed on her feet for nine minutes...and that the tenor didn't kill her afterwards.

  • poveraccia

  • awesome tenor. Diud everyone notice the cornet parts are being played on trumpets. No wonder she had problems :-) This is such an appropriate scene to hear her in. Don Jose gets to kill her at the end. So tempting...

  • awesome tenor. Diud everyone notice the cornet parts are being played on trumpets. No wonder she had problems :-)

  • It's too bad there is only a 'like' button and not a love button

  • she's the best!!!!!!!......lol :P ))))))))

  • Who is the tenor, the best Don Jose, I ever heard, better than Del Monaco or Corelli.

or even Giaccomini. This guy is INCREDIBLE. The best dramatic tenor any time. about the female, you have to feel sorry for her

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH this makes me pee every time. oh man.

  • OML, please shoot the guy !!

  • Drunkicated

  • OMG is that Michael Jackson!!!! lol

  • is it a true situation or is it wanted that way?........can someone tell me?....:-(

  • she should be doing rock music, defenitly.. I award him for the coolest tenor, I would have kick her drunk ass already..

  • Carmen as "sprechgesang".. quite interesting. Not only is she drunk.. she´s so drunk she´s about to fall to the ground. I wouldn´t be surprised if she didn´t remember any of this afterwards.

  • That poor tenor. He was a gentleman all the way through.

  • HAHAHA!

  • mon Dieu!, qu'est ce que c'est que ça? Bizet doit se retourner dans sa tombe...

  • Comment removed

  • my god...i feel bad for her...but i have to say i never laughed so much in my life...i wish i could see her watching this...

  • The most curious thing is that she remembered every word in the aria and always came in the right place, thats amasing!

  • I am overjoyed with how great this video is. TOP NOTCH.

  • haha, at 8:16 the baritone smells her breath :D

  • lol...u r silly! But he is a tenor!

  • thanks for the correction. I'm not an opera expert, so for me it's easy to confound a baritone with a tenor

  • No worries! Thanks again for the laugh (baritone smells her breath)! :D

  • oh, yes, I forgot that comment, I thought you were answering the other I wrote, and I didn't understand why you lolled ^^

  • @jazztom86 Well his voice is baritonal in timbre. Thats typical of a tenor voice of reasonable size. There are a lot of similarities between a verdi baritone and a spinto or drammatic tenor and I can understand how you got it confused.

  • shit, in the baritone's place I think I'd have turned and go away...

  • this chick is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am LAUGHING SOOO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! At some points shes even in a different key with the baritone! hahahahahahahahahahahaomg can't stop. spit...flying...everywhere.

  • Oh my God - Florence Foster-Jenkins is back!

  • Why did they let her on stage like this?

  • The late Mario Del Monaco is turning in his tomb because of his doughter-in-law

  • the "SHMAAAAA" at 2:13 is to DIE for :p

  • THIS IS THE FUNNIEST FUC#ING THING I HAVE SEEN!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! HAHAHA.......I feel horrible for the guy. I would beat that bitch off stage.

  • Not only she is totally drunk but she looks like she also had lotsa sex prior to the performance. She is both drunk and exhausted. Whoever fucked her must have been laughing his ass off among the audience while seeing this.

  • You almost want her to turn around and vomit into a Tuba for the final effect. She looks like she mixed lorazepam and booze. That shit will mess you up :)

  • That would've been an amazing ending! :D

  • It actually looks like the poor girl is either having a stroke or a seizure. Someone really should have stopped her....

  • No this is sad and tragic and she should never have been allowed to do it...but it is hysterically funny..like a wounded pup whimpering. Poor, poor woman.

  • presmešno...

  • ..., da nije tako u najmanju ruku žalosno

  • my understanding was that she took migraine medicine and it didn't work, so she had a drink for the vaso-dilation (vasoconstriction?)...the two didn't mix well. i feel terrible for her.

  • aha florence foster jenkins is back in mezzo version.

Bravo for the tenor for singing in tune next to something horrible like that.

And yes she is definatly drunk!!

  • Now it's clear to me...Carmen was killed because of her singing...! "Give her a Hook!!!"...

  • where's my gun

  • The note at 2:13...that "shmaaa" noise she makes...sounds excellent actually. :)

  • She has her moments and she is actually a pretty great singer! This night is not how she sounds normally! Sad!

