I am so happy to see this. These guys were so great together! If I knew this was happening, I would have come from NY to see it! Love them all, George's shirt,"Old Dudes Rock" ! So true & totally wonderful!
POCO helped to get me through my rough times as an older teen. The lyrics, the energy, and the feelings just rocked my soul, Hope it influences you kids of today
Correction! Timothy B. Schmidt IS NOT a founding member. Randy Meisner, who was also a founding member of the Eagles, was the original bass player for Poco!
Thanks for posting this!!! I was a big Poco fan back in the day. I just saw Jim Messina a few months ago at the Brxiton in Redondo Beach. Good to see Jim, Tim & Richie back with Poco again!!!
It just feels so right to have Richie on stage with Poco again. All this and Tim, George and Jim too. God I wish I had been there. There's got to be a DVD release of this concert.
@StevieReidEFC yeah. i wonder if the EAGLES would continue on if timothy left and JOE WALSH too to reform the JAMES GANG. what's left with the eagles? oh wait then bernie and randy would rejoin. so it's like 1972 all over again.
@PEDROCLASSIC Henly and Frey could continue as a duo called - The EGO'S!. Is iot just me or did the Eagles get shit after 'Desperado/On the Border' ? - the only memorable songs were 'I Cant Tell You Why' and 'In the City' off 'The Long Run'
GOD BLESS TIMOTHY B SCHMIT!!!!!!!! Tim took the time to make George feel that he was a part of the band too. I really felt the friendship and love there between them. POCO is happiness!!!!! I LOVE TIMOTHY......................
Timmy is a GREAT guy....he gets it!...sure he's with the Eagles but he knows where his roots are...Rusty can play and when he did a little solo thing at Penn's Peak and the guy behind me said "that was cool Rusty" he responded "yeah that was fun"...I mean...it was fun for us Poco fans...and for him..
Oh, no... they were opening for Loggins & Messina, so it started with the current "core" band (Rusty, Paul, Jack and... Todd?), then Richie joined for half the set, followed by George for two songs and finally Jim for the finale with all the guys. Sublime.
Saw them at Jones Beach last Sunday (minus Timothy) and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face for days. Only wish Randy Meisner was involved, too, but this is close enough to perfect as it gets.
know how you feel irazenchu..but Ritchie ain't playing...nor Tim or Randy or Jim...but you probably saw Paul and Randy and that was pretty good for me a couple of weeks ago...
after watching this several times...I hear Timmy saying "do you feel alright?"...then "c'mon.. you can do this"....is there a better person in the world than TBS?.....even in the "Good Feeling to Know" video Ritchie kinda throws him over to Tim...who obviously "loves him"....funny thing is George pulls Ritchie over at the end to sing "good feeling to know...that somebody loves you".....
Poco launched so many great musicians. I think Richie bailed for his own project which dealt a real blow to the other members and Messina went on to produce the band. Rusty Young on slide guitar kind of defined the sound. Great group. I'd pay to see these boys on tour.
George looks great! and to be that in tune vocally after being out of commission after a stroke??? that's AWESOME! My dad worked with Grantham back when Grantham was with Ricky Skaggs and George was one of the drummers who (after me watching him) made me pick up a pair of sticks.
I agree George sounds good. His voice is more mature but still has that fresh, innocent quality. His singing spawned a whole slew of singing drummers. I've got a magazine article about this subject.
How about Barry Gibb or Smokey Robinson? They could both get up there. A group called Steps covered the Beegees song Tragedy. You can listen to both versions on youtube, the ladies couldn't sing as high as Barry and had to drop it a register.
Barry sang a falsetto...what George sings above Timmy is NOT falsetto...and there is no way Smokey could sing above Timmy...Smokey had a high voice but it's not the same style of music...don't get me wrong I love Smokey's singing...
You want to hear a man with range? Pull up John Gary "Another Go Around" on youtube. Gary was a Baritone who sang in Tenor as often as Baritone. He had a 5 Octave range and could sing In Soto in Full Soprano all the way down to the upper Bass range with no loss of timbre, tone or clarity. No Falsetto! That's his natural voice! He had a TV show on CBS in the mid 60's. His big hit was "Softly As I Leave You". Elivis was a huge John Gary fan. John died several years back.
@druther530 What amazes me abount George (apart from his incredible high regisiter harmony) is when you watch him live - his drumming is intense - he's not just keeping the beat here, but still he never misses a vocal back-up. Talk about multi-tasking, the man is amazing - the backbone of the group.
OH MY MY MY! DREAM COME TRUE! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THESE GUYS BACK TOGETHER JUST TO PERFORM JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS. it's nice to see timothy back with POCO. .....
First time I watched this, I couldn't help but get a tear...wow...it's SO great to see George on stage...it's so true, these guys were meant to be together...and should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
All of them just belong together. What great bunch of musicians. They fit together like a glove and they are the nicest down to earth stars ever. We don't need no super group. I like these guys just like this!
BTW...George's stroke was in the summer of '04, on stage playing drums in a Poco concert; and ended his career; he is their original drummer; starting on the debut album Pickin' Up the Pieces back in 1969. This appearance is simply amazing.
Oh, what a joy to see George Grantham back on his feet.
He's my favourite drummer and a really nice person.
Long live Poco, even if Rusty fights with everyone else.

@halbie71 why was this flagged as spam? It was a perfectly reasonable observation.

StevieReidEFC Yup for sure they should call themselves the EGO's instead of the Eagles. You called that one right!!!

A guy here in town owns Poco's touring bus from the 70's....nice close living...but not luxury. Maybe TBS yearned for flying with the other band.

Let's not go negative. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band got a fair amount of airplay out HOPC. How about "Angry Eyes"? There's a more serious piece.
