  • This is the best version !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keith moon was a madman!

  • Managed to catch these guys live oh probably 7 or 8 times from 69 to 72...some of the best shows I ever saw...and hey I will be one of the few to admit I actually DIDN'T see them at Woodstock...picked the wrong summer to take the once in a lifetime chance to study in Europe and missed the once in a lifetime rock event eh...

  • 1 Fucking Dislike !....OK Bieber fess up and take a kicking like a man ...or should I say manboy

  • lo ricordo questo gruppo, dopo 41 - 42 anni non ricordo dove venne a cantare in Italia.

  • yes im an idiot, and proud to be not to like the crap that you think is great, seems you believe in the white dominated music media which has bigged up the who ect over the years, pushing aside the real guitar heroes, and black blues guys who shit all over there white 60's counterparts, as for townsend, he nicked the power chord from LINK WRAY and fucked it up, and just because the live at leeds was voted best album (by Who?) dont mean its the best ever, and thrash chords aint important either

  • the solo of entwistle and townshend are just awesome...R.I.P moon and jhon

  • townshend,moon,entwistle and daltrey=THE WHO=BEST BAND OF ALL TIME

  • Over many years of hearing/reading deluded statements from various people and various documentary's that say they know what there talking about regarding the Who etc and in particularly, Pete Townshend's guitar playing, i've come to the conclusion that he is one of the most uninspiring and technically difficient guitar players me and my friends have ever heard, and listening to this version of SHAKIN' ALL OVER is a disgusting debuncle of a great song, Johnny Kidds in hell burning with anger

  • @SINNERSTRONG Right on, son. The Who were, are and remain THE most overrated band of all time and this particular "cover" version stinks the house out. Townshend should stick to what he does best - and we all know what that is, don't we!

  • @SINNERSTRONG

And I have come to the conclusion you are an idiot. First of all, live at leeds is and has been voted one of the greatest live albums of all time. Other great artists, rolling stone and virtually everyone else with any merit will tell you. As far as Pete is concerned, he is one of the most IMPORTANT guitar players of our time. Townshend. Pete took power chords to a new level, he basically invented feedback within modern music. A leader in punk music and rock itself!

  • These guys rock... they are the real deal!

  • This is MY GENERATION's music- the best there ever was...

  • best live recording ever.

  • Great lead guitar by Townshend!

  • I wholeheartedly agree....honorable mention....Allman Brothers At The Fillmore East 1971....

  • Beg to differ but Guess Who's version was better...know this will bring consternation to Who fans....

  • best version i've ever heard, by far.

  • John Entwistle > Precision Bass strung with Roto-Sounds and with a PICK...!!!

  • One the best live albums ever recorded. The Who at their raunchiest!

  • Is Entwistle using a plectrum here?

  • The best version out there. the Guess Who is pretty good too!

  • One of the greatests albums live ever, Im loocking for it in CD for a long time ago.

  • wow freaking great

  • My favorite live album in my vinyl collection....Just ignore the scratches, they're there for looks!

  • alembic

  • @adamtzsch no precision

  • sry i was retarded then now I'm just drunk and I can still play better than these Limeys

  • NUH UH MAN! No you can't! You're a PHONEY!

  • They were in there PRIME!!!

  • I play drums the best,like Keith,sloppy

  • I can play the guitar part and sing...u'd like it :)

  • this is the WHO

  • @Syzygy60 yes your right it is the WHO

  • I'm always reading "Drunkin'esk remarks degrading musicians who sold out concerts and millions of records being cursed and ridiculed!" If you don't like it, just listen to who you LIKE, and then ppl won't have to listen to your constant complaining.

  • I'M OVER 60. I SAW ALL OF THE BANDS AND PICKING THE BEST ISN'T POSSIBLE, BUT "LIVE" THEY WERE IN THE TOP 3! THEY WERE F**KING SERIOUS! NOBODY WAS BETTER'S AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET. 4 lead players battling for top billing. These guys were SO wound up, it's no wonder Kieth Moon was just what they needed to make them so perfectly WILD!

  • @mrkystrky LUCKY! *sigh* Come on, they HAD to be the best?

  • @mrkystrky

    AMEN!

  • humble pie? frampton? seger? better versions?

i guess everyone's entitled to an opinion but does it have to be a batshit crazy opinion?

  • live at leeds is like being beaten about the head and shoulders with a studded whip- and loving it!

  • Frampton sold the Most

  • Bob Seger Live Bullet is up there

  • @Syzygy60 Granted, you needed to be there to compare.

  • amazing cover! This shows the true power of The Who back in their hey day, and how much of a beast keith moon was!

  • Best live album ever. EVER!

  • @stoprejectingmynames - I love this album. Alot of sound for guitar, bass and drums. However, i'll take Humble Pie Performance Rockin the Fillmore as the best ever.

  • If you hav ANY sense at all, "Live At Leeds" is one of your favorite recordings!

  • johnny kid and the pirates were and big influence on pete in his early days

  • Kieth moon is a beast.

