We don't have five independent sources for the empty tomb and post-resurrection appearances. We have no explicit mention of an empty tomb in the earliest accounts (Paul). In fact, Paul describes Jesus' resurrection body as something more spiritual than corporal. I invite you to check out 1 Cor (starting at 15:35) for a lengthy description of what I'm talking about.

Matthew, Luke, and John all appear to borrow elements from the the earlier and less embellished Gospel of Mark, upon which they add more details as later writings. Actually, this is not enough time to make things up. You see, Paul not mentioning Joseph of Arimathea doesn't prove much of anything. There were more players than that. They are self evident. Some things may be need to be debated, but that is why we live in an ever changing society.
So it's not logical to say "do unto others as you would have them do onto you?" And what about Proverbs? No logic there either? I doubt your claim very much. We don't have five independent sources for the empty tomb and post-resurrection appearances. We have no explicit mention of an empty tomb in the earliest accounts (Paul). In fact, Paul describes Jesus' resurrection body as something more spiritual than corporal. I invite you to check out 1 Cor (starting at 15:35) for a lengthy description of what I'm talking about.

Matthew, Luke, and John all appear to borrow elements from the the earlier and less embellished Gospel of Mark, upon which they add more details as later writings. These are not separate, independent sources. They are all building upon (with some added legendary elements) from Mark's earlier and simpler narrative.

Their objectivity in reporting the oral traditions that had been handed down for decades are at least somewhat suspect. Of course the core elements are in all the synoptics; Matthew contains nearly every bit of Mark, for example. Luke contains about 50 percent of Mark as well. That doesn't count as separate, independent accounts.

They do not explicitly mention the empty tomb. This comes along later with Mark, which wasn't written until about 65-70 CE. This is decades after Jesus' death - plenty of time for legendary development. Matthew and Luke and John come along even later. They add even more legendary details to Mark's simpler story.

you can see the accounts becoming more fantastic between the Gospel of Mark (70 CE), Matthew and Luke (80 CE), and John (90 CE). Just compare those Gospels. You can see the legend growing in those decades.

Morality ought to be based upon equilibrium, with those around us, with the planet we live upon, and within ourselves. Why does an adult need a dusty old book to guide them in the ways of morality?
