  • is the color on your car viper blue?

  • @500alam Sorry for the delay, but yes the color is Viper Blue.

  • Color name?

  • @CherryHeroin Viper Blue, I posted the color code at an earlier date in this comment thread.

  • any updates on this beautiful mustang?

  • @lancer7610 Thanks for checking it out. I have been doing a complete rebuild over the past few years, lot of changes though. She's ready for paint, but dropping the 393 Stroker in it and moving to a 5 speed, just waiting on a flywheel. No real rush since fall is fast approaching here in the east coast.

  • Nice Mustang sounds fast and looks great, nice paint job

  • @Exit102AsburyPark Thanks for the compliments!

  • A M A Z I N G... I wanna buy one with the same color..Cogratulations

  • Beautiful car

  • Your car inspired mine, have you any updates on yours...

  • @TheGTstang Yeah, I'm making progress, but no video at the moment, just pics. If you're on FB look me up slswope@hotmail.com

  • Yours was the car that got me thinking blue and White stripes. Mines Guardsman Blue with Diamond White stripes...66 GT coupe with an A code. That was 2 years ago ;-)

Have posted some vids of mine now, thanks for the inspiration. Any updates on yours?

  • very nice

  • Amazing! What engine is on that and how much did you buy it for?

  • Nice man check out mine

  • do you have a special exhaust system on that like flowmasters, magnaflow or anything thank you

  • man thats a bad car good looking to

  • Comment removed

  • I just bought a 66 mustang 289 and I cant make up my mind as far as what kind of shorty headers I should add, especially what type of dual exhaust. Can someone please help.......thank you

  • @skytrooper30 i dont know man i going to buy one to

  • what cam do u have?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, she's a beauty!! I've been wanting to do a restoration for a while now, and I'm finally getting to the point where I have the financial means to do so. I'm a little bit overwhelmed by how much stuff is out there, so where do you recommend for a beginner to start? Thanks, Jim.

  • @milkman031 I guess it would depend on what shape yours is in and how long do you want to keep it. I've spent a lot of money in mine but I'm keeping it, so it doesn't matter to me. Typically water and debris get into the cowl section and start rusting out the edges and goes down the firewall and into the floors. The front battery tray and frame rails are another spot to check. All of these are replacable. For parts, I used dynacorn personally. High quality stuff.

  • that sounds freakin beastly

  • @Honda040life thanks, I can't wait to get her out next spring hopefully.

  • dude sweet lawn mower! what is that a 23 inch cut LOL! for real yo sweet ride.

  • @jasonpcaa Thanks... sure keeps the weeds away

  • my pap gave me a 1966 ford mustang coupe i am going to paint it red.

  • @68carfreak Congrats and good luck on the project

  • That has a beautiful rumble sound Im restoring the same type 66 mustang coupe Do u recommend a good engine like yours?

  • The engine in the video is a 289, probably one of my favorites of all times. I've had 289's in a few of my other cars and they are almost bullet proof. Since this video, I've built a 393 stoker (351W built).

  • How do you like the Windsor so far?

  • I haven't had put the engine in yet. It's still torn down, getting ready to put a quad link rear suspension in it and a manual 6 speed

  • @BlackLabelFREAK The 289 is an awesome engine, I love it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

  • @SVTSCOTT about how much hp/troque do you think yours have?

  • @1992dakota 409hp and 446 lbs of torque at 4300 rpm running a 600 cfm carb.

  • Thats got Balls!

  • sounds soooooo nice

  • whats the the name of the color i know it's blue but

  • AU109SBE/PBE Viper Gts Blue Prl The color is from a Dodge Viper

  • gorgeous

  • hey i just recently purchased a 65 mustang and was wondering what color to paint it....i really like ur color what is the exact name of that blue? please and thankyou

  • view earlier comments, I have the paint code posted in a previous post

  • Im guessing this is the finished project

  • Nope, the slide show represents it's current state of being.

