He is probably one of the most inspirational Irish people I have viewed on here. We have a lot but he is inspirational on a different level (crosses the boundaries of education,acceptance of self and an acceptance of his limitations). A writer who couldn't read nor write (c/f 6.10-6.50), in his own words yet he inspired so many with his lyrics. I wish i was like him. He is truly an inspirational individual.

i sat weeping the night christie died and i swore i see him remembered properly in his home town of tralee, thank god only today the we the memorial commitee have agreed the plan for a christie hennessy memorial in the square in tralee.

I left Ireland in 1984 and managed to miss out on this wonderful man till the day he died and what a miss. There have been few if any as good as him from the island of of my youth to which its doubtful I will return as once Im free theres no recapturing me, well sung and lived and if nothing else comes from this sad and needless death it will be to highlight asbestosis and it greed related coverup.

ive lived in ireland all my life (46+ yrs) and i only discovered christy 1 yr ago. what was i doing for the previous 45. i have been searching for his cds since then. it has been hard to get his material and now to discover he has passed away so young i will never get to see him live. he is indeed without question one of irelands greatest unsung heros. i will search until i have all of his recorded material only then will i be happy.may you christy rip but never forgotten.

I was one of lucky ones, i met Christy many times, in fact i played on the same bill as him in Tralee, Im a Tralee man myself and i interviewed him on radio just last October and he was kind and generous and stayed on the line for an hour.His music was very special, gentle and unique.May he rest in peace

Another legacy in Irish music. The man couldn't read or write from what I understand but yet the man has a better command of the english language than those of us that can. His lyrics are the most profound, I think the song with his daughter Amber was the one that touched me most "If you were to fall" Lord have Mercy on him and be with his family in their hour of need cause Christie is teaching the Angels now new ways to sing and compose.A true asset to the Irish people.
