  • Just got it back from paint.Much to do to get it back on the road

Kept the stock hydro units.Bad choice on my part

    lot of inner fender work

    D series fits much better

  • have you had any real speed test's on this yet? i am considering doing the same thing to my morris 1100, I cant wait to see it fully painted!! did the motor fit pretty well in the engine bay, or did you have to cut apart the inner fenders? could you use the same subframe and just modify to suit, or was it a full rebuild?

  • So what's the latest? Want to see more of this great car.

  • @classiccarz

    Hey CC

I've been sloughing off.Dec&Jan have been bad for making progress

About 90% of the car is sanded to 400 wet and ready for paint.I've been fighting the passenger door for what seems like weeks.Trying to get a ripple out.I need to post up a short vid so you guys can get a look at the new fender flares!

  • @classiccarz

also fixed the alternator. Purrs like a kitten

  • I just have poor judgment

  • Never knew these cars had so much appreciation - didn't even know they were sold in the US! My father had a Morris 1100.

  • If it's not street legal please sell to me.:) This car is awesome. Do you have everything documented on how you did it? I want to do the same. Your wheels fit perfect under the fenders. WELL DONE!

  • this is one of the funniest videos I ever seen on youtube and the narrator is a stand-up comic.

  • I HAVE AN AUSTIN 1100! RESPECT TO YOU GUYS! CAR IS FANTASTIC! ONE OF A KIND!!!! SOUNDS AMAZING! LOOKS AMAZING !!!!!!!!

  • @shaneshaky1

Still working on it I've removed the plastic flares and installed all steel from 91 VW Golf Looks much better.Check back in a few weeks. The body work is almost done and I'll be testing the clearance(with a vid)

  • Nice new wheels!

  • i had the same problem. turned out one rear rubber bump stop was missing

  • I also increased the suspension fluid pressure

added a bit of ride hight but got better axle angle in return

  • Are you using the Honda box on the 1100 driveshafts, or have you married the VTEC to the BLMC gearbox? What was the "Unhealthy" noise during the road test? Is it legal in the States to drive a car like that with no lights or window etc?

  • @VauxhallViva1975

I had custom drive shafts made.Honda on the inside, 1100 on the outside.

Noise was the rear tire rubbing on a mounting tab for the flares, that I've now removed

No it's not legal, but I need to test so I chance it

  • Wow - custom drive shafts would not have been cheap! :O As to testing, yeah, you have to do what you have to do to test, eh? ;) I only ask as in the States, you guys seem to be a bit more relaxed in what you can drive so long as it's not falling to bits. Here you have to have the car re-certified for any mods, which is why hot-rods basically don't exist here. :( I have one of these cars I am building myself, but standard running gear, but without roof - a convertible. Thanks for the reply.

  • @VauxhallViva1975 U got a Viva? I had a standard '68 model once and converted it to a GT2000. :)

  • Honda type R

  • Teg engine?
