ok 2 questions: on my mixer i have the output but the end is 3.5mm and i just connected that to my pc throught the holt that shows ( a mic lol) is that right?. second question my mixer has the headphone jack in it, i can use that or i need all that stuff u used there to use ur headphones?
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!? im starting to record drum tracks and im buying a mic pack and it comes with 4 mics. im buying the chords and everything but now all i need is an interface and i dont kno which one to get! do i need an interface with 4 mic inputs and 4 mic outputs or just 2 mic in puts and 2 mic out puts and what does all of that mean? whats the chepest way record my drums with a 4pack mic set and an interface plase help.
a very noob question .. so basically you get mics connected to an audio mixer and from dere you connect it to the laptop ?? so do you mix on the laptop program or mixer ?? and how much is the mixer for a basic one ?
does the Mixer have phantom power?? and also, when you record with mixcraft, does the song ever like skip or lag when your recording?? Because I seem to have that problem :/
you can't record every channel of mixer to separate track in software simultaneously? Like if you plug 5 mics, every mic is recording on different track? All stuff will be recorded on one track?
@MrCNDrums I don't have any, I want to buy some, so I watch some videos. I need AUDIO interface and mixer in one, but I want that any channel is recording on different track. Like kick drum on one, snare on other and so on. Or 3 mics, at the same time of recording but each in different channel. I look at M AUDIO PROJECT I/O but it costs about 1000$ in my country.!
dude, get to the point god dammit!! The title is "How I Record My Drum Set", not "look at my broken cymbals, lights Mics & desktop background pic"....JEEEEEEEZ!!!!
you can use your desk as an interface. that will give you control over each mic after you've recorded it by multitracking rather than just recording a stereo mix. then use the line out to go straight to your stereo. fuck that little usb thing off. tuning your drums will help massively. i have got some of the best sounds out of worse kits, you just need to know how to tune/dampen/mic them to get the sound you want.
Hey I don't know if you already answer this question to other youtuber yet or not, if you already did please answer it again in a simple and easy way to understand. My question is I got 2 mic setup already and video myself playing a song. So the video and the mic are in a difference setup, so how can i get that sound with mic that I already play go into the video I just recorded?
@paintballpro23 i always just went straight from my mixer to the line -in on the PC. sounded fine. i mean, if ur wantin pro quality recordings its gonna cost. but this is a good way for a young band to cut a demo or somethin, serves the purpose.
whats up man. can you hear your drums processed through your headphones when you play. I think your mixer has built in compression and reverb. Im looking to mic my drums but I want to hear a processed drum sound through my headphones.
hey man, does hooking your mixer up to the u-control, then to your computer make any difference (audio quality etc), rather than just hooking it straight to your computer?
Does the Behringer mixer have the effects for a good drum sound such as compression and reverb. I dont need to record I just want a good sound when I practice to songs. Can you hear your mix through your headphones.
awww man why did you leave the mixer for an audio interface.....i mean i own a mixer for my drum mics but is a audio interface really better than a mixer with pre eq settings??
For a double-kick I reccomend you the Speed Cobra. It's built based upon the Iron Cobra, featuring a new system oon the bearings to provide no friction, recessed chain, and a longer footboard to provide you the fastest and best 16th bass drum notes yet, also with additional attack. Plus, all the things you know about the Iron Cobra, including the Cobra Coil, are in the Speed Cobra as well.
@logodrumline14 Then all the things you'd expect from the Iron Cobra should be in there. If it doesn't seem to work for you, try buying a newer one as you might've bought one before the tweaks were made. The Speed Cobra itself is the best option I know as it happens to be an UPGRADE from the Iron Cobra.
