You know what I love about GGXX AC? Anyone can win in this game. Everyone is awesome in the right hands. Sure, there's tier lists, but they mean so very little compared to most other fighters. A "lower tier" can still whoop the shit out of a "high tier" in the right hands.
Fuck. I just watched Shounen have a match against Buppa, FAB, BLEED, and Kaqn. Kaqn is the only one that took a single round, and he still took just that. Those are all very highly regarded, world class players...or were, I'm not current. Is Testament really that overwhelming in AC? Is Shounen (TE) the Ogawa (ED) of AC?
@TheFleeingPhoenix Testament is not overwhelming, Shounen is. I can't even name another Jap Testament player that is close to Shounen. Shounen/N-o/Woshige just won supper battle last year. This year Shounen is grouping with Ogawa. Looking forward to matches.
thas why i play testament, and i dont even use frc's most of the time and he is still god. the EXE beast have such gud recovery,intermiediate players like myslef dont even need frc's to be godlike with testament. im not even that gud ive beaten great players with my testement

that kind of distracted me from my actual comment, shounen does have a pretty cheap loop but im sure if the char you play had one you'd use it as well, plus shounen was always a decent player before they added in the loop he has skill, no reason to always badmouth him.

Almost every character has a loop. =/ Order Sol has one and I don't use his. Slayer has one and I don't use his. Apparently Anji has a loop too but I've never seen it (and obviously don't use it).

I must say if you are commenting on testament being a cheap character when you play as a slayer you must be an idiot. I play slayer solely and find that he is one of the cheapest characters in the game. with 25% tension any random counter hit turns into at least an 8 hit if not more. Give me 50% tension and any normal combo and I can 2 hit with chikada dandy. which this move alone will do 260 damage in a SINGLE MOVE. outright kills chip and allows 1 combo kills on the cast.
He also has some of the best invince frames in the game if you know how to jump cancel/special cancel a jump. Shinkada every character in this game has a combo that does obscene damage or his crazy in some way. The timing to do a Shounen Badlands loop (up to 17) is really really difficult. Before you comment as if you know everything. Try out the cast and find their cheapness. Stay away from the OS/SL Scrubbyness until you recognize all characters have their pluses. Again I play slayer guys!

Slayer IS cheap but it's for his obscene mixups, and that stupid FB uppercut. I stopped playing SL about two weeks after AC came out. On the occasion I use him for fun, I use neither; I just liked him for his mass of feints and mindgames through dandy step and teleporting.
I know every character has their hooks and that's my point. Testament's hook should be a careful layout of traps, not a loop that he can initiate from like half his fucking moveset to do 50% of your health.
Shinkada I notice you have selective hearing as well as backing out of previous statements. To do a Badlands loop requires quite tight frame timing. A real badlands loop is a Ground badlands into Tiger Knee'd Badlands as close to the ground as possible. I hope I don't have to explain to you that Tiger Kneeing is quite difficult as well as its only use is to make the loop even possible past a couple of loops. Learn badlands loop then Say its cheap. otherwise shutup because you don't know.

The Badlands loop is -not hard to do-. I tried it out to experiment once and it took me about four attempts to do a perfect loop of it. My timing isn't even that good, I'm no master of Slashbacks or grapple breaks, that's for sure.
For the kind of people who see 10 frames as generous timing, the Badlands loop is mindlessly easy. For me, it's still certainly not a huge challenge.
Post a vid of you doing a Badlands loop 7 times on a light character. Anyone can do a rep of a loop what your talking about is doing multiple consecutive loops of a move to end a match. Saying I can do one loop doesn't mean you can get max damage out of it. An easy loop is a loop that you can max damage it easily every time without thinking. Will I accidently drop this loop and give my opponent an opening.

That's what I meant when I said 'perfect loop'. The full 15 hits. The Badlands loop is easy to do if you're good with timing. Any combo is, you just need to memorize the sequence, which is why all the good, non-cheap characters involve strategy, planning and mindgames to maximize their damage (trap layout, feints, hitting with one of OS' predictable but fecking painful moves, etc) as opposed to hitting with an initiator and then just running off buttons. =/
Using order sol as an example is pretty terrible, hes predictable but all he aims is for the same combo which is easy because of his large damage. this game happens to be one of the most balenced games out there because everything a character can do has been weighed. No character is "the crap character" they all have redeeming qualities. you are just johning heavily over a strict timing Tigerkneed combo. while playing SL and OS. which are happy fun time characters.

