  • Your face skin is a different color than the rest of your skin :/

  • it's so interesting that you say they tend to be pink on you, i also require the lightest shade (i've tried the superstay and found it to be too yellow). Being fair and drugstore foundations don't mix in my experience

  • i SERIOUSLY love all your reviews. YOU ROCK.

  • I'm glad I watched your review. I have such a hard time finding a drugstore brand to match my skin tone. Maybe I'll try a tester??

  • Perfect review. Was going to buy it. You save my ass every time, haha. Definitely not buying it now :)

  • It is not oxidation. This happens with most water based foundations when they dry - pigment gets more concentrated as water evaporates.

  • Sorry if someone already asked, but where did you get your earring? ME LIKEY!!!

  • :( i'm sorry it didn't work for you, i picked it up this weekend and i can confidentally say it's probably my new go-to foundation (of course it didn't oxidate for me as it did for you).

  • quite possibly a stupid question, but are you shaking the bottle of foundation before applying?

  • What lip color are you wearing?

  • Your the bomb...god bless and ty for all your time and efforts.

  • do u hv a tutorial on this makeup look? if not wt do u use including ur foundation?

  • do u hv a tutorial on this makeup look? if not wt do u use including ur foundation?

  • i need your earrings!

  • Thanks for the short and to the point review!

    It was good info!

  • you know of all the make up gurus that i've subscribed on, you're the only one who takes time to give the effort of responding to her subscriber. i like that attitude gina :) keep it up! luv luv luv your vids :D

  • @ginabinawina99 i think you mean "golden" it is a peachy goldeny color that doesnt really look yellow or pink... <3 i have the same thing and alot of people say that that is why i have problems finding a foundation match

  • @lelalu101 yess!! it makes sense as if you mix pink and yellow you get orange and peach! I saw cover fx has a foundation color called peaches n cream.. haah makes sense now!

  • @ginabinawina99 haha yeah... but i only know because on of the artists at nordstrom met me at one point and then recognized me because of my skin undertone... lol that was how she described it..

  • This stuff sucks if u don't have dry skin

  • I thought it was way too greasy. Thank you for your post. I wish I saw it before I brought the product.

  • this stuff doesn't stay on my skin. weird.

  • Hi Gina.. I also did not care for the FIT, not enough coverage and it faded on me. But I decided to use for tinted moisterizer. I just take my Burts Bees day face cream about a quarter size on my hand and mix one or two drops of the FIT (235) and it makes a great TM. Once it sinks in your skin it gives such a nice healthy look without feeling like makeup.

  • I have the same issue, Maybelline is way too pink . I guess I'll skip this. Thanks!!

  • Great review~! You look stunning! :) You have the best reviews! :)

  • your so pretty!!

  • I had the same problem :(

I loved the consistency and finish but it seemed to almost enhance the redness on my face!

  • @amdamelio I agree 100%! hopefully I find the lighter shade and it works because the finish was pretty lovely! And YES! My skin is getting much more picky and sensitive and it turns red on a dime. Don't need foundation enhancing that!

  • the color of your face and neck are so different in this video! I guess that's due to the oxidation :(

  • @lelechim in this case I can't blame the fit me. I think its my new camera doing it! It's driving me nuts! one moment I look orange and the next I'm white as a ghost! I'm in reality somewhere in between!

  • GINA!!! i don't know what type of skin you have, but can you give a review of the loreal smooth souffle? i've heard a couple of things but am afraid to try it.

  • oohh gina i LOVE your hair like this! =)

  • I have been using it and liked how it matched at first. But, i find that the coverage is too light for me. The finish is also very streaky. It also does darken too much over time. Add the oil from my face and I think that i will keep on looking for my HG foundation.

  • I would have the same issue as you b/c I don't have real pink or real yellow undertones...I looked at the foundation in the store and the one that could have been my color was way too pink!

  • I bought 115 and it was too pink, so I got 110 and it's very light, but more yellow toned. It took forever to get to Canada, I like it.

  • @pinkabuki I don't think i'll be able to find it! I'm going to return this one today and see if I can, otherwise I may exchange it for another superstay 24 hr. I hear they've fixed some of their shades!

