Starter homes are "home depot" houses - everything you need is there - not always the cheapest, but they have it. Go shop the cheapest "new" home in your market - take a digital camera and take pictures if you have to of all the cabinets, fixtures, faucets, etc and then price it at Home Depot or Lowes - you'll be surprised how cheap it is.