  • So I guess this is the celebrated "Brindisi" from Carmen, huh? AKA "The Cocktail Duet". Except I think the tenor decided the only way he could make it to the end was to pretend it was another solo for Don Jose. Poor guy, what a trouper! I've always wondered why the audience applauded, but now I imagine it was to commend the tenor for his tenacity & professionalism. Is Dragana still working, one wonders?

  • Yes, it was ALL for the tenor!

  • This is "C'est toi? c'est moi!" from Carmen. "Brindisi" is from "La Traviata"

  • 'Brindisi' is the Italian term for offering a toast to someone or something with a song, hence 'the drinking song' in a La Traviata (and a couple of other operas, by the way). My smart aleck barb was intended for Dragana Jugovic. Seems it struck some other target instead. Thanks for tutorial, Aarne! Now I wonder which opera the Cocktail Duet really comes from?...

  • You're welcome. Your "aleck barb" seemed to be too smart for my english :)

  • *points to the hall across the street* The sprechstimme festival is across the street sweetie.

  • LMAO...that is the best satirical remark anyone has left on this video! Loved it!

  • Comment removed

  • Sprechstimme festival... LMAO.... that's hysterical. Thanks YDRACOMAGUSY!!!!

  • Ha! the final moments - I think she may have actually died right there on stage tehehehe... Interesting thing is Don Jose has a beautiful beautiful voice.

    Jacquii.

  • The tenor sounds great! :D

  • LMAO - this is the funniest thing EVER lol... If she'd butchered that song any more - they'd have carted out a grill and the whole concert would have turned into a backalley barbecue ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

    Jacquii.

  • It is amazing to me that the French was as good as it was and she was on pitch for at least half the Opera as awful she sounded and as out of it she was! LMAO!!!

  • Kudos to that great tenor for keeping on. And ever so well!

  • I concur!

  • Наздраве !

  • It's like a car accident. You don't want to watch, but you can't do anything else than watching. :) poor tenor, conducter and orchestra.

  • It sure is like that! I feel bad for all involved!

  • This Bizet is truly bizarre...Carmen, where are the barmen?

  • LOL!

  • this is frightening! I love the description - 'sometimes, the show must NOT go on!' So true!! hahaha!

  • It is! LOL...thanks!

  • she is the amy winehouse of the opera world lol

  • That night she sure was!

  • She's like a Florence Foster Jenkins for the new millennium. That the conductor, orchestra and tenor continue is mystifying, but that the audience applauds is proof that all the world loves a train wreck. Oh what a night!

  • omg.... what the hell is wrong with her... she has problems... more issues than TIME magazine

  • <einmalig, kaum zu toppen, welch ein Rausch....

  • this is the greatest thing i've seen on youtube. It's just relentless in how hysterical this is!

  • he is like

BItch dont get close to me or I will call the cops you

  • umm... wow. Did she get paid for this performance, because now I'm SURE I can make it in this industry. if that counts as a 'professional' performance, I feel like I can meet these standards...

    The guy sounds lovely :-)

  • What a wonderous rendition of Carmen!!!! the part of Carmen is wonderously played as a drunk..."get me out of here" woman named......(burp) I'mdrunkkk(barf) LOLZzz

  • She sounds like she gonna throw up all that alchol she's drank....LOLZzzzz

I could see what shes thinking...

"Where the f*ck am I....I wanna get the hell out of here...where...where's the grey goose at!" LOL

  • How on earth was she allowed on stage????

And why did the tenor agree to sing????

    What the hell.....!!!

  • sprkinja

  • Poor Don José...

  • i swear, if they asked her to blow into a breathalyzer it'd blow up.

  • LMAO!!

  • its amazing how she still remembers all the words and makes her entrances.

  • You can tell she rehearsed well...lol!

  • true!

    but does she??!!

    haha

  • actually the poor girl missed a lot of the words and a few entrances lol she's so cute lol

  • thats what i was- (excuse me i'm still watching it ((HAHA HA HA HA)

thas what i was thinking. usually if someone is that drunk they try and talk and move all over the place and wander off. she stays right there.

THIS is what YouTube is all about.

  • It sure is!

  • What's truly funny is that the Don Jose's reactions fit both the scene and what I imagine were his real-life emotions: despair, shock, horror... so we don't know if he is acting. :)

  • Poor guy I guess this have been the longest 9 minutes of his life!!!!!!!!

  • Kids, this is your brain on drugs.

  • Around 6:20 to 6:30... Hilarious

  • How come others are so calm... I know it is professional behavior, but stil!

  • Interestingly, even under this condition she remembered her part. This is very strange.

