Can we have some easier level packs please? I mean seriously the first few levels are fun but then the difficulty jumps massively and it takes about 4 billion attempts to get on to the next one, makes me quit the game and play Left4 dead instead.
Hey xOut...i recently played the demo version of your gravitron2 game and i really liked it a lot....as i am a programmer myself i wonder how you achieved the "shininess" effect on the vector graphics?...the effect that makes them look like a reflection through a glass pane....best regards....andy
Each "Beam" is made up of 3 quads (or 6 triangles). You have the length of the "beam" and its "end caps". These quads are textured with an image containing the falloff. A particle image will suffice.
If you want, I could email you an image showing how this is done.
@X0ut Hey, thanks for your quick answer :) I think the result looks really nice. Have you already thought about porting your game to other plattforms like iPhone / iPad or DSiWare?
This really brings me back to the old Lunar Lander days and I must have spent a small fortune on it 25 cents a pop in the arcade I worked at for a year. The arcade game was brutally difficult and this is on par with the original with some extra twists. I love the glows, effects and colors in this...I just wish I could mute the music during game play (even though it's great!). Remarkable job all around and I'm off to buy it at GamersGate! :)
This game is absolutely amazing. Thank you for creating it. And please, whoever made the soundtrack, shake their hand for me. The escape orbit theme is one of the best retro style songs I've heard.
I'm a coder too and i'm trying to start an indie businness this year...
I think you should try to do a revamped version for Xbox, Pixeljunk Shooter is a gravity game too and it's going to be a blast for sure on PSN, i think Gravitron could appeal a lot of people that sadly doesn't know much about PC gaming...
Most people find it easier to change the shield key to shift, that makes it some what easier to control the ship with thrust on the right mouse button.
It looks really pretty and fun, but it's just frustrating to play because of the controls. It's so hard to hit anything while aiming, could you maybe add a crosshairs or something when using the mouse?
This is fantastic!!!. Nice work. Great particle effects too.
I wonder, how did you get that "vectrex" look? What libraries you used? (and, what language you programmed it in?)

Great game. I feel kind of guilty now, because I only paid 75 pence for it on Steam!

Cave fliers are seriously an underappreciated genre of games and you've done a great contribution to a good cause. Well done!

i found aiming terribly hard. How come you aim so well in the video?
I even hooked up my gamecube controller, which helped, but not much.

Mouse control works best in this game.
It gives better accuracy.

@X0ut I didn't know about any shield before this moment and played 15 levels without it! :D

I found it a lot easier to play with the keyboard. Overall the demo was awesome and I'm definitely going to buy this.