  • @ginabinawina99 definitely let us know how that goes. I bought superstay when it first came out, in the lightest colour and it was the most horrible pink I've ever seen.

  • I bought this yesterday in 125 and noticed the oxidation even before i saw your video. I wore it again this morning and within 5 minutes my face was more of an orangy tone :/ I had to take it off! Ugh!! I really like the consistency but can't deal with the color change. Not sure if i want to try the 120, although for the cost i just might. :)

  • It is hard for me to find a match in drugstores foundation. i don't know how to colormatch myself. I am an NC20.in mac studio fix fluid.

  • if you're not pink or yellow under toned, are you neutral? I only ask because I feel the same way about myself. Thanks!

  • Almost picked this up last week. Glad I waited:oP

    *big hugs*

  • i am having the same problem with trying to find my color , i think i am fair but when i bought the 120 it was too light then i got 130/135 since i can;t seem to find 125 , still going back and forth w/130/135 lol ......

  • thank you so much for this review!!

    it really helped!

  • totally agree

  • The liquid foundations oxiidize on me but not the cream makeup by Maybelline.

  • Hi Gina, love your bangs like that and your hair looks gorgeous! I have never had any luck with Maybelline liquid foundations, so I won't even try this one. xoxo :) Carla

  • What is it about a foundation that causes it to 'oxidize'? Could you do a little tutorial on what this is and why it happens? Which foundations are big culprits for this and which ones aren't? Is there any way to counteract a foundation that oxidizes?

  • great review! I have not heard anything good about this foundation. Thanks for sharing! ~Theresa :)

  • I'll preface by saying how much I enjoy your videos. I've been using this foundation since it's release. While I agree that it does oxidize on the skin. I wear NW 20 in MAC, so I purchased this foundation in both 115 and 120. On me, rather than oxidizing to "pink" the 120 definitely oxidizes more to the "yellow" side, and ends up a decent match for my pinkish undertones. I found the 115 oxidizes to pink, and does not work for me at all.

  • @tangobird2k i must try the 110 as the 120 was too dark for me .I tested both on my hand the day I bought 115 because I felt the 120 was more beige (neutral). normally I can swing either tone because I have both, and even now I have more pink showing through than normal because I'm so fair, but even with mainly pink undertones I can't imagine this shade working well. man I must be closer to n15 than I thought

  • You seem to have a fair olive complexion. Maybe a foundation with a tad more yellow would be a better choice. It is so hard to tell over the computer exactly what your tone is but one thing I can tell for sure is that your skin is beautiful.

  • @scruffy281 I do hear that mua's use beige/neutral or less pink undertoned shades on older women, even with pink tones, as the slight hint of yellow can help lift the face and brighten(and neutralize redness). It makes sense as this foundation made me feel old when I wore it. But yes, I'm more neutral/olive ( i think its pretty much the same) as I have both yellow and pink tones, but lately I've been more pink with becoming so fair, so if it hadn't dried darker I could've swung the color. Hugs!

  • I have a huge oxidation problem also. BUMMER!!! MAC was always turning orange on me. I use Revlon Color Stay now and have never had that issue with this foundation or with Shisiedo either. What is up with the pink in Maybelline make-up? Their face make-up (foundation, powder, concealer etc...) has always had that cheap pinky tone to it. They really need to step up their game on this issue. I really wanted to try this product. As usual, great review! Thanks for saving me a few dollars! :)

  • I have to agree Gina; who wants to look like an oompa loompa? Not I, that's for sure! Lol...thanks for the review! Contemplated trying this one, but I think I'm going to hold off and try the CoverFX. Take care :)

  • -oh and one more thing..I have a question: have u ever tried graftobian foundation? Mehron foundation? I have been watching gossmakeupartist and tried graftobian bc of him-more neutral found. shades to choose from, mehron didn't have a good match 4 me. Just wondering.. :) I'm the shade "bombshell"-lightest neutral shade in graftobian.

