No one is talking about their haircuts here (that took place when the Lotus video came out), but if you look at the comments here people are getting all upset when someone says they don't like how Different Sense sounds. It's ridiculous. It's like people feel like if you're a fan of a band, then you need to love everything they do.

In a way, I don't like that Kyo's vocals are layered, but at the same time, it gives an amazing feeling of emotions at once. Can't wait to hear it all!
I'm down with this so far. Looking forward to the release and the album in August, which means a US tour isn't far away. Hopefully the use of layering isn't a sign that Kyo's voice is finally starting to give out after all these years and hospital visits. That would be a major downer. :(
@chavochavo22 ill give you small advice, you have to learn how to do exhale or inhale type screams before that, not the ones where you actually yell. they are done in something called whistle register which is a step above falsetto. the man who has the highest recorded note sings in that type of voice.
@lileekill it is power of Dir en grey, the most of their new songs are hard to like at first, but as you listen it over and over, then you are like: "I get a point now" And then, you aren´t tired to listen it 1000000 x, you still can find something new in the song.
It's not the first time Dir en Grey have done something like this. Uroboros featured a lot of screamed vocals, inasmuch as you can call them screams. Kyo's vocals are not only unique but varied. He can do the back of the throat growl, this kind of screeching or clean singing. Trying to lump Dir en Grey into a category is impossible as every album has been different. A little progressive, a little nu-metal, maybe a little deathcore, but never one style.
@qu7aker are you mad ? It doesn't sound like deathcore... Listen to Bring me the horizon, A Thousand Year Slavery, Hester Prynne or As Blood Runs Black and it's very very VERY different from this teaser.

But Dir en grey is Dir en grey, that's all.

I'm down with this so far. Looking forward to the release and the album in August, which means a US tour isn't far away. Hopefully the use of layering isn't a sign that Kyo's voice is finally starting to give out after all these years and hospital visits. That would be a major downer. :(

@chavochavo22 ill give you small advice, you have to learn how to do exhale or inhale type screams before that, not the ones where you actually yell. they are done in something called whistle register which is a step above falsetto. the man who has the highest recorded note sings in that type of voice.

@lileekill it is power of Dir en grey, the most of their new songs are hard to like at first, but as you listen it over and over, then you are like: "I get a point now" And then, you aren´t tired to listen it 1000000 x, you still can find something new in the song.

It's not the first time Dir en Grey have done something like this. Uroboros featured a lot of screamed vocals, inasmuch as you can call them screams. Kyo's vocals are not only unique but varied. He can do the back of the throat growl, this kind of screeching or clean singing. Trying to lump Dir en Grey into a category is impossible as every album has been different. A little progressive, a little nu-metal, maybe a little deathcore, but never one style.

Honestly, I used to be a hardcore Diru fan, but I'm not really digging their new stuff as much. They're still amazing, but I adored their "Vulgar" and "Withering to Death" days. :I
No I'm not hating, and I do understand that bands change and evolve. I'm just not really digging where they've gone. :[[[

And they will always be themselves.. If they change, that's what they want to do.. At least they're making music the way they want to and feel.. Thats better than making music for the fans.. People should respect with what they are doing, their music has been and is still great

16 second previews always lie to me, I have heard some of these in the past and they have lowered my expectations only to have them blown away when I hear the final product... I never judge off of previews...

That's true. I remember how the 15 seconds clip of "hageshisa..." sounded so different from the rest of the song after all. And I think, considering what the people who went to watch the live say, the complete version of "different sense" will probably give an entirely different impression.

Dir en grey is a progressive band with some influences but ONE UNIQUE SOUND. The Dir en grey's sound. If you want to compare their sounds with other bands... You can say Dir en grey is a mixture of most bands like Coheed and Cambria, A Lot Like Birds, envy, Opeth, Tool, DevilDriver, Between The Buried And Me, Faith no More... But Dir en grey is Dir en grey, that's all.