Because they all have good gameplay hooks, like the coin charge system, the yoyo branches, even Anji's fuujin branches, that their play style revolves around.
Testament, thanks to his stupid loop, can go through an entire match without using a single trap.
All testaments use the traps to help maneuver an opponent, testament cannot just badlands loop because a player will not be hooked into a situation where he can be. if he knows what hes doing. Testaments EXE beast forward and back is stronger than his badlands, because it solves many problems, the traps are ways to maneuver a character. if you wanted traps that end a match play yugioh. Anji is one of the easier characters to pick up and has some bad matchups but some good ones. hes not crap.
And I would happily post a video, before you accuse me of dodging the subject, if I had a capture card. Lord knows I'm not buying one just to proove to some idiot on Youtube that a combo I already know is easy, is easy.
theres 3 ways to upload a video. Camcorder, Capture card, or DVR recording device. lord knows I would hate for you to spend 50-90 dollars on a dvr record device like dazzle etc. or more money on a capture card. however there is such a thing as a camcorder and if you happen to have the ability to get on the internet Im gonna guess you also can find a friend to lone you a camcorder for 3 seconds to upload it. they have these neat hookup thingys that go into a computer to... gasp upload.
ya ogawa is ruthless... i havent seen a vid with him playing shounen though or a testament in fact. but i bet ogawa would destroy testament. but on the other hand i'd say he will have some trouble because teatament is fucking too strong.
And getting in the right position for a Badlands loop is no better than finding yourself poisoned and in a gravedigger loop as in the previous GG's. Shounen doesn't (or can't) do Badlands loop against people like Kaqn "when he feels like it".
You haven't seen abuse yet. Shounen, like other Japanese players are more conservative. Thus they don't go for the high damaging, 50% hp combos. He probably would do it if the opponent had no burst and was about to die. I'm guessing he wanted to okizeme more.

No, he doesn't do it because Order Sol is fairly heavy and Kaqn's good enough to not get caught in obvious setups. Otherwise he spams Badlands like he would a sammich for his husband. God, why do I torture myself by talking to people who think Shonen's a good player?

Actually, yes, I did only hear about Shounen as of Accent Core. Because he was only ever at the level he's at now, as of Accent Core. I'd never heard of him beforehand because he didn't win nearly as many matches, because he didn't have the damn Badlands loop. I already looked through some of his Slash vids.
And? If you still think he wasn't then as what he was now considering the age of those vids then I imagine it must be very hard for you to call *anyone* a good player.
Shonen has become what he is in accent core more because of the forward EXE beast rather than the Badlands loop. Anyone who's been following him since #reload knows that Badlands simply sped up and simplified Shonen's gameplay - to him it's a pretty much just a more straightforward way for dealing the same amount of damage.
Forward EXE beast is responsible for making his gameplay more aggressive - if there was a ever move that greaty improved Shonen's Testament it was this one and not Badlands.
In fact it's not Badlands itself but rather the fear of the move that wins the game for Shounen. People tend to play extra defensive because of it - and this the biggest mistake you can ever make against Testament.

I agree with that last sentance, but that's all. If I ever see a Testament player do as much damage in a single combo as one of Shounen's 17-hit Badlands-into-key-special combos, then I wouldn't mind AS much.
But you yourself said. It's a SIMPLIFIED way. That's the anti-thesis of Guilty Gear. Do Bridget, Venom, or any of the other more complex, usually-trap-based characters have simplified shortcuts? No. Should they? No.
Then you obviously don't know Shounen's gameplay. The best combo I've ever seen him do almost killed Koichi's I-no in one run. That was once upon a time back in XX.
As *if* there weren't enough videos here in youtube to show that he doesn't quite spam the Badlands loop as much as people claim him to do, although he *does* spam Badlands itself.

