i.e., an instrumental piece that would be played before the actual singing of the chorale.
And there is a 3-part fugue going on in the manual parts. The fugue subject is derived from the 1st line of the chorale tune.
The repeated rising/falling sequence in the pedal part (symbolically reaffirming "we all believe"?) appears to be derived from another line of the chorale.
So it's a fugato chorale prelude. It's a fugue with an ostinato bass.
Yes, BWV 680. From the "Organ Mass" of 21 chorale preludes on Lutheran catechism hymns, also called Clavierubung Part 3 (Keyboard practice for connoisseurs). I posted a record of Lionel Rogg performing BWV 684 (baptism hymn).
I have played This Organ over 13 times Very Nice Organ with the bombarden 8 on choir going direct in to the church its self on the left hand side of ware u sit at the console. A very Romantic Sound And the BLackKeys are my Fav reminds Me of a French Organ as Iv played it.

It's not a fugue, it is a choral of Bach : the "Wir glauben Alle ein einen Gott! (BWV number is the one of the choral.)

is there still a mirror on top left hand side of the console so that the organist can spot a misbehaving treble with a mere flick of his eyes?