  • is it a K code engine or A code

  • It was an A code

  • nice ford mustang u have there what blue is it soon i will be posting my mustang on utube just a slide show from start 2 finished

  • Thanks, I had to think hard about going with stripes or no stripes. Glad I did though.

  • nice mine will be the same but red with black stripes. I LOVE THOSE TAIL LIGHTS!

  • What a beautiful car! Nice bodywork (L)

  • Thank you, the car has been torn back down for more extensive work, I'm hoping to post a slide show soon.

  • what cam were you running? and what exhaust set-up? hi po?

  • I honestly don't remember, it was a wolverine cam that came with a complete engine kit. The engine is a 289 bored .030 over

  • thanks man i appreciate it, congrats on yours!

  • nice, nice ride. sounds great and looks amazing. i've got a '65 that im building a roller 302 for now. what is the color on yours?

  • Thanks and good luck with your ride. The color is called Viper Blue.

  • That blue is stunning. Reminds me of the M3 blue. Beautiful.

  • that a 289 hipo, nice car fastbacks are cool to

  • That engine is a 289 that had been built a bit. The car currently has a 393 Stroker in it.

  • im doing a 1966 mustange coupe at the moment too hopfully it will be about a 6-8 month project, how long did this take you?

  • well this car was a wreck when I got it, had to replace just about every piece of sheet metal except the roof and doors. I guess it all depends on what shape yours is in and how far you want to go with it. I've been working on this when I get time for the past 10 years honestly. I just bought new front suspension to convert it to rack and pinion and get rid of the shock towers.. hopefully I can get that done this summer.

  • I like the straight monte carlo better

  • as in straight monte carlo bar in the engine bay? Those shock towers are soon to be eliminated so I'll have to part with the old set up.

  • It`s been restored with lots of love, thats what I can see :)

  • this coupe is so clean. This is exactly how I wnat mines. you did a Great job

  • thank you, I want to finish it up this year. I bought a new front suspension from Rod and Custom motorsports but I haven't found the time to tear it down and put the new in.

  • flowmaster?open headers?I also want to have this:)

  • Open headers in the video, since then I've replace the engine with a 393 stroker, but haven't got it together yet. Will post a vid when i can

  • are you going to convert that into a fastback?

  • nah, but with all of the parts that are on the market today, it would be neat to give a try. You can get the whole roof, plus the fastback full quarters, I'm not sure where that would place the doors and rear quarter window though.

  • Darn man thats nice and btw that focus svt u got is pretty slick

  • Thanks for the comments, I just completed a lower end rebuild of the focus, when the weather is nice, I'll shoot another vid. As for the mustang, still waiting to swap out the front suspension to get rid of the shock towers so I can fit the exhaust.

  • my dad just got himself a '66 289 coupe a couple of days ago. He wants to put in a exhaust system to make is sound nice but were not really sure what kind we should get. what kind did u put in? what do u recommend to make it sound good?

  • first you need to check the motor out and get the motor running smooth with no nicks before you think about the exhaust. Exhaust i say get a nice cam, headman headers or the patriots are nice, and i think flowmaster 40s sound GOOD on 289s. But if you dont want to make it really loud go with a 50 series flowmaster or do i dare say magnaflow.

  • nice mustang. i really like the color and was wondering wat it was exactly because i want to paint mine almost like that

  • if you look at all of the comments, I've noted the paint code in an earlier post. Viper Blue though.

  • nice mustang scott!

  • How much is a paint job on these older cars? I'm going to get myself a 66 mustang that has been garaged for years and in great condition for around 6K. But I want to change the color to something like yours. How much would the paint job cost?

  • Well that's a tricky question, depends on how much prep work has to be done, even the little imperfections take time. There is also the cost of material, basically what quality of paint do you want to buy. I would say, your range could be between 1500 to 4500. I would guess I had in more then 2500 but I didn't go with the highest quality I could go. I'm actually regretting that now to be honest with you.

