  • That's a bull shark. They have tracked them moving between the lakes and the ocean. Any river that leads to the ocean could be home to bull sharks. It's not a new phenomenon. Look for matawan creek, new jersey

  • OMG I just went there and swam in that lake a few days ago! Didn't know this!

  • Search lake Nicaragua shark

  • That isn't a bullshark there is actually a species of shark that has been land locked in in this lake due to earthquakes since dino times

  • That was a good sized Bull!

  • I thought all the lake sharks were dead. I went to Nicaragua in 2009 and did research and all the literature said that most of the sharks were gone an that only VERY RARELY does anyone see them. While on the Isletas boat tour my guide told me some people have seen some on the far side of Ometepe and he saw one a few years ago. How often do Nicas see them?

  • These Freshwater Sharks Have Lived Since Millions of Years Ago In Lake Nicaragua and are around an island called Ometepe and are rarely seen on the islands.

THESE SHARKS ARE UNIQUE IN THE WORLD AND IT'S PROOVED BY SCIENTISTS

  • @rvc1998 No no bad information. They are just bull sharks that swim up the river from the Caribbean sea, its been on TV countless times...they actually have video of the sharks jumping up the rapids like Salmon. They are just common old bull sharks found in every major freshwater drainage in the world. More You Tube misinformation..that's why it is always best to look things up.

  • some people upset because the language of the people on the boat if anything that made me feel good about this video to see the people actin all lively haha. stop whining man if someone will judge someone else they're going to do it regardless if they're being themselves or not. they're called "racists"

  • just a bull shark in freshwater its a commen theng when u live in a river whut ends up coneect fastly to the sea

  • bullsharks do occur in freshwater everywhere but this is probably their most unique habitat, also home to the endangered sawfish. And yes it is very unsafe to swim in bullshark territory. This species is responsible for the highest number of attacks on humans.

  • good to see there are some left, I was sure the Chinese had finned them all & left the carcasses to rot

  • you should get a shark whistle. did you know that a lake sharks penis is 9 inches long?

  • Creepy shit...

  • que mal hablados

  • believe it or not Panama has fresh water sharks too, my granpa used to catch them

  • jajaja como me encanta ese acento nicaraguense alagranputaaaaaa

  • way a second i was born a rised in NIcaragua until my earlies 20 I used to lived 3 blocks from the great lake and always used to see los tiburones por las mananas cuando yo corria por la costa ellos se reproducen ahi y son adoptados al agua dulce ,actualmente vivo en CANADA y nunca he oido nada de tiburones en MICHIGAN i live 2 hours away from lake Michigan and never hear such thing of tiger sharks here.

  • It burn me up too when I hear some of my counrtymen talking in such vulgar way. Who listen to them will get the idea that all nicaraguans have that kind of remarkable bad education. Please don't form an opinion like that.

  • damn i do miss a lot my beautiful country!!!! de viaje se nota lo nica a esos maes!

  • This is the first time in my life that I hear there other places where you can find sharks in fresh water besides Nicaragua, but I wouldn' bet on that.

  • me 2

  • bull or tiger

  • bull - I don't think Tiger's can spend too much time in Freshwater like the bull's can. I have been to Nicaragua a few times and seen them first hand. A few years ago someone was bitten in Lake Michigan by a bull.

  • you can pretty much tell these people are pure nicaraguans by the way they can't finish a whole sentence without cursing or insulting someone...Te extrano Nicaragua!!!

  • yeah hhahahah

  • Hardly. Bull sharks swim up the USA's Mississippi. A verified bullshark was caught in Anton, illinois (North of St. Louis). Bullsharks are also regular denizens of the rivers of Afica's east Coast . In South Africa they are AKO Zambezi Sharks for their penchant to swim up the Zambezi River. Bullsharks are very common in Zulu Land's freshwater St. Lucia Inlet. Many attacks on humans blamed on the Nile crocodile are Bull shark attacks. Bullsharks have been caught 2,000-miles up the Amazon.

  • Must be a bullllll!!!!

  • is it really that hard to believe that there just might be something so different and special in Nicaragua just because its a third world country. I am from Nic. and have gone to Granada enough times to say its not frickin bullshit!

  • If you don't believe it just go and have swim.

  • @hufferz D:

  • This video is a fake. Whenever a shark swims at the surface, exposing its front dorsal fin, you can see the caudal lobe of its tail breaking the surface as well. That fin in this video was a poor fake at that.

  • its the real this man this happend a long time ago theres 1000's of sharks in fresh water lakes in nicaragua i've seeen them my self i'm from there.its not a joke its pretty bad ass

  • this vid is 100% real. I've been in this lake for at least 20 times and I can assure you that there are plenty sharks in there.

  • they are in granada here

  • You idiot its not fake there are really fresh water sharks in nicaragua. and their laughing because their drunk

  • they got fresh water dolphins in florida so yeah it could be real. absolutely.

  • i have be in Nicarauga its a lovely place!

  • at 1:17 u can see another one behind it

  • must be a bull shark. that's the only shark I know of that can tolerate fresh water. they are also found in the mississippi river in the united states. Its a very dangerous shark.

