  • My God, I just bought mine yesterday and it started doing this today and it freaked me the hell out! But glad that the firmware is going to solve the problem, going to download it when my PRS-T1 is fully charged.....

  • I bought it yesterday and I was reading for 4 hours, then it started to works bad. It was blocked, I couldn't use the tactil sensor, only buttons worked. I had to "standby" the reader, then turn on and it worked well again.

  • <- lucky one, never got major bugs with mine t1 :D.

  • I have still yet to experience this problem after a couple of months of use.

  • @amex02 Polls show a rate of 60% with and 40% without the problem (see link in the video description, other such polls concur). So congratulations! Also some users always use the hardware buttons, that will avoid the problem too.

  • @pe1dnn Hey, I'm currently very keen on purchasing this reader. My only reservation is in relation to this problem. If I may ask, does this problem persist even after the firmware update to version 1.0.03.11140 which claims to 'improve touch panel functionality' ?

    -Kindly

  • @chazzyou I haven't heard any report of the bug anymore after using this firmware.

  • I had the same problem. It was OK after updating the firmware to latest version.

  • Same problem with a 3 week old unit I bought for my wife for a birthday present -- tried to return it yesterday and they're out of stock. If the replacement one does the same then we'll just get a refund and try another brand.

  • Hence why rooting and using reader apps is better!

  • What cover are you using? I see it has a way of attaching the stylus. :)

  • @combat246 Its the Gecko cover. I like it much better than the expensive plastic/cardboard Sony cover

  • @pe1dnn At 0:32 i hear laughing in the background. I think that is me :)

  • @Eltholoxa That's possible, but it is very faint. You sure have a good hearing!

  • Sony are now encouraging people to tell them more about this issue so that their engineers can replicate and solve it. If you have the same issue, get in touch with Sony. See the Sony forum on MobileRead for more info.

  • @burntorangeheresy I'll try this the next time it happens, saves using the paperclip. Another user reported to switch off, switch on, switch off, switch on rapidly to recover.

  • @pe1dnn same problem here - the "standby, turn on, check if touch is working... repeat until you get a response" worked for me - no need for a paperclip! :-)

  • @pe1dnn can't switch off, because to switch off you have to confirm on the touchscreen and the touchscreen doesn't work!

  • @ajft Not off, just switch a few times between standby and running. Seems to work! Otherwise reset. The problem seems to stay away longer after a factory reset (not tested myself; warning: erases everything!). Can't post links here to the procedure, use Google search.

  • I have experienced this problem many times. Hope Sony fixes it soon.

  • Had this happened to me twice. Just hit the reset buton.

  • I have the same model and I have not experienced this, but it's good to know.

  • His flipping is perfect. The PRS-T1 has a serious problem. Obviously SONY can't fix it within a reasonable time.

  • @wimenlindy Well, it's what Apple would say. ;)

  • You're flipping it wrong....

  • Just tweet and facebook this video alot.. so the whole world knows that there is a problem and Sony needs to fix it!

  • And I think the video that Sony will say: we have never seen it before.. and put all reviewers in shame... we have never tested it good...
