And since Klaus comes from a different father, Mikael has a natural hate for him, so he took it out on Klaus, instead of the both of them. Elijah and Klaus were both at fault, for mucking about when they should be fighting for survival. But Mikael blamed it all on Klaus since he dislikes him.

Klaus in my opinion is exactly like Damon in a way (except Damon is redeeming himself because Elena reached out & offered him the compassion he needed)...both of these guys have been the underdog in the family, not as appreciated as the others, thought of as the bad child, etc. It's the same with Elijah & Stefan imo. Stefan was always assumed the good/perfect bro, Elijah too it seems. I wouldn't even be surprised if we got flashbacks of Damon being neglected when he was human. :'(

@dose143 i don't think its the make up, its the blue filter they used to give it a cold effect. (thats why the characters may look pale). they used a blue filter in twilight aswell but thats not really much to base a similarity to twilght on
