Thank you for being honest and asking! The right knee is also very swollen on the horse, and when it is standing, if you look at the front legs, they appear crooked at the knee. In general, a horse's legs should appear quite straight in front, like a person's. Again, thanks for asking :)

Visited Egypt in Oct 2010 and the plight of the working horses in Aswan has not changed.

All the horses were poorly treated, over-worked, emaciate and as a result of this, they suffered from open wounds from the constant rubbing of the carriage straps.

i have pictures to prove this.

Sadly, there is no regulation or controls in Aswan as compared to Luxor and therefore, this evil trade of carting tourist about carries on in Aswan.

I think that any working horses anywhere, that are suffering should be helped. One way we can do that is by exposing the truth, and promoting organizations that can help.

And in the 19th century, the now better developed countries used small horses, in the coal mines; where these poor creatures never saw the daylight. And even dogs were used over here, for transport. It is hardly 50 years ago.

Lack of knowledg is why stuff like this happens. When the owner in a third world country uses a horse for work, thats their work. They need that animal to be able to work. They don't understand why the animal may get hurt and be unable to work. There are many organizations around the world that are educating these people.
