As a trail lead, I guess that male 'dominance' is why inexperienced male riders always yank on and try to drive a horse around like a sports car and order it around like a slave. See the frustration when that horse doesn't do exactly as commanded! I always have to remind them that it's an animal, not a machine!
thats how humans have been for thousands of years. thats why men have always been hunters and women are at "home" looking after the kids because they are more caring and loving. its not about being sexist, that is just how humans are programmed. that is how 99.9% of the animal kingdom are programmed! apart from the seahorse, has anyone seen a male looking after the babies? men are born leaders. but i may be oldschool and not mind being a housewife...
Hi Rick, it sounds to me like you are fed up/ tired of/ frustrated with people who just don't need to be horse owners. That's why I quit training too. People just don't listen. Happy trails to you.
My wife and I enjoy Rick's videos very much. We have learned a lot about horse behavior through a really good viewpoint and can better understand horse behavior. Keep up the good work Rick (my wife agrees) and don't let the barn witches get to you! We would miss the vast amounts of knowledge you have to share about horses. I agree on the differences, but I wouldn't know why the differences are there the way they are. Without seeing the articles (and maybe a couple other sources), it's hard to say whether or not it's genetic predisposition (not the same as a trait, like eye or hair color), or it's cultural gender role. Or a mix of both. I hear of studies that point out the differences all the same, but there are so many possible reasons why, which is where my curiosity on the subject sits. Great video, as always !

I agree with you. When I was a teenager, I prefered hanging out with with my guy friends over my girlfriends, coulld'nt stand how some girls woud get so petty about things and take things so personally. When my guy friends fought they would get mad, beat each other up then bebest friends again an hour later. some of my girfriends stayed mad at each other for months. Heck I know I did it with my friends. My guy friends always kicked my butt when I got whiney about things, kept me grounded :)

I saw the video with the kid. If she cared about the horse and kid she wouldnt put her child on him. And let someone with experience handle that horse. Theres obviously a reason hes acting that way. My stallion did that and I diagnosed it as the saddle fitting ill. He hasnt bucked like this when we are bareback.
