hi I just wanted to ask I question. I want to study photography and eventually become a wild life photographer. is this a good beginner camera for taking pictures of wild life. is the shutter speed fast? I am interested in this camera cause its very cheap and I dont have a lot to spend on a camera right now. I am just starting out so I dont need a really fancy slr camera just need a camera that has fast shutter speed for taking pictures of things that moved fast like birds. thanks
this was excellent and informative! But in your next video, it would be swell if you just talked normally, just like you were talking to a friend and showing him your camera.
@itschickenthursday Couldn't agree more. That was two years ago, and I realize it sounds like I was forcing it. I definitely don't do that anymore. Thanks for the comment.
im a professional photographer working at a portrait studio, we use a nikon there. But at home, i am saving for my own dslr. i currently have a canon powershot, but it doesnt do what i need it to do. i have never worked with a dslr outside of my studio. i was wondering how well this camera would do at concerts or weddings etc. please get back to me! thank you!
If you're gonna get an SLR get something with AT LEAST 14 megapixels. If I'm gonna buy 10 megapixel camera, I may as well buy a point-and-shoot camera. Also, what ISO does this camera use?
@HedgehogStudios1 Well, a point and shoot camera does not have much focus point abilities, also the picture quality comes out a lot better because the sensor is more advanced and also larger, therefore an SLR would be of higher quality images than a point and shoot. For the ISO, I believe it can go up to ISO1600, although it gets quite grainy at that stage. I suppose, you get what you pay for.
You need some sort of a memory card to save pictures. Some cameras have it built in, but most don't. However, they're cheap and there are many different sizes available.
@iJaredMS I've taken some good sports photos with this camera. I've changed computers so I don't have any. I do have some picture of dances, if you like.
@iJaredMS The lens would be the main issue with sports photos. You would want a lens with a longer telephoto range as well as a lens that has a large aperture, f/2.8 for example, to allow a lot of light in so that you can take photos at fast shutter speeds to freeze the action. Of course higher end cameras will also shoot at much faster frame rates which is nice when you need to take a bunch of shots very fast.
hi Brad, i think your review is good and very informational.... But, there is one thing you could work on: the way you speak. right now you're talking to us like an announcer on a commercial. everybody, and i mean everybody hates those guys because they are so annoying. don't be that guy brad, you're better than that... talk to the camera like you're talking to one of your friends. don't be nervous, just lay back, relax, and talk. that said, i give this a 4/5 star review.
@domcho101 talk to it like its your friend? its just a camera? he speaks perfectly. maybe he was meant to be an announcer but that doesnt matter it just a review
you said that its good for beginners but if the beginner gets much better at photography , is it still worth it to have that camera??
and even though the zoom lenses has a limit on how far it can go, do you think how far it goes is good ?
what do you mean by it not having a memory stick, can it still save the photos or do you have a small amount of photos you can save,if so how many? do you find when you take a picture it looks a bit professional?
visually pleasing? I actually thought the silver and black looked a lot sharper and not quite so "nerdy". Unfortunatly, the silver cost $50 more than the black. I got the black.
Great review, I'll soon be getting one myself! I'm getting the black because I agree that the silver is more unattractive and I also think that the black one looks more professional.

If I chose to get a refurbished model (<$400 price range), what risks would I be taking? What exactly would be different?

Why is it not good with sport photos? If you get a better lens will it be better for sports?

@iJaredMS I find it quite useful with sports photos. It's not top of the line, but it's good enough.

Dilemma: Buy this used now with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens for 400 dollars, get the XSi for whatever the cheapest price is on boxing day?
tipoomaster 2 years ago
personal opinion: if money is not a problem buy, the xsi, if it is, take in consideration the advantages and disadvantages for Eg.
(1000D)XS 10Mp and (450D)XSi 12Mp - is it really a gain? 10MP is more that enough to print photographs in A3 size.
XS 2.5'' LCD and XSI 3'' - I will use mostly the viewfinder.
...
...
...
I will buy a 1000D(Xs) for 419€ with a 18-55 IS new, I thinks its is a grate deal

@AndreCbrito ya i was going to get the xsi to but i got the canon xs it take hell of good pics.

This camera would still be worth it, intermediates even use it.
As far as the lens, you can always change that later so it's not much to worry about.
As for your next question, I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure that the XS has no

xs or xsi? wich would u choose for a sorta beginner photographer (have been taking pictures with the xti)
CrazyLini 2 years ago
The XSi isn't worth the extra price vs the XS, so I would go with the XS unless you need spot metering sooo badly.