  • That's not a high quality paint job? Are you serious about that??? How can that be? The paint looks great. How big is the difference then?

  • Well it does look good in this instance, but this paint is a metallic and also has a pearl coating, when you see the car up close, there are light and dark spots where the metallic wasn't mixed well, it's pretty obvious in bright sunlight, it's also begun to chip at the slightest bump. When I work on things, I've got to be super careful. I'll see if I can show you some examples

  • jajaja this mustang is made by overhaulin

  • Boy don't I wish. They can still come and finish it off for me.

  • hey stvscott how much was in in total to resort that beauty

    plz

  • Well to be honest, I've lost track of how much money I have invested in parts. I still have a folder full of receipts. I recently replaced the engine and have about 8k in it alone, as for the body and work, I'd say close to 6 or 7k the only thing I didn't replace were the doors and trunk lid, most of the metal has all been replaced. I've yet to complete the interior. I've got too many other projects going on so I haven't touch the stang in a while.

  • so u'll spend like 20k before ur done

  • Not necessarily I paid 500 for the original body with no engine, I already had that. I got a great deal on the toploader, but had to rebuild it. I did most of the work myself and that saved a lot of time. I know the cost can add up, but it's your car and doing to work is part of the fun.

  • Hi umm i was wondering r those straight pipes on ur car

  • No, honestly, I had the pipes disconnected from the headers, so it's basically straight headers (long)

  • kk thanks

  • hi! im from argentina an im restoring my 65 pony. con u tell me the sizes and specifications of those wheels? i love the ones you put to it!

    thanks!!!!

    federico

  • Hi, the wheels are from American Racing and are polished aluminum 16 inch Torque Thrust II's

  • cool ride!

  • Depending on how good the overall body is already on the mustang, you shouldn't have to much in a mild resto. Normally they don't sell real high so I would suggest not putting a lot into it. I have around 10K in mine so far and I am resto-modding it.

  • how much does it cost to restore a 66 mustang coupe? im thinking of doign it my self...just getting some info in....your info would be the most of help

  • i love old stangs

  • Can you give spec on that CAM

  • honestly I can't remember what it was, when I bought the rebuild kit, it all came together. I don't have that engine in the car any longer though.

  • could you please tell me the color i am waiting to get my 66 painted and if you could tell me asap thnx

  • AU109SBE/PBE Viper Gts Blue Prl The color is from a Dodge Viper

  • what type of front bumper/spoiler is that and where did you get it

  • The front apron is a cobra r model racing apron that I bought from Tony D Branda. There is no front bumper when you go with this set up.

  • V8?

  • yep, the car has a 289 in this video, I currently have a 393 stroker in it now, but no video yet.

  • What are you going to do with the 289?

  • Well I sold the 289 to a guy that bought my 70 Bronco, I have another one but it needs rebuilt.

  • What you going to do with the other 289

  • What a car, how much would that be worth now?

  • I honestly don't know, when you make modifications other than original restorations, it can scare folks aware for some reason. I wouldn't sell it for less then 10K

  • keep up the good work.

  • what is the cam your running? And what have you done with the exhaust?

  • I really don't remember what cam i was running at the time. As for exhaust, this was running straight headers.

  • Very nice, I wish I would have kept and finished the 66 coupe I had a few years back.

  • i love you.

  • Wow. That is a beautiful Mustang! And that low rumble of the engine...it gives me chills. All I can say is good work! Hey, did you stay stock with the suspension or did you make any modifications?

  • I converted the front suspension to a disc brake setup from a granada and went with an inch lower front spring, and lowered the rear with a 2 inch lowering block.

  • very nice, im restoring a 65 atm

  • me too

  • What wheels are those? And what size cam, 'cause it has a REALLY nice lope. My dad has a '66 coupe thats also blue, its been restored now for 13 years. One day i want my own '66 coupe, and just today i found out that Mustangs Unlimited sells a 347 (stroked 302) that has 450hp!! Slap a low-rising supercharger and you've got a 700hp stallion!

