The girl in this video had a stage name (she was an exotic dancer aka stripper) named Holly Woods (not to be confused with the lead singer in the band 'Toronto')
She came thru the Alberta strip club scene a few times in the 80's.
I was having lunch at Wendy's and I heard this song over the radio. Never heard it before. Thought it was a new song. I guess it must be in my subconscious from the 80's. I loved it. But I listened to the band's other songs and didn't like any of them.
WOW! Hard to believe this is the same prog rock FM from "Phasors on Stun" (relative) fame!!! I've never heard any of their music past City of Fear! This is so sad! But nearly every band has to reach out to try and achieve some success as the times change! Stunning!!!
saw this girl dancing in the "House of Lancaster" about 20 years ago. Let's just say she was showing a lot more than in this video, if you know what i mean.
@HomerPL No greatest hits, unfortunately. This song is from "Con-Test" and "Dream Girl" is from "Tonight", which also included this, along with a few other songs from "Con-Test", as bonus tracks on the CD release. You should be able to buy both on eBay, though "Con-Test" is easier to find on vinyl than on CD.
saw them at the CNE in Toronto..breezy summer night with the moon sitting high..great memories of great times..Nash the Slash was an awesome chaacter..
There were so many fantastic Canadian bands that should and would have done great things without the 80s sound and video.....having said that....well some of you know the rest.
if u were in your 20's in the 80's in southern ontario..this was the song to enjoy. and will always bring back the memories. !!! enjoy, and thanks for posting
Whoa- that chick is smokin' hot! Her hair is f'n beautiful! I favorited this video just so I can look at her often. What a beauty. Thank you for posting this video!
WHAT do people have against this song?..it's a bouncy fun groove around the dance floor TOON!..and nothing that has 'Nash the Slash' on guitar is anything but COOOOLLLL..this ame out the year I moved to Toronto..what a blast those years were for great pop toonz..
Yea limewire won't accept just too letters in the search. So how can you put in another letter when (FM) is all there is. So I was able to get the song on cassette. I just got a cable like on a set of headphones on one end and patch cables on the other. Plugged it into my computer speaker jack and the patch end into the cassete deck end. So now I can get any song this way. I'm still into cassettes so it's fine for me. Getting the video now will be more fun.
FM never sucked. Can you blame the guys for wanting a hit single? "Just like you" and "Dream girl" still bring back good memories of the 80's, not bad ones. But then again, I grew up on 80's pop radio and most FM fans grew up in the 70's.
: ) Thanks for the video, good tune. Seen them a couple of times, the last at the C.N.E. grounds, then seen Nash The Slash solo at the old Stars bar in Brampton. Always liked this band, Black Noise album is timeless, hard to believe it was produced by the C.B.C.
was that in '89 or '90?..I wast the sme concert!..LOL..Nash was great..did you see them at Nathan Philips Square for that free show they put on?..good band fun 'toons'..
I didn't see the Nathan Philip's show, but I think you're right good band, damn good band. If they do play again, I'll probably be there, I'm the one with the leather cowboy hat. Thanks for the reply, have a good day.
Soap in your mouth young man! I'm not into nationalist stereotypes, you can say what you want about Canadians as I am a U.K citizen. I however am curious what makes a portion of younger U.K citizens notably rude and belligerent, and a bit racist. There's also a band called FM/U.K, I'm sure you've never heard of this band.

Oh man did an interview with the band at UNB in Fredericton when Simon Brierly played guitar, they were a great live band. Underated canadian gems, aint it always that way though.
..honestly...why don't people like this toon?...I like the beat...the lyrics..it's a jump and dance toon..I know it's not their best...but I love this toon..
Wow this SUCKS !!!....I have Black Noise and their Direct To Disc album, seeing this video is like watching a whole different band. No wonder why they dissapeared.
Nash the Slash...oh yeah...these fellas played at Nathan Phillips Square...downtown Toronto...Canada Day 1987...THAT was a party...great fun song too...thnx...Mike from Canada...
Wow. The internet's an amazing thing. I havent seen this vid since I was a young 'un....I only saw it once, but it stuck in my head. Now, 22 years later...
Thanks silver345, I own the c.d, Tonight/Con-test on one. Pretty obscure, but it's good 80's pop/rock. I'm hoping Kurdtss will find the video for Dreamgirl, but I'm afraid it's a lost cause. Anyone heard that song on the radio in the last few years?

I remember Dream Girl and the video with the geeky guy and the hot blonde. I managed to dl the song on mp3, I still listen to it at work. If u want I could e-mail it to you. Just offering.
kurdtss!! A MILLION THANKS for finding and posting this. I was convinced this was the Cars 1st several times i heard it on CFNY. Thanks again for posting(i see u read your requests..lol)
Wow I met Dave Marsden there when it was on Kennedy Road here in Brampton and I met Simple Minds outside there.Oh the good old days where have they gone?
Yep! That was with Ben Mink instead of Nash The Slash. I prefer the Ben stuff myself. Anyone got any live FM from that tour? I went right out and bought their best album after that tour- "City Of Fear"
Nash is dressed like a butler in this vid because at one time there was a Pepsi commercial in Canada that featured a character that was bandaged with sunglasses holding a tray with Pepsi on it. He tried to sue Pepsi for stealing his likeness so Pepsi pulled the Ad off the air. The band Rough Trade were in it too. Also that white radio with the flashing lights in it at the beginning apears in Nash's video for American Band Cheack out my profile I have that vid on there
FM was a great band. They played at one of my high scool dances way back when. Dream Girl and Take The Time To Dream are my favourites off Con-Test. Nash is wrapped up in his work as usual. Set Your Phasers On Stun! Thanks.
