Not bad, but definitely different. Annette sounds younger, more innocent singing this song - and strangely, it works for me (though maybe not for everyone). Tarja's vocals were sweeping, more powerful in the lower registers.
I 100% agree with lalaCthulhuFthagn. Annette really sounds innocent, not that deadly 'fata morgana', as Tarja. I prefer Annette, not just because her voice, rather her character. I like the nice girl with good voice instead of the cold goddess, who give a shit to her own fans.

Listen to a live sdong sung by Anette, and then listen to a live song sung by Avril. And then listen to the edit songs and you will see a big difference between the edit Anette and live Anette. The difference isn't so big at Avril Lavigne.
I just listened to Tarja's "Nemo" ten minutes ago and searched this up out of curiosity to see how Anette measured up. She doesn't have Tarja's vocal range by any means, but her rendition wasn't bad at all. I'm excited to see them in concert later this month. =)
when tarja sings, its kinda like the range she sings it in is the bottom of her range so it flows smoothy without strain, pushing notes out or whatever.

Anette simgs it awesomely; yes it's different, but that IS allowed. She hits every note perfectly, has an excellent quality to her voice, and (imho) sounds much more accessible and less pompous than Tarja's operatic style vocal.

Well, it is not Annette's fault. She has a great voice, but the previous songs were written around Tarja's voice. I do think she sounds TERRIBLE, but (on this song) she isn't Tarja. I think that Tarja's voice is better than Annette's, but I just like Annette's voice better; personal preferance I guess.

I have a question for all of you stating that Nightwish is not Nightwish anymore. WHAT IS NIGHTWISH? An opera vocal? A full lyric tone? Guitars, keyboards? If the guys want to take 100 people more with them and do an orchestra, then that's Nightwish. If they want to take Jon Bon Jovi for vocals, then Nightwish it is. If they want to do Irish music and completely change direction, it's Nightwish, no matter what. You can say you don't like it, but not that it's not Nightwish.

Are you serious? The complete oppostite is true, where Tarja always sang in perfect pitch. Her vocals are what gave the songs their passion, whereas Anette's vocal are pretty mechanical, as you say, devoid of emotion. That and Anette sings flat and often off key.
As I said, I'm not talking technique. If you listen to the Amaranth-Single, Annette is even straining her voice slightly in parts. Is that evil evil singing technique? yep.

Anette simgs it awesomely; yes it's different, but that IS allowed. She hits every note perfectly, has an excellent quality to her voice, and (imho) sounds much more accessible and less pompous than Tarja's operatic style vocal.
Get over it and enjoy the new sound...Anette IS rather special!

i think most of u don't like her just bcuz is in Tarja's place, besides Annette's voice isn't the same as Tarja but in fact it's really good. so for me most of you don't care about the way she sings, most of u pay attentionon what she can't do than what she can, so if she's not Tarja stop say one's better tahan another, just enjoy the music the way it is...

Well, it is not Annette's fault. She has a great voice, but the previous songs were written around Tarja's voice. I do think she sounds TERRIBLE, but (on this song) she isn't Tarja. I think that Tarja's voice is better than Annette's, but I just like Annette's voice better; personal preferance I guess.

annette has a nice voice, but Tarja has more of an deep opera-like voice which really makes this song what it is. I'm just saying that Tarja better suited for the song-she gives it more feeling. Like the... *wow* feeling... :) Annettes still a good singer, but with sumplicity. She should sing songs with more innocence, that's just what she sounds like.

I have a question for all of you stating that Nightwish is not Nightwish anymore. WHAT IS NIGHTWISH? An opera vocal? A full lyric tone? Guitars, keyboards? If the guys want to take 100 people more with them and do an orchestra, then that's Nightwish. If they want to take Jon Bon Jovi for vocals, then Nightwish it is. If they want to do Irish music and completely change direction, it's Nightwish, no matter what. You can say you don't like it, but not that it's not Nightwish.

:O are you guys serious? it just doesn't fit. i'm not being biased or anything, i'm not even a nightwish fan.. annette can sing off the new songs in the album fine and i respect her for that but i think she's butchering nightwish's old songs and tarja's parts. her vocal colour (vocalists, you know what this is!) to the songs are stripping the substance of what nightwish was apart. it's sad!

Are you serious? The complete oppostite is true, where Tarja always sang in perfect pitch. Her vocals are what gave the songs their passion, whereas Anette's vocal are pretty mechanical, as you say, devoid of emotion. That and Anette sings flat and often off key.

As I said, I'm not talking technique. If you listen to the Amaranth-Single, Annette is even straining her voice slightly in parts. Is that evil evil singing technique? yep.