  • no no no this song was written by johnny kidd and the pirates as a piss take to gene vincents nervous twitch, hence late 50's jamming session and watching an old git called gene shakin all over the stage. actually true

  • @blueeyedjohn1 i read somewhere johnny said it was inspired by how when they'd look at a pretty girl, they'd say they were shakin' down to their insides...basically a reaction to seeing a pretty girl.

  • This song was actually written by the Guess Who! Surprised?

  • This IS one of the great live albums. I,for one, would like to put a vote in for Otis Redding's "Live in Europe".

  • February 14, 2010.... 40 years ago right about now... Feb 14, 1970. God what I'd give to have been at Leeds for this show. No better live album that Live at Leeds.

  • Greatest rock 'n roll live album ever? Absolutely

But Neil Young's "Time Fades Away" has to be in contention for the best live album ever. Turn off the lights, close your eyes, and listen to "Don't be denied". If you don't cry, you're not human.

  • I don't have my hopes up "but" if they HAVE to do the Super Bowl Shit. Lot's of shakin' in the NFL, sidelines Too. This, and, I can see for Miles,(arguably one of the most underrated songs of all time) and I can die a happy man.

  • Such a tour-de-fuckin'-force! Keith's splendid drumming, John's "rhytmic" bass playing, Roger's gut-bucket vocals and Pete-- Oh my God, Pete!-- absolutely shredding! Cover, shmover, on this night The Who owned "Shakin' All Over"!

  • Still Greatest LIVE album ever, but alas after 40 years still waiting for that Macca Cameo at 2:30-2:51. Is Pete still perturbed he never showed? :)

  • what do you mean 'Macca Cameo'? as in paul mccartney?

  • Right you are...2:30-2:51...great "Get Back" cover.....right?

  • @Westsidekid67 Damn! How could I have not noticed that before? Very cool!

  • The Who greatest live band ever

  • such an awesome cover!!!!

  • yeah,everyone knows that :)

  • The base lines are indescribable! On the same LP, 'Magic Bus' you can hear that great tone out of the bass. This is so gooood

  • @turbines123 Or "bass lines"...

  • Greatest live album ever.

  • Hmmm, maybe youre right ...

  • @chrook maybe not the best, but maybe top 10....and it definitely rocks!

  • I was 10, down in the basement of house with Guild acoustic strapped on while this MASTERPIECE blared from the turntable - couldn't play the songs; instead, I thrashed the hell outta my Guild and many times came close to smashing it into oblivion. That's what THE WHO LIVE AT LEEDS could do to a young rock n' roller / musician who still plays, records etc. only this time my guitar is a Guild Aviator, red, heavy metal guitar, sort of a Stratocaster body. Now I can play TWLALEEDS. IT STILL ROCKS!!

  • Cover or not.... These guys really had IT!!! RIP Keith and John!!!

  • Its a jam...sit back and rock n roll!

  • shakin all over is a cover by the GUESS who, originally by johnny kidd and the pirates

  • i've got the original 1970 vinyl...gotta love it!!!

  • how to keep a beat by Keith Moon--study up lads

  • He keeps the beat moving along for sure but also accents the vocals during the chorus, as well as buiding up a rhythmic backdrop for the instrumental section.Quite remarkable, as Mooney always was.

  • beelzabubba, Excellent comment! Good knowledge.

  • LOOOOOOVE the way John plays "rhythm" on his bass during Pete's solo. Awesome!

  • Of course this is the Who.

  • @theseeker23 yh coz thats roger daltry singing aint it?

  • @theseeker23 Thanks alot for this- this fucking rocks this is the who when their in Overdrive, and keith moon tears it up with the drums thats right- I mean ASS-RITE!!!!!!!

  • This is the who, you must have the remastered version of this or something.

  • No, I've got this record from in all shapes and forms, the vinyl, the 95 cd release and the new deluxe double disc release, this song has not changed.

  • dude wtf

  • oh okay my bad, i guess i do have the remastered version, sorry

  • @mbutler1023 : This must be from a different concert then, because the drums, bass, guitar and vocals are unmistakeably the Who. Especially the drums. No one plays drums like Keith Moon.

  • @mbutler1023 ...... LOL what do you think? they played Leeds One Time? You're a Funny Butler!!!!!

  • @mbutler1023 ha ha ha....

  • Best live? Yes ...

But don't forget teh Rolling Stnes

and: "Get Her Ya Yas Out"!

  • the who covering the guess who

    WHAAAAAT?

  • No mate! It's a version of a Johnny Kidd and the Pirates song from 1960. The Who would have heard it as teenagers on the goood old BBC not from the Guess Who...

  • true! but the who and the guess who liked to do covers of each others songs. it was a small joke between them because their band names are so alike.

  • yeah!

  • THE WHO !!!

  • whom??? LOL j/k

  • nice

  • Loved the replicas inserted into the Live At Leeds album... the WhoPoster, etc. This piece stands on its own. Rock On!

  • Best live album ever. The Who took no prisoners.

  • Just about the best Live album, for sure!

The first MC5 album was Live and it was super!

  • The Stones? Live? Seriously. Couldn't carry The Who's equipment.Taylor was a great slide player but there are numerous others like Joe Walsh at least as good.

  • chuck berrys a 1958 skeloton

  • From the first notes: Maximum R&B!

  • Love it

  • THIS IS ROCK!!!
