The reason why cannabis is so deep in hip hop is because of the place hip hop came originally. The discriminated black ghetto blocks and cannabis was a way of momentarily forgetting all the hardships.
The problem now though is that those days are long gone and hip hop is commercial yet the idea that its connected to street violence and drugs is still present.
What im trying to say is that eventhough Hip Hop doesnt have to be drug and violence related now, but it was originally and thus true hip hop will always be about hardships and problems not money and girls. IMO people should remember how hip hop originated and respect that for some cannabis was a substitute for alcohol in order to ease the pain.
