Hi. Enjoy your video's about MS. I don't have a numb nose or face, and don't even know for sure if I have MS. However, I went to the dentist and experienced something weird. I got the local anasthetic shots and could not even feel the needle in the side of my mouth. I had to ask him if he just gave me the lidocaine shot. But my mouth or face does not feel numb. Does this sound like it could be consistant with something like MS or something like you experienced? Thanks
@cliffpov1 It is hard to know. MS gives all sorts of weird symptoms and numbness is one of them. But I guess it doesn't mean all numbness is MS. I have certainly at times had parts of my body that couldn't feel a pin prick so it is possible. If you have other symptoms then it would be worth mentioning to your doctor anyway. Thanks for your comment. Kerri
Hi there I hope evreything works out for you..I'm not diagnosed with MS, but am starting the long journey of finding out if i do or don't / I'm scared though i have been going through "hell" as of lately with tingling, pain (feels like tendons being pulled out), dizziness, right leg goes comp numb, creepy crawlys up spine and head. Today my new symptom is my whole lower face and neck.. Very scary!!!
@tiredofbeingsick Thank you :) I hope the journey in finding out does not take too long. I can relate to much of what you say. It all got a little less scary when I knew what I was dealing with - not that you want to have an illness - but at the very least you can understand what is happening. Kerri
i have half my face and head go numb like the dentist feeling i was just my right side it felt weird. took 3 months to come back to normal... i also have epilepsy and tegratol but only for the epilepsy i do have jerks but maybe thats why my nuro didnt make a big deal since i was already it.
I'm a medical student. Tegretrol is going to make you sleepy, as it is used as an anti-epileptic regimen (carbamazepine). You should ask your neurologist about Gabapentin--it is very promising for multiple sclerosis (also an anti-epileptic drugs w/ less side effects). Some of the possible spasmolytic drugs that you might want to look into are: Baclofen, Tizanidine, Benzodiazepine, Gabapentin, and Dantrolene. Hope you get better!
It lasted about a week. The doc mumbled something about spasticity of the diaphragm (maybe he didn't actually mumble, but I'd not slept so was only half-conscious). Then he gave me some heavy sedatives. When I awoke, the hiccups had gone. Had it a bit since then, but will avoid the zombie pills as much as pos.
I saw a guy on TV once who had chronic hiccups and thought that would be terrible. I can imagine it wouldn't be funny for very long! How long did yours last? Apparently it is in the same 'family' of spasm as the myoclonic spasm I have in my shoulder (still after 7 months). Nice to meet a fellow numb-nose - LOL Kerri
I cannot believe that your nose is numb! We have to try them all, don't we??!!!
I hope you had a nice vacation and that your nose is back to feeling "normal"! and that your spams are all gone! I have them too, but they are not too bad for now!
Hi Angela, yeah my nose was a funny one. Rather be numb there than in some other places!! Spasm still the same and I am starting to get used to it! Do you take any medication for yours? Ciao Kerrixo
Is your nose any better? I hope so...but you are right: it's better to have the nose numb instead of some other part of the body! I don't take medications for the spasms because I can deal with them for now. If they get worse, I might have to check with my doctor and see what he says about it. I hope you had a nice vacation! Hugs, Angela
Hi Angela, my nose feels like there is a slightly burning sensation but it is much better thanks. I am starting to think also that the medication is worse than the spasm! So I see my Neuro again next month and will come off it I have had no improvement by then I think. Kerri xo
hello, I watched your video and they are informative. I'm sorry for the things your going through. I haven't experienced the nose numbness. But I do experience my face heating up like I have a fever or something. It gets very hot for a few seconds then go away. Anyway have a nice holiday. My kids are off also. I have to find something to do with them to keep them busy. Take care. Sabrina
Thanks for your comments Sabrina. Yes keeping kids busy is the challenge. My daughter has been convinced today that she has nothing to do and it is my job to entertain her! Ah one more days of holidays and then back to school, lol. Keep well, Kerri xo
hey babe ur lookin good ! to expalin ur nose thingy SOMEBODY FARTED !!!!! der how obvious? and about how the drug makes u fell tired, it's also one of the joys of MS. really it should not last toooo long things like that pass over within a couple of weeks try not to stress out about it , does not help, but u should already
You crazy man - members of my family have been farting for years and it has never caused my nose to go numb before!! hahaha - maybe I should request they restrain themselves and see whether there is any improvement. Had a great Easter hol - thanks :-) Kerri
Tegretol caused me the scariest side effect I ever had on a medication, that being pitch perception (music) being changed within 2 days of beginning the prescription. Which I stopped quickly!
I've had the numbness, not as severe as you explain it though, in various locations. Like you, the face... but also in arms/legs.
If there weren't so many others who had similar experiences I would think I was imagining things!!! lol. So strange - and stranger still that a numb nose is almost becoming normal. Odd side effect with the Tegretol - I haven't noticed that one... but I am no muso! Kerrixo
Hey Kerri :) My neurologist told me that I'd only notice such a side effect if I was musically trained.. which I was as a child. So that could be it, but obviously I was pre-disposed to having the side effect to begin with.
I haven't had my nose go numb but sometimes the whole right side of my face and inside of my mouth goes numb........ but it doesn't stay that way it kinda feels like when your foot falls asleep but on my face. LOL but um the doctors don't know whats causing it yet. My doctor is transfering me to a neurologist about it so hopefully we will get it sorted out. I really like your videos they are really informative and helpful, I don't know if I have ms but my doctor thinks it could be.
Wow - I hope your Doctors can figure out what is going on really quick. The not knowing, for me, was worse than the diagnosis. Once you know you can deal with it! Thanks for your comment.
yea that's whats bothering me the most just not understanding whats going on and why, but I have been watching your videos and a couple other peoples on here and it has helped me a lot. Thank you for the reply :)

I don't take tegretol, caramaprezine doesn't do much for me. Get a good acupuncturist for all this.

Never my nose. But I have had numbness in specific areas before.
The only time my nose was ever numb was when I had a route canal on one of my front teeth and the novacaine made my nose go numb for 3 hours.
Weird feeling, ain't it?
I am hoping this flare up doesn't last too long. Keep staying tough.
You are in my prayers.