  • The wheels are American racing Torque Thrust 16 inch polished aluminum, not chrome. I don't remember what the cam size was. I've since sold that 289 and now have a 393 stroker in it, just trying to find a set of headers to fit in the engine compartment without tweaking the shock towers.

  • What do you stroke to get a 393? My dad had trouble finding headers for his 302 also, but its fine now. Hope you can find some headers!

  • I had an older 351W that I had the work done to. From what I've read you can take a 351W and stroke it to a 427, but I like being more on the cautious side of things.

  • I like it!

    Les

  • I love mustangs .i have 2 myself one is a 66 and i want to know what the name of that blue is .

  • The color is Viper Gts Blue Pearl, see color code on previous post.

  • Beautiful car. Im in the process of restoring a 66. DId you have any trouble with the cowl vents? mine are awful.

  • Yeah, mine were totally shot, I bought drilled all of the spot welds out and romoved the top cover than bought the replacement panel for each side. I made sure I coated everything with a dose of POR15 before I put it back together. They make a complete replacement panel for the 67 & 68 Mustang, but not for the 65-66 yet. That would be the way to go.

  • That's a really nice car. Just in my opinion, I like mustangs a lot more when they're restored to original condition. But I am savin up money to buy a 60s mustang and only restore it just to go fast. I plan on putting a 408 in it and get a racing suspesion and stuff.

  • well the car was so rough when I started that I figured there was no sense in trying to make it original, so I built it the way it is currently. That's the nice thing about them, you can pretty much personalize them to fit the way you like 'em

  • I like the paint. What is the color?

Do you know the make and paint code?

  • AU109SBE/PBE Viper Gts Blue Prl The color is from a Dodge Viper

  • Thank you....I appreciate your reply and information.

  • Cool stang, I have one that looks almost just like it. Check it out on my profile!

  • thats definately open headers. the sound doesnt change as you walk around the car. if your running exhaust, then you can hear the deep tone from the rear but in the front you can hear only engine, no exhaust. beautiful car by the way. one of my dreams is to own some of them torq thrust 2's someday.

  • You're right, I did have open headers on it then. I oringally had new exhaust on it with a C4 and shorty headers, but had to go with full length headers when I put the toploader in it because of allowing room for the clutch z-bar.

  • hahaha

i thought so. na thats an awsome car u got there. Did you start from scratch from an old body?

  • Yeah, when I bought the car it was a total wreck, more like a Flintstone mobile, the metal I haven't replaced on the car are the doors and roof, the rest I've replaced, even the troublesome cowl panel.

  • i like the lawnmower, its a beast.

  • Aw man you called my bluff, I was hoping people wouldn't notice that it was really the lawn mower running not the Mustang :)

  • hey

i have a 1966 mustang and im looking for a sound like this

what did u do to it to get the sound?

  • As I mentioned in an earlier reply, this engine was bored .30 over, had the heads ported and planed, mild cam, Holley 650, but in all honesty, when I shot this vid, it may have been running on open headers.

  • Ok thanks!by the way it sounds beatiful!

  • what about sway bars? You can get 1 1/8 inch for the front and 1 inch for the back. takes all roll out of it in turns. You do need to beef up the rear supports for the rear sway bar or they will pull through in time. also it is not good to jack the car from one point as it really loads the other side

  • Nice work

Have you worked on the suspension?

  • Yeah, I have. I did the Granada front disc break conversion and then used 1" lower front springs. I also replace the rear leaf springs and added a 2" lowering block. I want to sit closest to the road as I can for better handling. I hope to have more videos posted soon.

  • Very nice. What's been done to the engine? I too have a '66 289 and i'm looking for that sound

  • Bored it 30 over and put a mild cam in it. Also running 3 inch exhaust. I just sold the engine last night, putting in a 393 stroker, will post vid when it's in. 289's are awesome and dependable engines.

  • Thats one badass car!! Nice work!