What I'm saying is that if you just went around simplifying all the characters' combos you'd end up with, ah, Street Fighter. You can't just say the Badlands Loop is acceptable 'cus 'He could've done that much damage anyway with a thrice as complicated combo IF HE FELT LIKE IT'. Even if Shounen didn't need the Badlands loop then he's sure as hell come to rest on it now. He doesn't do a different combo if he's in the wrong position, he waits until he IS in the right position.
It's true that the Badlands loop greatly improved Testament's ability to do damage- now many more openings can become bigger, no gauge combos, in the same way that Sol did when he got Sidewinder in Slash (and even more so when clean hits became less stringent in AC), but what you're being told is very true- even though Shounen, as any Testament player should, use the Badlands loop, his combos usually consist of other things.
He usually does the 1 hit badlands in the air bit more than he does the loop, or, as "Doggie" told you, uses the FRC forward EXE Beast to wake up the opponent, and uses these combos because, unlike the loop, they can increase in damage depending on how much gauge Shounen chooses to use. He knows how to use ALL of the moves in Testament's arsenal, not just badlands.

I don't think I've seen a single round where at least 50% or more of the opponent's life hasn't been drained exclusively because of the loop. Even this match against Kaqn, Shonen would've won in half the time if he hadn't self-botched so many loops. Dumbass can't even do his own cheap bullshit right.

Forward EXE beast is responsible for making his gameplay more aggressive - if there was a ever move that greaty improved Shonen's Testament it was this one and not Badlands.
In fact it's not Badlands itself but rather the fear of the move that wins the game for Shounen. People tend to play extra defensive because of it - and this the biggest mistake you can ever make against Testament.

I agree with that last sentance, but that's all. If I ever see a Testament player do as much damage in a single combo as one of Shounen's 17-hit Badlands-into-key-special combos, then I wouldn't mind AS much.
But you yourself said. It's a SIMPLIFIED way. That's the anti-thesis of Guilty Gear. Do Bridget, Venom, or any of the other more complex, usually-trap-based characters have simplified shortcuts? No. Should they? No.

Then you obviously don't know Shounen's gameplay. The best combo I've ever seen him do almost killed Koichi's I-no in one run. That was once upon a time back in XX.
As *if* there weren't enough videos here in youtube to show that he doesn't quite spam the Badlands loop as much as people claim him to do, although he *does* spam Badlands itself.

But don't change the subject. We were talking about Shounen's Testament and you go on blabbing about the character and guilty gear in general. As if it matters, because there *is* no other "usually-trap-based" character with Testament's strengths and weaknesses.

Oh, and "SIMPLIFIED" may indeed be the antithesis of Guilty Gear but I fail to see how you could possibly make the connection between *that* and my words "simplified Shonen's gameplay".

What I'm saying is that if you just went around simplifying all the characters' combos you'd end up with, ah, Street Fighter. You can't just say the Badlands Loop is acceptable 'cus 'He could've done that much damage anyway with a thrice as complicated combo IF HE FELT LIKE IT'. Even if Shounen didn't need the Badlands loop then he's sure as hell come to rest on it now. He doesn't do a different combo if he's in the wrong position, he waits until he IS in the right position.

It's true that the Badlands loop greatly improved Testament's ability to do damage- now many more openings can become bigger, no gauge combos, in the same way that Sol did when he got Sidewinder in Slash (and even more so when clean hits became less stringent in AC), but what you're being told is very true- even though Shounen, as any Testament player should, use the Badlands loop, his combos usually consist of other things.

He usually does the 1 hit badlands in the air bit more than he does the loop, or, as "Doggie" told you, uses the FRC forward EXE Beast to wake up the opponent, and uses these combos because, unlike the loop, they can increase in damage depending on how much gauge Shounen chooses to use. He knows how to use ALL of the moves in Testament's arsenal, not just badlands.

I don't think I've seen a single round where at least 50% or more of the opponent's life hasn't been drained exclusively because of the loop. Even this match against Kaqn, Shonen would've won in half the time if he hadn't self-botched so many loops. Dumbass can't even do his own cheap bullshit right.

Well, clearly you can't be swayed. Think what you want about Shounen, it doesn't really matter to me.
But try playing Testament, provided that he's such a "cheap and easy" character to use. I promise it's not just badlands loop after badlands loop!

I know it's not, but he pretty much revolves around it when put in the wrong hands. I'll stick to Order Sol and Slayer. And Venom or Bridget if I can ever be bothered. I wouldn't mind having a FUN trap character.
