At the time they were regarded as the poor mans Duran Duran, but you kno wwhat they wrote some serious music and many people don't realise just how good they were...
my girlfriend was lisa when this track was released,i thought we would be together forever we loved one another so much it still hurts me now,i gave you all of my heart LISA,i still think we would of been great together and i do still LOVE you xxxx great song quality 80s music
Wow...I would stay up tp watch NightTracks on Friday evenings to see ABC, Spandau Ballet,Culture Club to name a few to witness the Romantic Renaissance that was the early 80's in Music
What a G R E A T 80's song. Really reminds me of highschool and that first crush. Everything was soooo important when it came to love back then. Your first highschool crush on a girl was just everything and then you heard a song like this and confirmed that your first crush was EVERYTHING. Check out DONT WALK PAST by Blue Peter, also a great 80's song.
One of the last great songs played on the radio where you would stop what you were doing and go--holy shit, what is that! Majestic song--about love no less.
I was a hardcore rocker who went nuts for newwave. Got this on vinyl & really loved it. Then saw the boys in an interview talking about using an actual string section & 15 piece orchestra for the album. Mad props & respect for going to the trouble! This album has held up, still every bit as good as it was then, if not better! Romantic, classy, well arranged, original, everything that the crap the radio & mtv being forced on us ISN'T! Lady Gagme et al need to check this stuff out, or better-quit!
I've replayed this 16,000 of the 16500 times this thing has been replayed... I friggin LOVE this song and haven't been able to stop replaying this... it is PERFECTION.... truly perfect in soooo many ways... wish I could find an 80s live version
I read somewhere that in the 80"s Producers of James Bond had asked ABC to write a Title song for Bond, but sadly they were too busy and declined the offer! later i had read they regretted that it went to Duran Duran, later AH HA did a Bond Title again ABC was shut out maybe snub
My great friends of the 80's we had it all!! the awesome music, the TV shows Miami vice, Cosby, and the clothes lol we had the best Presz Reagan kickin ass as he did the wall came down, the Commies ran from Rambo! lol and Rocky beat the crap outta Drago the Russian who killed Apollo! and of course ..... Ferris Bueller....Bueller....and Red Dawn!! Wolverines!! and Dirty Dancin, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High! yes my friends we had it all!!! Billy Idols still rocks! and us, you my 80's friends
@OEKCVB That's what saddens me about today's kids, today's entertainment is crap, so what will their memories of their younger years when they're adults be of, freaking Souljah Boy and The Wedding Crashers? God that would suck.
@ScubaSteveM45 brother you got that right! nailed it even our worst 80"s movies are better then the crap of today, Lady Ga Ga oh plz we had the Orig Boy George! and Dead or Alive (You spin me round) we all on Friday nights watched Miami Vice, wear the white pants, blue shirt dark glasses, we rocked to Clash, Lita ford, Ratt, a young OZZY lol and some real heavy metal " JOURNEY" LOL gotta love billy Idol still shakin things up! Top Gun, Ferris, War Games, Weird Science! brother we had it all =)
I'm sure many of today's pop "stars" would give their right arm for Martin Fry's vocal range, great voice, great song, brings back great memories of youth club discos, Wednesdays in the village hall!
I was 19 when this came out and was planning a career change. I was filled with excitement and felt my world was at my feet...this song's music, ,,, it just echoed my feelings at the time - it's one of those songs that would be called a 'drive' song,, meaning, it's what you should have playing when your driving.
I remember being about 14, in love with about three girls at school and almost burning up listening to this song......never told anyone I liked it of course, love songs ? 14 years old! not me mate,We are the mods, tough nut.....cough...,...