haha! My first cymbals were ZBT's and I fucking wrecked that 18" crash!! it was almost split in half.. and there were cracks up to the bell on several places then later I bought a pack of used cymbals and there was one like that and it only took me a week to crack it half way to the bell! Those poor cymbals..
I really want to be able to record the songs we make (our band). And I was wondering if I could use my home cinema/hifi speakers and receiver instead of studiomonitors? The thing is I love the sound from my Monitor Audio RX6 and it would be shame if I can't use them.
@aXque yea you probably could. if you can get your speakers to be hooked up the same way monitors are you can do it no problem. i haven't done it before so i can't give you any advise on how to, but i know it probably can be done.
@aXque Studio monitors are actually quite important if you want a nice sounding mix. The thing about consumer speakers is that the low end is boosted or the eq is tweaked slightly. Studio monitors were specifically built to make the mix sound as neutral as possible.
@cococrisp20 the advantage is with multitrack recording you can put each microphone on its own recording track, which means you'll have more control of your drum sound. with a mixer you'll have 1 or 2 tracks that you have to put all of your mics on so there's not much control.
When you record onto your software though your mixer and fire-wire dose it come up as a single recording or loads of different recording like each drum mic ??
theres something i don't get when you said you got a wire coming out of that UCA audio device and into the stereo well i dont get it because if you got a song on your computer what you want to play why cant you plug ur headphones into the laptop in stead of stereo can you just use a Hy-Fi system instead i just dont get any of it can you make a more detailed video and send it to me because i don't get it
How do you assign each mic a seperate track for editing. I have nearly the exact same mixer ( I use the USB 2442 ) and whenever I record drums, the drums are recorded as one track, rather than have each mic have its own channel for editing. HELP!!!!
@SomeGuyWithABucket You wanna be sure that the mixer is full-duplex in order to record in separate tracks. I recently just learned about this, and I know how you feel.
For example, there's a mixer out there called 'Alesis Multimix 8 USB'. It has phantom power, and doubles as an interface. Thing is, it sends a stereo-mix to your computer on a single track. Now, the 'Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0' DOES support multi-track recording. Try joining a recording forum, and ask or look around.
@SomeGuyWithABucket These mixers can only send out a stereo signal. What you are recording is the L/R channel outs. No individual tracks here, sorry. You have to pre mix, which can be difficult.
I am looking to get a very similar setup with a Behringer 1002Bfx and the same interface that you have in this video. My question is do you like your mixer and interface? and why do you use your stereo headphone jack instead of the one on your interface?
@curlysheepishbas ok fair enough there is more but uf you watch his drum covers he tends to hit thriugh the cymbals which does cause the to crack but you are right with it not being the only reason
@logodrumline14 ive been hearing about them alot and thought id look into them.. but first id like to hear from you , are they worth it? im a metal drummer and do alot of fast double bass.. whats to know about them?
@Gl4nG3R they're great. i've gotten quite used to them and they're really nice pedals. i can't tell you if they're good for fast double bass though because i cant play double bass fast at all, its something i gotta work on this summer. but these pedals are very nice and the longer foot board makes it easier for me to play heel toe too!
@oioiborracho on this video i used Acoustica Mixcraft 4, but i just bought an audio interface that came with Cubase Le 5, so I'm using that now and am working on getting agood drum sound so i can start recording again :)
@logodrumline14 And which microphones do you use? I have recently bought a t-bone dc4000 set and i use them with a xenyx1832fx and cubase sx5... I'm completing my equip to start producing dub!
im debating on buying the Behringer XENYX X2222 or the X224...ppl been sayin that Behringer's not the best brand of mixers, because I guess some of the channels will burn out or not work anymore. Some say that you cant record thru all the channels at the same time? Wtf is that? I wna record my whole drumset, with the 7 mics I have for it, and I dont wna waste money on some bitch ass mixer that mite not help me at all...any suggestions?
