I read this book and i found it very scary and interesting.Few times i had to stop reading coz i been so scared.I didnt even have that book near my bed when i went to sleep :).It had to go to diferent room :(
call me a sceptic, but how do we know that what is called demon possession is not just a case of schizophrenia? i don't mean to sound critical, i am just going through a stage right now where i don't know what to believe.
@stepfordescapee That's a fair question. My view on this would be to eliminate the naturalistic first (such as schizophrenia). The things that are problematic with natural or mental health conditions v. genuine demonic possession are such things as: the demonized person having the ability to predict future events, know intimate details about people, places, etc. that they wouldn't normally know, supernatural phenomena accompanying the personalities (lights, orbs, etc).I experienced all of these.
@Shazoolo okay. you know i am a big fan of your videos. i guess i feel that people are always looking for an excuse for their bad actions, and "the devil made me do it" seems to be one of those cop outs. however, in this world obsessed with the paranormal, your videos on this subject do offer another side of the matter to consider.
I really thought the scary bits in that book wouldn't frighten me one iota, as I had been accustomed to all sorts of ghastly stuff in the not-so-distant past. was thus looking forward to reading it, at night and alone, what the hell.. (well ok, with my kitties)--just before going to sleep, mmm lovely... ahahaha... !! wish I hadn't. ;D
Hi, I enjoy your videos, and it just occurred to me if you're still somehow maintaining your interest and activity in the darker arts, despite your Christian conversion, by reviewing books such as these and continuing to talk about it? Not judging (I like watching!), just wondering what your thoughts on that might be.
@hilldiggity Hi, interesting question. I am interested in this subject but definately as an outsider now looking in. With specific regards to demon possession though this has special interest to me (and always will) as I find it fascinating to compare others experiences in this realm with my own. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and for feeding back.
Is excellent!(maybe I'm odd but I read that book at night before sleeping. (I've read the Exorcism of Anna Michel"(she died during the exorcism. One book I HIGHLY recommend is "Hostage to the Devil"...(by Malachi Martin-:Harper San Fransico publishing)Lot of back story- where they have open doors to the demonic. 5 stories in depth and background info about the current Roman prayers for exorcism and how to recognize possession.
Also, there are some books by Scott M Peck.("People of the Lie" and others. Peck was an atheist and was asked to the doctor while priests and others were to do an exorcism. He wound up believing in God.Jesus ..Look for talks on exorcism by Fr. Clement Marcado( a current Vatican exorcist). The Roman Catholic Church is going back to the business of doing Exorcisms. It was a "dead" talent for years & now many priests are picked to be trained as exorcists.
@Rainy64 I have often felt that some forms of atheism are the result of demonic spirits. There's a young guy I know who quite suddenly turned very anti-Christian although he hadn't been brought up religious & was rebelling but had rather started to dabble with light new age beliefs. Soon after, we became aware that he was calling himself an atheist and becomes pretty angry (even snarls) when in the thick of discussion on Christianity. I think a spirit from the new age dabbling has captured him
@Shazoolo IF he's filling himself with Horror movies and rough secular music....there are 2 windows right there....So much is new age...I think you're right about demons ..filling an"empty vessel." Check into whether this guy was abused by any Christians-verbally to sexual... I don't know his age. The New Age things bombard kids...TV shows..so much! We.'re in a culture of death..vampires, and other creatures.
Yes, "Hostage to the Devil" was an excellent book. Just recently acquired "The Dark Sacrament" and I am looking forward to reading it during my travels this month. I wonder how it will compare to "Hostage to the Devil"?
@OCPRS "hostage to the Devil" has background info about exorcisms in general. IN the appendix has the Roman Catholic prayers...But there are 5 in depth stories..the "victim" tells his story too...& you see how he/she becomes more possessed. Some seem to straight out invite the devil in. (I have quite a large library about exorcisms and similar things.)Seems I had a step grandfather who went thru one. When he was "taken over"..my grandmother had him go to his room- where he cussed &screamed.
@OCPRS I think Hostage give more info from the "victim."Hostage (has a section on what another exorcist went thru-affecting personally, 5 stories of possession, a "manual" of possession and Finally a section of prayers used in exorcism. (The priests or ministers who go in... have to be "clean" because the devil was able to call out their sins.)
"Dark Sacrament "has 10 stories and prayers and the history of exorcism-5 stories from Canon Lendrum and 5 from a cloistered monk,Fr Mc Carthy. There are so mnay books out about exorcisms and deliverances. there's a paper back out with 2 police officers on their off time..investigate- go and see if the person really was in need of a priest/minister for an exorcism. (Another book (the Devil Called Collect" and the case story abt Annalease Michel (which the exorcism of Emily Rose was based on)
@Rainy64 I am also currently reading Malachi Martin's Hostage to the Devil. Haven't got into the actual testimonies yet but is very interesting thus far. I'm with you on the reading at night thing. I did the same, in bed with my torch! Suppose I cheated somewhat though as my wife would be sleeping next to me.
@Shazoolo Both of those books have so much info...And so many different ways that a person became possessed. The person had to be open..almost an invitation to the demons. (DR.M Scott Peck was an atheist asked to join as a Psychiatrist on exorcism cases.AFTERWARDS he was a believer.). He read 2 or 3 books they are very good reads as well.
@Shazoolo I'm alone single mom reading it. "Greater is he who is in me that he who is in the world!" No fear.
_The ghosts?...Are familiar spirits...we easily believe in guardian angels...well I believe we have familiar spirits like a guardian demon- who knows us and our family and family history! Just demons faking it- pretending to be a little girl, or invisible playmate, or "ghost" of soldiers.
Oh yeah.... We've also always practiced exorcism. I remember once watching a documentory where Lutheran parents took their demonically posessed son to the Lutheran church, and they actually advised them to take him to a Catholic church, since "Catholics know something about that kind of stuff." -.-
I converted to Catholicism on the basis that there were many aspects of Christianity supported therein that weren't supported elsewhere in Christianity. For example: the real presence of Jesus in the Lord's Supper (1 Cor. 11:27-29,) Reconciliation (John 20:23,) the Primacy of St. Peter's role in the Church (Matt. 16:18-19,) Purgatory (1 Cor. 3:15-16) the Annointing of the sick (James 5:14) and they carry the apostolic authority as it is transfered in Acts 8:17-18 since Christianity's beginning.
@Shazoolo Thanks for revealing the different ways demons actually work. Have you covered the topic 'hall of angels' before? I was researching the Golden dawn and found a site with audio/videos. One video I listened to was: The Power of Angels The Law of Attraction 04 09 by Robert Zink Blog Talk Radio2. I didn't listen to the whole part the hypnotic encounter into the hall of angels/demons, it was too freaky to me. At first it sounds innocent, but in reality, it's just another false light.

I thought of something...Most books published by Llewellyn press seem to be Occult or New Age.

All I'm saying is that just because you don't "agree with everything I do" doesn't mean I don't disagree with everything you DON'T do. ;)
Blessings and peace be with you, your brother in the Catholic Church.