  • thats not true i heard differently

  • It is true. This is very trues. These sharks naturally live there.

  • whos the idiot who put the first shark in that like i would like to throw him in there

  • No one put a shark in there its a natural occurrence a few animals can actually swim into the lakes or river's for years at a time and go back to the salt water.

  • No one put a shark there. These are fresh water sharks. Nicaragua is the only country that has these. They moved into the lake from the ocean and became adapted. There are very few in the lake.

  • No Nicaragua isn't the only place where Bull Sharks will swim into fresh water lakes and rivers (via the rivers from the sea) India, USA (up to Lake Michigan sometimes! ) , Australia, Brazil (4200 KM up the Amazon) , amongst others. I believe they can survive indefinitely in fresh or brackish water, however it is believed they must return to salt water to breed.

  • @Chrstn64sails I watched a video in here I think on dangerous river creatures where they caught newly born young bullsharks in a river. they were quite shocked at that.

  • @Chrstn64sails You are right but nicaraguan sharks are the only one that dosent have exit to the ocean, the other sharks guet into lake but then leave in Nicaragua theres no way out for sharks also in Nicaragua there is another fish that belong to the ocean "The Sword Fish"

  • @Chrstn64sails The sharks in Lake Nicaragua they believe can now reproduce in the lake making it not necessary to return down the river. They have to jump back up the river like salmon.

  • @Chrstn64sails

They can't live forever in freshwater.

They can only store their salt content for long periods of time. If they stay too long in freshwater they may die,

  • @Chrstn64sails In Australia there are bull sharks that are breeding in rivers where they are trapped.

  • Se nota q son nicas!!! jajaja yo he estado alli un millon de veces y nunca he visto un tiburon, q suerte

  • jajaja clase jodedera q se tenian!!! Por eso me encanta mi gente, por JODEDORA!!!

  • Saludos Nicarga!!!

  • Clase relajo. Lol. I've been there too. Son lindas las Isleta De Granada!

  • I'VE BEEN THERE! Damn you ppl are straight up Nica lol. That place is awesome. Nice scenery

  • The bull sharks have been responsible for attacks and sightings in rivers(including the Mississippi). The Ganges River shark, Zambezi River shark, and Nicaragua freshwater sharks all believed to be bull sharks.

  • what s the name of the africa lake who have shark?

  • Tanganika

  • Ive been there... this is one of only two lakes in the world (the other in africa) that are confirmed to have sharks

  • I was there last winter Las Isletas of Granada, and on Ometepe same lake asked of Sharks they said they were rarely seen ,nice video

  • well that was a real shark.that lake is the onlyone in the world to have sharks in not salty water(oceans).so proud to be nicaraguan.

  • Is that in granada?

  • yes

  • i know tht lake

  • NICARGUA!

  • I've been in that lake.

  • Nicaragua isnt the only place where there lives fresh-water sharks. The bull shark is adapted to fresh- and saltwater. They have been found several thousand miles up the amazon aswell. But Lake Nicaragua is the only place where bullsharks live their full life-cyclus in fresh water. Reason for this is the reagents unique geographic location. The lake was once part of the ocean, and thus species got "trapped" after earthquakes, while the waters changed to fresh water slowly over thousands of years

  • Where did all the salt go?? Most oceans that get cut off and turned to lakes go the other way and turn super salty like the dead sea or even dry up altogether and become salt flats.

  • Sorry. Ichyologists have determined through GPS tagging that the Bullsharks regularly enter and leave lake nicaragua via the San Juan river.

  • @singolloman more then that they have full cycles

  • This little freshwater stream thing connects to the ocean at some point. Bull Sharks can take in fresh and salt water and are known for swimming down freshwater cannals connecting to the ocean.

  • Its a bull shark and they are more agresive then a great white

  • the only shark capable of surviving in fresh water and adapting its physiology to fresh water is the bull shark. it's one of the most deadly also and it is believed to actively predate on human beings in rivers such as the ganges.

  • bamboo sharks can adapt too mr. Iknoweveryrhing

  • that was kwl

  • Think ya better check that again, India parts of asia and north Australia all have freshwater sharks.

  • Yes its true but they don't reproduced them self in fresh water this actually reproduce them self

  • Check again ..um again.

  • @castellon3 That is 100% true. It is a very unique place.

  • Comment removed

  • @chrisdef15 It is also said since these sharks reproduce in freshwater and live most their lives there, if you put them in salt water they die, so it happened to the Japanese when they went there

  • Nicaragua is not the only place on earth.. Bull sharks can survive in fresh water

  • In Africa they get inside the river Nile, but they don't reproduce them-self, here in Nicaragua they reproduce them self, is the only part in the world ( check a map of Nicaragua) and they actually live there they don't go out to the sea.

  • Lake Nicaragua, despite being a freshwater lake, contains swordfish, tarpon, and sharks.

Yup, the bull shark is common in the coastal areas of oceans, in rivers, and lake (Nic) , and ocasionally streams. =)

  • Esta filmando la botella caballo haaaa, man I love being Nicaraguense
