Remember that we fire "blanks", and don´t have to load a ball. The pressure and heat generated and thereby the risk of the cannon exploding are not real risk with only 6 blanks. I don´t think an original cannon would have endured such a fast rate of fire, without cooling the iron would expand, and that might leave gaps in the construction resulting in less power and accuracy, and eventually the cannon exploding.
Not if the canon is properly made against this heat, besides it's the mug charge that heats up the most and if your still scared, then if the barrel is thick enough there'd be no problem I'm sure that you'd only lose around 6 seconds to load each canon ball by the rear,no?And yes maybe medieval canon tend to blow up but this is a relatively small canon, compared to bombard or siege canons, but let's say if we try it with a late 18 century canon type? I'm sure it's good, just that the range is short
After the 6 shots (the 6 breeches we´ve got) the breeches have to be reloaded. When keeping a steady pace continually reloading each breech after it´s fired, the rate of fire is much slower.
This looks like fun!

What is the board in front of the cannon for?
moleman1961 2 years ago
It's a shield protecting the crew while working, only exposing them when the shot is fired.

Suprisingly fast loading.

Our "record" is 6 shots in 36 seconds. Unfortunally I don´t have this on video (yet).

impressive, much faster than rifles later on, only 3 shots a minute for our muskets in 1860