  • Hello :) great video! I don't know if this will help u at all, since this shade might oxadize too..but I saw a shade called porcelain on the wal-mart website that I'm pretty sure is lighter than this 115 shade, I wanna say it's number 110, maybe u wanna try that one out..I have not yet seen that shade out on shelves but maybe I haven't looked hard enough! Hope that helps! Ps: this porcelain shade looks much more neutral undertoned and less pinky than the rest..

  • Awww...that's too bad it didn't work for you! I had the opposite experience. My HG is MUFE f&b, but can't afford it right now, so tried this. Love it, but I'm olive skinned w/ yellow undertones. It also did a good job of hiding my eczema. Will look oit for the oxidation, but so far so good for me. Thanks for your perspective! =)

  • interesting because that is the same issues I had with the smooth mousse! I chose the second lightest shade and within an hour it was 2 shades darker than my skin and looked very orange. I'm glad you reviewed this girl!

  • Where did you get your earrings??

  • Gina, have you tried the new L'Oreal Serum Absolute foundation? I picked it up after reading tons of rave reviews on MUA, and it's really nice! Has a very natural finish. Would love to see a review from you if you try it.

  • where did you buy yours?

  • Thanks so much for the review and warning of looking like an oompa loompa.

  • I have the 110. I found it at my local walmart. The walgreens and Target close to me both did not have the 110. I have not experienced the 110 oxidization but I apply the product very sheer. The 110 does seem a tad light for me because I have a lot of freckles but it matches me a lot better than the smooth mouse in 110.

  • Great review! All the liquid MAC foundations I'\ve tested change color on me too - it's awful!

  • Is the mac mineralized duo in green available?

  • I wonder if Maybelline is adding the testers because they are aware of the oxidation problem?

  • They had 110 at a Walmart near me. I got it. It was actually a lil too light for me, it may have darkened some after a bit, but, I like true to color now! Still, in the end, I didn't like it. It wanted to do that scaly look thing on my face, and I don't really have dry skin. Wasn't as bad as some foundations tho. And, it started falling off my face after a few hrs. Really noticeable on my nose and chin. :0( The powder is OK, tho. Nothing to write home about, but in a pinch, it'll suffice.

  • I was just at your website where you did the testing but I can't seem to get my comment to work so I'll post it here. I am amazed that you went through all this for a cheap foundation. :D Thanks for all the testing and the review. I won't be buying it now. The same thing happens to me when I use the Rimmel Matte foundation. It turns orangy and you can see all the pores in my skin. I used it twice and threw it away. I would have taken it back but I didn't have a receipt.

  • @LizKS48 aww thanks! It's my pleasure and I love doing stuff like this! I did it not only for the fit me, but I have had other foundations, even high end, that do the same thing. It was driving me nuts and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what the cause was, not to mention there's so much contradicting information out there. xox!

  • I actually really like this foundation. I'm the same shade and I find that it doesn't oxidize on me or make my skin excessively oily (which I've heard a lot of complaints about). I think it all depends on the individual.

  • Is that the foundation you're wearing in this video? Only asking because it seems like your face is a warmer color than your neck. Or maybe it's just my computer monitor...or I'm just losing my mind, lol.

  • I've seen a few people wearing this and they also have turned orange. Yuck, I am not buying.

  • Fit Me is my HG also! 120 is more yellow undertoned than the 2 on either side of it. I wonder if the oxidization has to do with your personal pH? Definitely didn't happen to me and I've been LOVING this foundation for a few weeks now, goes on like a dream and leaves a slightly dewy finish which is awesome on my dry skin.

  • what do u mean oxidation? how does makeup oxidize? i dont know if makeup ever oxidizes on me bc i dont know what im looking for =)

  • You should try another color, because It doesnt oxidize on me at all, I love it, and I usually hate drug store foundation.

  • gina- all i can say is cover fx- i want to find a cheaper good alternative but its just a waste of money i think- great review you took away all my what if.. is it?-- maybe--- LOL thanks x shelly

  • @magicadespell56 raul grabbed me a sample of three shades! I'm excited to try it. I was telling Gina how you've been telling me over and over the past couple months and how I'd think about it and forget!

  • Thank you so much for this video!!

