Sounds like a lot of those cars have flat spots on the wheels. What about the word "U-boat"....where does that come into play here?

@JetMechMA GE's Universal series of locomotive were given the nickname "U-Boats" by railfans.

The cars look like ACF Coalveyor Coal Gondolas. Atlas makes scale models of the ACF Coalveyor.

Just to point this out all four of those GE BN locomotives are C30-7s while the ATSF unit is however a U36C, but I think it has since then been rebuilt and was reclassified as SF30C.

None of those units were "U-boats"

Every one of those in the consist,the BN, the ATSF, the ATSF kodachrome are all C30-7's

actually some of the u boats live on with the Lake superior and ishpeming railroad in the northern michigan..still in bn green but there on last legs.
