  • I have just bought a 54 in monitor that is in great condition and I'm trying hook it up to my xbox. I have the cords to hook up the xbox to a hdtv (red/yellow/white/blue/green/ect) Can i use this cord for doing the same thing you are? I also have a receiver that is hooked up to a shit load of speakers. So the red/white cords should just get put into it?

  • Can you plz tell me can you do this with the new xbox 360 thats all i wnna know

  • @ADEAZE907

just buy a cable from walmart called an HDMI one. they are specifically made by microsoft. You can just plug that into the back, then the other end into the back of your computer or computer monitor.

  • @ADEAZE907 it depends. if your computer input is vga then buy a vga cable if it is dvi or hdmi buy a hdmi cable

  • HDMI to DVI.

  • I got one of those cables for free. I found it in a directv box in the staircase closet with a ton of other cables like a long ethernet cable and not cheap stuff.

  • call of duty 4 is hella old, and is there any way i can hook it up to my computer with the normal av cables?

  • @JeffHardyRules2580

No not with the standard cables. But their is a new cable called an HDMI cable. If your monitor is newer it might have that input in the back. This cable is now made for xbox and you can find them at k/mart/ walmart.

  • hey.i've a acer s231hl which doesn't have any audio out.now i am using xbox 360 on it through hdmi cable.now tell me how to get sound.plz i m seriously in need of it.

  • @MegaVaibhav420

alright, so you will have your red and white cables for sound. do you have any sort of stereo, with the inputs for red and white? I have a logitech surround sound system, so I just plug it into their.

  • Can I use a gaming headset (turtle beach) instead of the audio cable?

  • i have 2 plug ins on the back of my monitor one is blue vga and the other is white< is the white plug dmi?

  • @CounterSteakSauce It won't suck because your graphics card is in your computer, not your monitor

  • can you do it without vga?

  • PLZ HELP: MY COMPUTER DOES NOT HAVE A VGA INPUT ARE THERE ANY ALTERNET WAYS OF DOING THIS? THNX

  • I need you to send me an email with all the steps for the audio part cuz i understand the video part but not the audio

  • @LittleBuddy524

I can just reply right here.

When you have everything hooked up you will have the red/white audio cables like normal. so plug them in how you would normally, like a tv. that's kinda dumb, but if you don't have a stereo speaker system or any other kind of external speakers then that's what you have to do

  • u sould make a gaming setup vidoe

  • @xjamestoddx haha my setup doesn't deserve a video

  • @aildfan08 thats not nices mister ur set up is batter then mine

  • Lol, guys on your team are like "wtf is he doing?"

  • wait so for the audio are you talking about the xbox av cable then you remove the plastic with the hdtv and tv setting because is too bulky?

  • @Layziie66

    no problem! :)

  • hey when i play using a *pay attention* Dazzle NON PLATINUM Capture Card, importing with Pinnacle Studio 14, the video quality is crap, the lagginess from either the setup or graphics card is horrible, Ive set it for lowest quality and lowest amount of space, its still like the worst lag you have ever experienced on modern warfare 2 x5, do you know a way to fix it?

  • how do i get audio, im no dumbshit but how? if i get the old default video audio cables? and plug my turtles in?

  • so will that connect u to live or do u have to already have it?

  • @DIRTYNASTYBOYZ

    uhhhh....

did you not watch the video?

  • I trick for your xbox, don't put it on carpet, static makes it worse. But very good tutorial, now I can hear modern warfare 2 online.

  • Do microsoft give any type of cable that enables you to do this? im keen to hook it up tonight but im wondering if any of the cables i have enable me to do it. Im 100% stock.

  • @dan4jc,

I believe they sell one cable similar to this, but I don't believe it can go to any and every computer monitor

  • merci c exelent

  • wat kind of amplifier and if i just get a monitor a speaker and the plug will it still have sound when i plug it in i use a laptop

  • 1) Plug HDMI end into Xbox

    2) Plug DVI end into monitor

...or use the Xbox 360 to VGA cable.

  • do you play it with the mouse or the controller

  • @stgermainb controller..

  • thanks and lol bought my cable for 20 cents and free shipping ANYWAY thanks and helped much.

  • thanks a lot!

  • no problem!

  • @aildfan08 what if you dont have an amplifier what other options can i use for sound? without buying any more cables?

  • Hey there man, thanks a lot for this.

