Also when a demostration is intended to viewed as a teaching session even though the essential paraphernalia are not available at hand a mention must be made that those are the standard of care like use of a meconium aspirator, use of Appropriate size ETT and their availability, presence of laryngoscope and the blades, use of a manometer attached to the AMBU bag and use of an APGAR timer.
I commend the attempt in making the video and hope these suggestion are considered constuctively,Cheers
thanks for your valuable suggestions, these videos are made for use in basic newborn care & resuscitation program being run by government of india as 'navjaat shishu suraksha karyakram'(NSSK).
The training for NSSK is a two day training program which is basically meant for training of birth attendent working in periphery. This programm would be ultimately taught to around 2.5 lakh health workers.
The training of trainers for this huge task has already been completed by training of around 2000 trainers and the provider level courses are going on all over india.
In training we evaluate the skills and knowledge of the candidates before and after the course.regarding your suggestions they are very well placed and we have already incorporated them in our advanced newborn care & resuscitation program.
when the scenario talks about meconium present in a non vigorous baby apart from removing the wet towel the priority would should lie in tracheal suctioning only and this was not demonstrated and hence the following resuscitation wouldn't be considered appropriate as per NRP guidelines especially use of Bag mask ventilation.
