Magnificent. I picture my little grandchildren early Christmas morning. Fire crackling in the hearth, snowflakes lightly falling on the deck, and their tiny noses and rosey cheeks pressed against the picture window, watching the evergreen trees sparkle. Chris Botti paints a picture with his trumpet. Bravissimo!!!!

Can any oune name the mics and miking techniques Chris used. It kinda looks like an offset XY... but i would like to know the purpose.

they would never use two different mics for a stereo setup. at least not for an XY. Maybe for an MS. moreover here the mics are adjusted in the same direction. i'm quiet shure the they took two mics to decied for the best sound later.

The green mic is an AKG C12 and the gray i guess an Neuman U87.

they aren't actually playing the song. This is a video they took and played the pre-recorded song over it for the TV program. Watch Botti and Ma playing, while the beginning of Botti's phrases start on time in the video his fingerings are completely off. As are Ma's fingering changes. Still an amazing song though!