@WHOwantSHOTTIE The Behringer Xenyx mixers are very good quality. however, they're not the best for recording drums. i found out the hard way. you can't record each mic on a separate track, which sucks because as a drummer you want to be able to do that in order to eq each mic individually to accommodate each drum. I just bought the TASCAM US-1800 USB Audi Interface. This allows you to record each mic on a separate track, and it costs less than the xenyx 2222. I recommend buying the interface.
hey , when you record your drums, on the program, do the drums come out as separate tracks or all in one? cuz i have the same mixer as you and i cannot get them to split separate. also do you recommend this recording software? thx
hey dude my b8 16" just cracked...don't buy that stuff, if you want good cymbals on a budget get some more of those pst 5's that you have, i hit really hard and pst 5's hold up really well for me, my first cymbals were b8's and i hate them...nice setup
@13Drumism yea my B8 cracked in a month. i hate them, but i i was just trying them out. i have a Paiste Alpha 16" as my man crash now. I've had it for almost a year now and it's still in perfect condition. my PST5 cracked along the bell somehow. I'm looking to get a new crash once i get enough money, so i might try some higher Zildjian cymbals too.
Hey, im just trying to figure this out, right now you have mics>mixer>pc. After you record a track, do you go from the pc>mixer>pc? Its a little confusing to me.
@posiedonpowertrio yea its absolutely true. i just took my drum set to my school for a concert were doing this week and when i played it the drums were so much fuller and blended so well. if i could i'd leave my drums at my school and just stay 3 hours after every day and practice lol
hey man i understand how to listen to the music while you play but i was wondering how to get the actual song and the drum track your recording to go together to make a drumcover. i have a mixer and mics and a laptop and recording software i just dont know how to putthe actual song in after im done recording the song with me drumming to it. if you could help me out the would be perfect because thats all i need
@MnMTnS there are 2 ways you can add the song in. 1. add it in before you mix your drums down into their final format. to do this you just put the song on its own track and sync it up with your drum tracks. just make sure there are no effects on the song. 2. add it in after you mix down your drums. when you're combining your video and audio to make the final video, you just add in the song and sync it up to everything else. i hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
@logodrumline14 alright so if im using say audacity i would put the song on its own track then have my own track for the drums. that would make sense as you said but how exactly would a get to record both of them at the same time?
this helped me soo much mate, thanks a bunch! im buying a behringer mixer with a u control, but im wondering how you get your tracks perfectly in time with your drums? i got really confused about the part where you plugged the u control into the streo.. much appreciated if you could explain that to me? cheers, julie
i looked up audio interfaces and everything i found only had two inputs. i don't need some professional recording equipment, i just want to be able to record my bass, snare, toms, and mabye an overhead, and fuck with it on my computer. What can i get that will do that job, without me hiring an asian to help me figure it out, or sell my car to pay for it?
@muffinsNsausage it depends on how much your willing to spend on an interface. the cheapest one i found that fits my needs and probably yours is $400. its a TASCAM US-1641 USB audio interface. it comes with a recording program so you dont have to spend more money, which is why it probably costs so much. it has 8 mic inputs so you should be able to hook up all of your mics to it. hope this helps!!
ok 2 questions: on my mixer i have the output but the end is 3.5mm and i just connected that to my pc throught the holt that shows ( a mic lol) is that right?. second question my mixer has the headphone jack in it, i can use that or i need all that stuff u used there to use ur headphones?