I was wondering.. How would I go about removing the plastic casing for my cable?

Do I just stick a knife in the lining and tear it off? Thanks!

  • sure you already figured this out, sorry about the late response!

still need an answer tho? let me know

  • so it will on a VGA

  • hi will it work on a laptop

  • I don't have a laptop but check around on the laptop and see if it has a input for DVI

  • so the vga cable plugs into tthhe monitor and the xbox 360 then for sound you plug the 2 from the vga into an amplifier and it will work?

  • you plug the HDMI to DVI/VGA into your computer and xbox. then you use the normal cables for sound into an amplifer suck as a logitech speaker system.

  • I thought the xbox came with the cable?

  • the xbox only comes with audio and video. not the extra 60 dollar cable.

  • Lemme ask you this: The cable you took the piece of plastic off of, is it just the weird trapezoid looking thing to the red yellow and white coaxial cables? Because I have an xbox arcade and the A/V cable is not the same as the ones that shipped with pros. I'm just wondering if you can get audio out of the a/v port and get video from the hdmi port at the same time, as you seem to have done here. My hdmi to DVI converter is in the mail, and I'm trying to find a way to get sound.

  • @Pyrofries,

Yea the cable that I took the piece of plastic off was the essential video and audio plug ins, ( yellow, red, white) Now you said you had a way to get video through the HDMI Port which is key. But your not getting sound? That is very odd. Hook your xbox how you normally would. except to an external device. such as a stereo system, or a logitech computer/gaming system. Hope I helped. Anything not clear, just post your questions here :]

  • Hey man, thanks for the prompt reply.

What I'm really wondering about is if you can get audio from the essential a/v cable and video from the HDMI port at the same time. I haven't tried it yet, my hdmi/dvi adapter is still in the mail... if your rig worked out and the A/V cable is the one that came with the arcade, then I'm pretty sure it'll work for me too.

  • @Pyrofries,

Yea you can get audio from the essential AV cables and video from HDMI, thats why you have to break off that plastic cover over the av cables.

what do you plan to hook up the red and white audio cables up to?

  • Probably the stereo, but that would mean moving some shit around so I'm going to use the computer speakers and an adapter which my dad and I have tons of different kinds of. Either way, the output of the sound is not a problem.

I already broke the cover off but I think the hdmi to dvi adapter will fit, if not I will find a workaround (break the case off the adapter? hahaha.)

  • haha nice,

    glad I helped somewhat

its so much more of a sweet set up when on your computer.

  • Yeah, I can't wait to see it in action. All my entertainment will be in one spot, shit's awesome

  • will just having a ordinary hdmi cable to a hdmi screen still work?

  • yea it should. mot monitors are only dvi so thats why you need hdmi to dvi.

  • when i set it up will i be playing with the controler or the keyboard controller i hope right? lol i feel dumb asking this question

  • 360 controller

  • arg my monitor has NO vga input!! and my other monitor has no headphone jack. D:

    but good video still

  • Is there a way to use a USB cable for video and sound?

  • dont think so

  • what size is your monitor?

  • 22 inch

  • thanks a lot that help me

on my hd computer screen i can hook up the cord and have picture but no sound and i dont have a amplifer do i need to get the convirter if so where can i get it ?

  • yea you will need to get a convirter. My best guess is onlien or radio shack

  • i click the menu button on my monitor WITHOUT and cables plugged in or anything just like a noraml computer and it doesn't give me the dvi option...can i still do this?

  • Your monitor has to support DVI input.

  • thx man and my xbox arcade has no hd-mi plug should i get an elite?

  • no. an arcade has a HDMI plug in. cuz in the video that xbox is a arcade lol . its right next to the inputs (red, yellow, white)

  • can i skip the whole sound part and hook up my usb headset to the xbox and use it as a mic and sound?

  • sure

  • can you do this with a laptop

  • I dont think so

  • yes but u need to make sure you have a vga input on it.

  • NICE DUDE!!!!!!!!!

  • can you make a tuturial on how to hook your stereo system to your computer?

  • no link in dis scrip

  • microsoft has that cable for 40 bucks,

  • i got it for fucking 2.60 on ebay lmaolmaolmao

  • sweet

  • cool

  • Th..the ultimate gaming experience...

  • so epic. i joined that game right after you made that video. coulda been a star..

  • you are a fucking genius man.

  • mine is so much fuckign easier than this

  • it didn't work make another video