  • my memory is sooo bad! lol I wanted you to do a review on this foundation but I cant remeber if I asked you or not...LOl that is a crime and a shame!lol as one of my friends would say! anywho thanks for the review!

  • Yep changed colors on me and made me very oily...RETURNED!!!!!

  • Foundations sometimes react to the pH level of your skin. Try using a toner, which helps balance the pH. It will go a long way toward preventing oxidation .

  • @LallyPopp I could see where pH can affect pigment. However, our skin shouldn't be a balanced pH and should always be a bit acidic (acidic mantle). Balanced or neutral is 7 and we never want our skin to be more neutral or basic because that's what helps our skin fight bacteria/disease. However, I do know most toners have acids (salicylic etc)

  • @LallyPopp oh I forgot! I also used a primer half of the time and you'd think that'd create a barrier. This also leads me to believe it's oxidation through air exposure (ie: iron)

  • @PoshPatootie a foundation that is gives a similar finish to this fit me foundation and does not oxidize and has longer staying power is the neutrogena healthy skin liquid makeup... i really love it :)

  • This foundation didn't work for me either!

  • I am a neutral undertone and I had the same problem - it started noticeably darkening, to the point that someone else noticed - ouch. I can generally go either pink or yellow, but do better with pink if the foundation has a strong undertone. I have noticed that almost everyone who tries this (in person, since you can't 100% from a YT video) has the same issue, though less pronounced on definite warm undertones. Too bad, too - I was excited about this one. :(

  • oompa loompa doompady do

  • im sure u dnt want to to do this n document it...but i was nopin to see see wat is is when u say it oxidizes...i didnt see anything noticable on the hand swatch. Im curious cuz im new to makeup n ur the 1st person i hear in yt to mention oxidizing so now im curious. i dnt want to walk around thinkin my makeup is cute n im oxidizing but i dnt knw wat it looks like. i figd it'd b more noticable for me to see on a whole face...jus a thought, if u can. Ty! Love ur reviews!

  • I'm not sure if it's your lighting but your neck does not match your face. Your face looks more yellow than your neck, which looks pink.

  • ur hand lukss pinkk..is tht wats gnna happend to the face??

  • Where'd u get your earrings?

  • This might be a dumb question, but what causes foundations to oxidize? is there an ingredient i can look for and avoid? thanks for the review.

  • i have the shade 310 and it turns kind of orange through out my school day..

  • Can u do a review on the Tarte Recreate Foundation?????? Please :)

  • I have the 120 and I have to mix it with my Revlon Color Stay in Buff because on its own it looks too pink.

  • I have the 120 and I have to mix it with my Revlon Color Stay in Buff because on its own it looks to pink.

  • I think you'll be happy with the 110. It's as light as the 115 but more porcelain.

  • oh dear, yes I hate oxidisation! sorry to hear it didn't work out, lucky you being able to get a refund though. Thanks for the warning!

    xx

  • i just bought a bottle of this yesterday after using the sample for a while. i love it! its the only foundation i have tried that feels like nothing and looks natural. like my cheek color shows through along with my few freckles. but cover up all my scarring and redness :) mine doesnt change colors though :/

  • Gina, they have reformulated the superstay in porcelain ivory and its much less pink i had the same problem cause im not pink but not really yellow like you and this new color of the porcelain ivory is way better then the older one!! thought id let you know since you said you loved the foundation so much!

  • gina, should one use a primer with mineral foundation, or will it make it slide off? what is the best sort of primer for mineral makeup? thank you dear!

  • Yayyyyy that's cool testers

  • Hmm I was really thinking about getting this but now I'm not

  • You look pretty:)

  • I had to return mine also! I got 130and i'm medium tone and it was still to dark and orange! And it left me looking greasy!

  • This foundation is for people with dry to very dry skin.. if you have oily skin or even combination skin, do not try this!! You will look like a grease ball if you do so.

