Amazing song,i was a huge fan of her as a boy and Nirvana was a very fine rockgroupwith an irish/greece songwriterteam,i have never heard such beautyful songs again !!!
Andreas Dorau sampled part of this for "Allein im Park", a great little tune from the nineties with some haunting story to it. Thanks so much for putting this up :)
WONDERFUL, MARVELLOUS FRANCOISE! I discovered this song, and believe-me I started to love-it, as ever, FHardy puts the sun through the windows. A fan from Argentina salutes-you all, friends!!!
The original by Nirvana (U.K) is one one of my all time favourite records, and I didn't think anyone could do a better version. This isn't better but fantastically different. Love it!! Thanks for the upload
This things all things devours. Such a crime that beauty like this fades and then eventually falls to the ground like aleaf from a tree. Such a tradgedy is time
In English In French In any Language...Françoise keeps the same rythm : Softness of voice, Slow Fluidity of Words, Tenderness of instrumental arrangement.....She belongs to all cultures and she passes Happy days and Wonderful nights in all the people's hearts...It's sure : In her Songs, all the Differences disappear and all the people speak one Language : Françoise's Language : Human Love and Common Will...............May God bless Françoise and may God bless me !!!!
I've been in love with her form and face and her French femininity since the sixties. Combine these with her beautiful voice and the intense romantic themes of her songs and you have extasy.
i'm simply happy when i find people who like songs as lovely as this. when i listen it i can remember me and my family travelling through Italy with our fiat 1100, with its scratching radio tuned on this wonderful song.
anyway she sings it, this music is simply beautiful.
i dont see the masturbation connection at all tobias rex...please explain .....i know the original I always i thought it was about marianne faithful in a convent school!!!
Although this and the other two versions by Francoise are nice, I don't think they have the same poignancy of the original. That version is just so haunting. She is, however, much better looking than anyone in Nirvana.
There are several albums entirely in English. I have them. There are some very rare songs too, which are hard to find as the English version was release only on 45rpm and never on a CD. Message Personnel was one of those
and don't forget she that was the Goddess of her generation in the 50s/beginning of the 60s. She was the High Priestess of the beatniks in Europe. Even Bob Dylan talked about her
she is beautiful, timeless in this picture, she can belong to any decade, right now is as if she is in 2008. I admire her temendouly for her singing and personalty that shows so much in the way she portrays herself.
You are very welcome. I've been trying to find her rare stuff. I don't want to post anything that is easily available on CD or DVD. This was another of those songs I loved when I was little.

So brilliant. She took a song about masturbation, and turned it into an impression of the emotional torment of lovers being apart.
Considering this and her version of Cohen's "Suzanne", she has a genius to her.

Um...How the hell did you think "masturbation" when you heard the original?
Lethkhar2000 2 years ago
Hmm.... A guy's hanging out in his bathroom at 3 AM staring at an old photo of his ex-girlfriend in lingerie, feeling mournful, and doing what?

Wow...
And I suppose "Layla" is about cunnilingus. I mean, what else could a guy possibly be doing on his knees?
