If you do some fact checking this was a melt down in the sub-prime market which was created by the Community Revitalization Act (CRA) 1977. Which madated a certain percentage of loans be made in a local community, which means give them loans whether they are credit worthy are not. If it would've been left up to the free market, those loans never would've been made.
