who the FUCK is kanye??? this is the original released when that kanye pissed in bed, this is art not this new bullshit so called rap and r'n'b daaaamn!
This was the sample used in jay z's album Blueprint 3. I didn't like it. "What we talkin bout" was the best track on the album because it features Luke Steele.
Kanye has no skill, he just changed couple elements from original - he still ripped it off. His remake lacks originality and skill, something that goes with most of new music. Instead of coming up with his own original idea, or some new melody, he instead went into a studio and used this track to make his new rap song. CHEAP! You see, back in the day music producers actually made original music FROM SCRATCH. People used to buy CDs and records, talk about music and research it. Not anymore!
@enacra101 yes he did when the beat broke down after jay verse it would hit the chorus like "he hum he hum hum" bow then the sample hit u in the face again.Sometimes when i sample i find myself leaving the sample almost the same the way i found it.
This is NOT a "copy and paste" job as described by "JayRocFly" below. Listen to "What We Talkin' About" properly. Kanye (and No I.D, who co-produced the song) added a deeper (and different) bassline, they layered the drums some more and also (most importantly) added a guitar riff which sits at the end of each loop and which also leads into the hook. Also, the hook itself isn't sampled from anywhere, it's all played from scratch. But yeah, this is a great song and I respect Kanye for sampling it.
i wouldent say kanye has good music history seeing as how this came out b4 he was born, he just hears potential in ceartain songs, because this wasnt even a popular song when it came out he probably just stubled upon it and even better was wat he did with it
exactly what i was searchin

@adam2497 AHEM taking anything is sampling, so even if he ONLY took the drums off this one which he clearly hasn't, it is still sampling, idiot

this is why hip hop matters .we take old songs that wer not given their proper respect in their times and make it hot to a new generation.
I love this beat.

I'm sure Kanye goes and shops for hundreds of records and listens to them and picks out which ones have potential and then chops and mixes it.