  • I found it oxidized as well, but - what bothered me even more - is that it never really "sets"....it seems to sit on top of my skin. I have dry/combination skin and was looking for a bit more coverage as well. I think it's buildable, but then you have even more product sitting on your skin. Not for me, but I know many women love it. For a drug store foundation I DO love the new L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle...great color match for me, makes pores look smaller and it doesn't oxidize. Yeah !

  • is it strange that I'm HAPPY your didn't like this, so now i'm not tempted to go buy it?! :P

  • I feel like the reason why I love this foundation is because it oxidizes! I'm very peachy/red toned and I thought this would be way too yellow for me and it is when I first apply it, but after like 20 min it just looks so flawless. The center of my face is yellow-peachy and the outer is red-peachy. However i wear 355 Coconut, so maybe it's easier for darker skin tones and oxidizing.

  • Hey hun ... I have had it for awhile also I am super fair and pink also.. I used 120 very lightly and really like it. Its to bad u had this prob. I actually have a video I need to upload about it... love your vids :) best val

  • Thanks for this info. I have a hard time with my foundations oxidizing. I work 10 hr shifts, and am always mortified when I check my face at hour 6 and it is orange. By hour 10, I am soooo glad I am going home that I actually wipe it off as I go home. It's sedona orange/red by that time. It's so bad and I am so embarrassed that people must think I can't color match. Thank you, I think I will skip this one! :-)

  • ugh... that's the worst thing that can happen with a foundation!!! xoxo

  • I find a lot of drugstore foundations don't match me...i always buy the lightest colour and its too dark for me or its too yellow or its too pink arghh lol!

  • It's disappointing that I can't find 110 anywhere. 115 is okay, since I use it lightly, but I wish drugstores would carry the fairest AND darkest shades.

I didn't notice much of a problem with oxidation, but it might just be a difference in skin. :)

  • Did you darken your hair? It looks great ;-)) Gawd that looks almost as bad as the Korres Wild Rose....totally oompahloompah!! ;-P

  • I kept hearing this foundation was just like chanel pro lumiere which is my fave. OMG, it's not even close. I just detested this foundation and the concealer even more. The powder is ok. What a waste of money.

  • i just messaged you!

  • i hate that 2, orange foundation lines r gross

  • just bought it and lemme tell you, I love it!

  • Gina- i hadnt seen it either until i say a diff. YT guru mention that diff. stores had diff. shades so i checked the maybelline site and sure enough it lists a 110 and then i was at a pacific northwest store called "fred meyer" and i found shade 110! its perfect on my mac nc15 skintone. its not pinky at all. !!!! i doub

  • I am so glad you did this review. I have been wanting to try it for a long time but I'm always hesitant.I think I'll pass on this one.I am extremely fair too & don't wanna look orange! Yikes!!

  • I've only had this foundation for a couple days but so far it is my favorite. I love the texture and coverage and how it looks on my face. So far the only con I see about it is the staying power of it on the oily parts of my face.

  • 110 is the lightest. check the maybelline site!

  • @avasm4 man!! I've not seen 110! and i've been to walgreen, rite aid and walmart!I have 110 in the smooth mousse

  • Gina, just so you know the odd shades are cool undertones and the even warm. Try exchanging that for shade 120, which is fair as well just more yellow. Great review though.

  • @Thekatieab 120 was too dark and did a similar thing to me. I swatch both 115 and 120 on my hand as I shopped but I went against my judgement and bought it anyway because I liked the feel! Aside from this issue on me i really liked it!

  • @ginabinawina99 Im pretty fair (NW20), and tried 120 and its damn near orange on me after about 5 minutes after putting it on.

  • what is " oxiditon" or what ever you said mean?

  • @coookieeex27 reaction to light or your own skin oil. many foundations react chemiclty to own oil production and get yellow or darker then they should.

  • @coookieeex27 you're familiar with rust, right? like when iron rusts? The same principles apply with certain chemicals/pigments in makeup. xox

  • This is my Hg' foundation gina i love it i am super super dry though. i found that some stores carry diff. shades then other stores . im super fair and i found shade 110 and its super pale. not pink at all

  • @avasm4 i can't find it!! I was disappointed because I have 110 in the smooth mousse.

  • ooh! I've been curious about this. thanks for reviewing!