  • Rocanrroll Carmen! jajaja

  • megaLOL

  • I would love to see her like this in a duet with Villazon! Oh Gosh! The end of the opera.... Anyhow, this is hilarious!

  • LOL...it is hilarious!

  • I feel sorry for her :( She's a real lady and it's shoching that she has put her self in such a degrading situation.

  • is there any reason or inside story for this? How come they let her go on stage? Tell!

  • There are many stories floating around about it but nothing is certain!

  • I heard something about her boyfriend/husband had had an affair with antother woman and she almost drank a bottle of vodka before entering the stage.

  • Oh! Thank you very much for that information!! Youre kind! =)

  • Only one??? Are you sure? At least she could become famouse for giving the receipt of that magical cocktail.

  • O jesus!

  • Call him!...lol

  • Perhaps even better is the tenor's reaction

  • His reaction is hilarious!

  • Holy Train Wreck Batman!

  • LOL

  • And the the puplic aplauds...

  • Yeah, I think that she was taking medication and didn't realize you weren't supposed to drink with it. Either way this is hysterical!

  • Exactly!!!

  • who is she and where was this?

  • It is all in the video!

  • either I'm blind or I don't know. I just don't see anything there... the only thing I could read was Carmen.. can you write her name and the names of others actually?

  • it was in Yugoslavia(Serbia),more than 15 years ago :) I came from Serbia ,so i know :D She was....bloody drunk :) but it`s doesn`t matters...who cares about song..if it`s funny on stage :D

  • How did she get that gig?

  • She is really talented! She had a very bad night due to medication!

  • Wow.... She is horrible.

  • She is pretty good normally!

  • kind of paralisis

  • she has brain problems

  • Doubtful! Just medication!

  • wow, I honestly have no idea what to say to that other than, BUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Actually, that is the best thing to say!

  • Is the tenor Giacomini? Someones probably asked already.

  • Tenor is Aleksei Sterlianko!

  • Really! LOL if you watch the entire video is hilarious! I tried drag once and it was a total failure, so I can imagine Carmen

  • I think that's a man in drag! LOL.... I can believe this happened! LOLOLOLOLOL

  • If I were in drag, I wouldnt sound like that nor do I think u would! LOL

  • HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?????

  • Booz and Prescribed Medication!

  • You've heard it. It's possible. Her own interpretation, a milestone on Carmen. But let her have her ideas alone, at home, not in public. Well, at least, it gives a good beat of laughter.

  • Yeap! That's some serious crack she was on! LOL

  • Hopefully, it was prescription! LOL

  • WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?

  • LOL...ok?

  • Oh, why he did not kill her? hahahahaha....

  • LOL...I know!

  • That poor tenor, lol. He was pretty good too!

  • He is great!

  • i'm impressed that she made all if her entrances and sang the words. lol. that poor man. he looked mighty embarrased.

  • LOL...he sure did!

  • From what I was told, Dragana was going through a divorce and she started drinking b/c of it.

  • I've heard she was drunk, medicated and drunk and medicated. Either way the performance was awful. LOL

  • thank you for your opinion! :D

  • I can´t understand they allowed her to perform in that condition!!!

  • well she took medication that seemingly at the time would make her feel better but was too much for her system!

  • Pitty! Alcohon and singing do not combine. Some people say that Caruso, Lily Pons and Bjorerling also drank a lot. Maybe carreer pressure.

  • Well, I've learned since putting this video up that she was sick and took a prescription that was too strong for her! :(

  • das ist geniaaaal !!!

    schande...

  • this is what's really happening inside Carmen - a mirror of her desperate soul - embarassing for everybody - BUT it touches me. It's like something that should never happen and still did. This woman is real whatever the reason was for her shocking performance.

    Extraordinary tenor and great collegue!

  • Amen. It touch me too.

  • I find it terribly disturbing that career pressure could cause this.

    God, help us performers....

    I hope she's okay now...

  • I dont find it sad when a stupid singer like this wants to throw her career away by going on stage as pissed as a cow..! dont even find it funny. Like the tenor though- sounds alot like a baritone till he goes up.

  • I think it's terribly sad because it's real. Being a del Monaco must be tough, given the family history. Also, despite being off her face on a cocktail of booze and drugs, she makes every entry spot-on.

  • Ovo jeeeee.... hahahahahaha fantasticno! Borise, jel gledas!? :D

  • hilarious!!! the tenor is superb..too bad he had to endure that:)

  • OMG! I was laughing soo hard I almost cried!!!!
