wooden west of ireland sell out... no charm, nothing warm about this wet blanket... does not seem to realize the irish people were going to do anything to get ff out! and they did!!! this trained EU, IMF mute has nothing to say... his boss enda kenny or commonly know as THE MOST FRIGHTENED SHEEP IN IRELAND is just back from doing battle with the EU!!! or getting his head slapped by them for been a good little sell out... stop the world ...etc...etc...
If he wants to restore confidence in the banks, then why does he propose full nationalisation as the remedy for that situation? Surely that'd scare away any potential investor for years.
Well boreas74 Irish is our own unique language, we are keeping it that is that, we have lost everything else
Gilmore is a brilliant irish speaker as well as being a very intelligent down to earth man, he was born and reared in the gealtacht area of galway, when things were not that great, had to learn about life the hard way
Yeah I'd agree with you to a point but I think the current education system where Irish is forced on the pupil has to change, its creating a generation of students who leave school with a hatred for the language. I would have thought that removing its compulsory status would calm some of the animosity surrounding the subject along with some changes to the Irish curriculum and more funding to Gaelscoileanna. What would you, a seemingly proud gaelgóir (am I right?), think of those kind of ideas?

There was a general lack of positive and progressive messages.
Labour has the chance to lead but seems content to follow. People will respond to a bold progressive agenda if you give them the opportunity. Labour need to articulate a substantive, positive, progressive vision. I don't see that here.

Specific points -
Labour needs to talk about ending the entitlement culture, social spending needs to be targeted to produce results. If people choose to have children they can't afford why should we expect others to pay for their choices?
If we're going to pay for specialist schools shouldn't we look at Science & Technology schools, or schools that specialise in Languages rather than just Irish language schools.
Why isn't Labour taking about a real secular education system free of religion?

Bruton has been very impressive, but why ae Labour not prepared to work with other parties of the left. If the left does not build a rela alternative we will just end up with labour in with FF or FG. This will just take us back to the same place as before.
