  • incredible wievs,emotions...i want meet this island...like Polinesia.....like adventures....read more about Tahiti......Pitcairn..Rapanui....

  • 48 people now live and there are every year less and less :(

  • @LukaszTM2008 so these 3 are:doctor, policeman and anybody:)?..interesting how womans in Pitcairn and how mans? What about bad history then mans was raped girl or something that?

  • @LukaszTM2008 Well if they would allow a little more immigration that may not be the case. They are insanely too picky, probably because of they feel the heritage is going to get messed up. I just wanted to move their and have a small corner and go native...

  • I dont know. 48 people living on an isolated island out in the middle of the Pacific seems strange. I'm sure most of these people have a few screws loose. the sexual assault cases don't surprise me in the least. I'm sure there is much stranger activities afoot on that island. Only the one above knows what these people are up to when the tourists are not around. I wouldn't step foot on that island

  • wow an incident like a fire could easily wipe out this country's entire population. could someone tell me about the demographics? i don't want to be insulting but with a population of 48 it seems to me everyone's inbred

  • It's funny you mention it, because There was a sexual assault trial recently concerning people of related families on the island. I think it wasn in 2008.

  • The population of the country is like

    50 right?

  • That's right.

    I wonder why.

  • Isolation. The beckoning of other shores. More than just the sexual abuse cases.

  • It is now.

  • I grew up on Pitcairn and never once heard of a single case of pedophilia or rape (and this was supposed to be the era that spawned the accusations). Someday, the world will learn the truth behind the scandal, created by the Brits for God-knows-why. The legal profession will stand on its head when it discovers the genesis of the charges and how the investigations and trials were conducted. On this travesty, the Brits should bury their heads in shame.

Inbred? You should hope to be this healthy.

  • I was on Pitcairn during this time too, and I do recall cases. It has been WAY overblown, but like every society, there is some underlying shame somewhere.

  • with a population 50 55 cases of sexual assualt is a big deal.

  • 55 cases stretched over a good few decades. When I lived on the Island, there were about 70 inhabitants. Not much earlier than that there were 200.

  • the mayor was arrested. that could have been grounds for massive news coverage anyway.

  • The mayor of Pitcairn tends to be a more figurehead title.

  • regardless its horrifying anyway you look at it.

  • The world is horrifying. If you look with the purpose of finding the horror, its all you see. If you look to see the beauty, then you will also find beauty.

  • You are so lucky to have lived in such a place...

Why is the population diminishing so quickly anyway?

  • Sadly, the dream of unspoiled paradise dies hard. There is a history of systematic pedophilia with the young girls even under 13.

  • Left on board - a paradise! I'm Friend Pitcairn. Long live glorious people of the island.

  • If you are thinking of visiting this Island I reckomend you watch the film deliverance. The island is entirley imbred and paedophilia is rife. If you are visit the island and wish to stay for a while youll know what I mean, sleep with one eye open.

  • Good to move there

  • you wouldn't let the children out of your sight. say no more.

  • You are an ignoramus who knows nothing about Pitcairn, other than the smut fiction peddled by pseudo journalists. Shame on all of you for your ignorant remarks.

I would not hesitate a nano-second if I had the opportunity to take my grandchildren there - both boys and girls.

  • I think its you who is been ignorant the sexual assault cases was proven and not made up by the UK goverment this shows me and probally many more people reading this the majority of the Pitcairn people are brainwashed in their own twisted beliefs. Why would you want to take children their after all the controversy .STRANGE.

  • No, sir, not strange at all. Unlike you, I know what I'm talking about, being born and raised there and a contemporary of the accused and accusers. Nothing was proven by the UK government; and, if you think they can't fabricate charges and make them stick, you've got another think coming.

  • "Nothing was proven" hmmm so your saying their was proof they just didnt find it.

  • @upahumma

Do you still live there? Do you think that the island community will survive? If the charges were fabricated, then what is up with the accusers?

  • yea theyd get a nice cock up their ass I'm sure.

You're just another mental islander, trying to make out that everyone in the world is stupid and misguided except for the 40 bastards that live on this abuse ridden shithole.

  • don't be holier than thou

i admit they've done some wrong, but 'He who is without sin cast the 1st stone"

im one of the fortunate ones to have known the pitcairners in person, they r lovely people

  • how much ppl live there?

    and,

how do u know they molest and rape women?

  • This is the least populated political entity on Earth. It has an eerie but strangely beautiful feel to it, similar to Tristan da Cunha.

  • The British took many of the male islanders to court...in N.Z. I think.

The islanders had their way it seemed through the years.

Some say rape, some say not. A half dozen spent some time in jail...on the island they built a jail.

  • Love the pitcairnese at the end there.

  • I can't believe less than 50 people live there.

  • For a very interesting information about Beautiful Pitcairn check pitcairn islands study center, includes a lot of pics

    Greetings from Mexico, amigos

  • i'm 99% sure that i was working onboard the ship when this video was made

  • If only Bligh had come within the 1st 5 years to the island...

  • Have you guys ever though of heaving like a little Bolshevik Revolution and become an independent Communist state ?

you can make a little communist party ...

    and workers union ...

and you can change the flag to a Red one ... with a little Hammer and Sickle may be ..

  • as good as, lol. Pitcairn's sole religious-affiliation is Seventh-Day Adventism

  • Freedom for Pitcairn Isles!!!!!, independence!!!

  • yes please

  • Why? So that the old tradition of gang-rapes carried out by some men of Pitcairn (like Steve Christian, the ex-mayor, now in prison) on little girls can go on without meddling of prudish UK and NZ?

  • There is a lot about that I'm sure you are unaware of.

  • I wonder if school still gets cancelled when a boat comes in

  • Fletcher Christian died..and after a brief skirmish, John Adams became the island leader.

I read the "Bounty Trilogy" as a teenager..

It is one of the most remote islands in the world..and Bligh managed to return to England.

  • There's no proof Christian died. Some think he made his way back to Britian and died there.

  • Except his grave is on the island, and it would have been harder for him to leave the island

  • You're wrong. Christian's grave is not on the island. John Adams' grave is.

  • Well- there are lots of graves ont he island lol. I swear I saw it- but then I was only little at the time. Maybe it was a memorial.

  • Christian is most likely buried on the island, or so a Pitcairn expert told me about a year ago. He studies about Pitcairn history at the College of the Pacific.

  • I enjoyed the video too!

The islands are so remote and the story of the islands development and the people is an incredible story. I believe the original founder was Fletcher Christian from his days on the Bounty after the Mutiny against Captain Bligh.

I too never realized cruise ships travel by the Pitcairn islands.

The islanders must enjoy visits from crew and visitors on the travelling ships.

  • Great video..I love Pitcairn.thanks for posting!

  • Hi Thanks for you comment I was an officer on baord working at the time. The islanders filmed it and sent it to the ship. It's a nice memory of my time at sea. Glad you enjoyed it too.

  • Hey Captain, I didn;t know the cruise ships went by Pitcairn.