If you keep getting cymbals made of the B8 alloy, they will keep breaking because its a pretty weak metal, thats why they are so cheap.

logodrumline14 7 months ago
@logodrumline14 what's the advantage with multitrack recording? you're able to have several outputs as opposed to 1?
cococrisp20 7 months ago
@cococrisp20 the advantage is with multitrack recording you can put each microphone on its own recording track, which means you'll have more control of your drum sound. with a mixer you'll have 1 or 2 tracks that you have to put all of your mics on so there's not much control.

I have a question, How do you get the video to mix in with the drums? It should be a hell of a lot easier if i'm using electric drums.

oioiborracho 11 months ago
@oioiborracho on this video i used Acoustica Mixcraft 4, but i just bought an audio interface that came with Cubase Le 5, so I'm using that now and am working on getting agood drum sound so i can start recording again :)
logodrumline14 11 months ago
@logodrumline14 And which microphones do you use? I have recently bought a t-bone dc4000 set and i use them with a xenyx1832fx and cubase sx5... I'm completing my equip to start producing dub!
oioiborracho 11 months ago
@oioiborracho right now i use a variation of the samson 8-kit, but eventually i wanna upgrade to audix mics.

im debating on buying the Behringer XENYX X2222 or the X224...ppl been sayin that Behringer's not the best brand of mixers, because I guess some of the channels will burn out or not work anymore. Some say that you cant record thru all the channels at the same time? Wtf is that? I wna record my whole drumset, with the 7 mics I have for it, and I dont wna waste money on some bitch ass mixer that mite not help me at all...any suggestions?
WHOwantSHOTTIE 1 year ago
@WHOwantSHOTTIE The Behringer Xenyx mixers are very good quality. however, they're not the best for recording drums. i found out the hard way. you can't record each mic on a separate track, which sucks because as a drummer you want to be able to do that in order to eq each mic individually to accommodate each drum. I just bought the TASCAM US-1800 USB Audi Interface. This allows you to record each mic on a separate track, and it costs less than the xenyx 2222. I recommend buying the interface.

what does the u-control do?
pnicholson16 1 year ago
hitting your cymabls wrong, that's why they crack. You sort of have to roll over them, sort of wash idk it's hard to describe.
thathenryguy 1 year ago
not to be mean, but buy some better cymbals, like AAXs. if you can afford mics and a mixer you can afford aax's

How do I plug the mics into the mixer? Would I need to buy an extra cable?
JesseTorresrules 1 year ago
hey dude my b8 16" just cracked...don't buy that stuff, if you want good cymbals on a budget get some more of those pst 5's that you have, i hit really hard and pst 5's hold up really well for me, my first cymbals were b8's and i hate them...nice setup
13Drumism 1 year ago
@13Drumism yea my B8 cracked in a month. i hate them, but i i was just trying them out. i have a Paiste Alpha 16" as my man crash now. I've had it for almost a year now and it's still in perfect condition. my PST5 cracked along the bell somehow. I'm looking to get a new crash once i get enough money, so i might try some higher Zildjian cymbals too.

dumadave10 1 year ago
Hey, im just trying to figure this out, right now you have mics>mixer>pc. After you record a track, do you go from the pc>mixer>pc? Its a little confusing to me.

posiedonpowertrio 1 year ago
@posiedonpowertrio yea its absolutely true. i just took my drum set to my school for a concert were doing this week and when i played it the drums were so much fuller and blended so well. if i could i'd leave my drums at my school and just stay 3 hours after every day and practice lol
logodrumline14 1 year ago
i dont know if it has been said...but tilt your crash, thats why they are cracking because you are hitting them at a bad angle

what does the u control thing do?? and how much did the mics cost
drummerdude580 1 year ago
hey man i understand how to listen to the music while you play but i was wondering how to get the actual song and the drum track your recording to go together to make a drumcover. i have a mixer and mics and a laptop and recording software i just dont know how to putthe actual song in after im done recording the song with me drumming to it. if you could help me out the would be perfect because thats all i need
MnMTnS 1 year ago
@MnMTnS there are 2 ways you can add the song in. 1. add it in before you mix your drums down into their final format. to do this you just put the song on its own track and sync it up with your drum tracks. just make sure there are no effects on the song. 2. add it in after you mix down your drums. when you're combining your video and audio to make the final video, you just add in the song and sync it up to everything else. i hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
logodrumline14 1 year ago
@logodrumline14 alright so if im using say audacity i would put the song on its own track then have my own track for the drums. that would make sense as you said but how exactly would a get to record both of them at the same time?
MnMTnS 1 year ago
Had that same zbt and it did the exact same thing and theni cut the bell out with tin snips and made a zil bel
midwestbrigade12 1 year ago
this helped me soo much mate, thanks a bunch! im buying a behringer mixer with a u control, but im wondering how you get your tracks perfectly in time with your drums? i got really confused about the part where you plugged the u control into the streo.. much appreciated if you could explain that to me? cheers, julie

i looked up audio interfaces and everything i found only had two inputs. i don't need some professional recording equipment, i just want to be able to record my bass, snare, toms, and mabye an overhead, and fuck with it on my computer. What can i get that will do that job, without me hiring an asian to help me figure it out, or sell my car to pay for it?
muffinsNsausage 1 year ago
@muffinsNsausage it depends on how much your willing to spend on an interface. the cheapest one i found that fits my needs and probably yours is $400. its a TASCAM US-1641 USB audio interface. it comes with a recording program so you dont have to spend more money, which is why it probably costs so much. it has 8 mic inputs so you should be able to hook up all of your mics to it. hope this helps!!

@logodrumline14 dude i just bought the tascam us1641 for $300. killer deal
