  • I heard tht the deisels hav like no power compared 2 a 350 is this true???

  • @xXLEVERACTION78Xx

Hey man, These are the 6.2L stock non tubo diesel V.S. a 350 gas comparasons

350's have alot more HP and probably a little more torque,

350's weight a serious amount more

They probably last about as long as each other

6.2L's are more reliable, as the fuel injection system is mechinaical, and simple, and there is no ignition systems.

6.2L's can go through any amount of water, running 100% perfect, as long as none sucks in the intake.

6.2L's run cooler, don't over heat as easy

  • @tommartyn no the 6.2 is going to have more torque then the 350

  • @xXLEVERACTION78Xx

6.2L's are really good on fuel, ESPECIALLY compared to 350's. For most people the less power is a fair trade for the higher MPG.

They sound much cooler then 350's (in my opinion at least.)

And diesel's are just cooler in general.

350's are all over the place, they're in everything. Its boring.

  • Nice truck I just bought an 86

  • what year is this i got a 1986 blazer but what year is this

  • @mark12130

I think it was an 84.

  • @tommarty o okay

  • ok

  • oh wow you drove thru water dont you feel like a big boy now

  • @FPUGUY

I don't know, you left a tough guy comment on a video, how you feeling?

  • @tommartyn haha i dont know either, just that the title doesnt realy decribe it well says mud bog but its a water bog lol

  • @FPUGUY

Eh, theres mud at the bottom of the water, its not like its paved or something, but yeah, i guess its not a lot of mud. I could change it i suppose. Might be kinda confusing though if it says water bog

  • nice lookin truck!!! adlest the guy at the end wasnt a dick

  • @m15a1nv

Thanks! yeah, he was an ok dude. I think it helped alot that we were respectful and all. actually drove up to talk to him, instead of just taking off or something. Always pays not to be a douche bag :)

  • checkin the PH levels lol

  • i can smell the engine where im at

  • @OnlyAKnife

    :) hahah,you don't like diesels?

  • @tommartyn i love it, its makes me feel like im back in the country with my dad and we're running in his bronco or his friends silverado 94 i think it is? im not sure, its been a long time

  • @OnlyAKnife

hahah, awesome man. glad i could bring back some good memories. This field and mud hole, is actually where when i was a kid, i used to go with my dad in most of his different vehicles, but especially the 79 Trailduster, and we would rip around like crazy out there, get stuck, get pulled out, pull out other people. just have a good time

  • @tommartyn sounds just like us, country boy heaven

  • Nice video editing man and sees to be a good running blazer as well Just did a 50 dollar paint job on my 85 k5 350 one I've took it through some pretty rough stuff around here in tennessee and she always comes out without a hitch unlike my glorified 4 wheeler/cj5 lol but love em both but ain't nothing like a k5 sorry to disappoint you jeep boys out there, the jeep does come in handy around tight stuff though and narrow trails

  • @spoonman72

hell yeah, diesels do run perfect pretty much as long as the fuel filters aren't clogged :)

Nice! Gotta be awesome having the power of the 350. The 6.2L's have some power, but the 350's can really rip.

I took my diesel Jetta down to tennessee 2 years or so ago, and did some romping up a dirt/mud hill climb thing. Pretty fun.

  • that thing needs a turbo or two!

  • @DanDanNissanMan

Yeah, but 6.2l's with turbo's last about 3 days :) At least when you're getting on them.

But nissans! You could probably throw a turbo on a 3L v6 in a 4x4 pickup without wrecking the engine in anyway :) Those are some awesome engines man

  • @tommartyn oh really, why is that? Thought those blocks would be bullet proof being so big! Ha ha cant get these sorts of trucks in New Zealand mate other wise i wouldnt own a nissan!! ; D

  • @DanDanNissanMan

They might be bullet proof, but they don't have very good lubrication for some of the crank bearings. If you put a turbo on them, they tend to fail... :( they're known for going through alot of head gaskets too. And they don't have all that much power (without a turbo) but we do like them :) Sound very cool, and who doesn't like a diesel? :)

Nah, nissan's are far better made trucks. And they can seriously out off road an american truck with ease :) Lightweight and all

  • @tommartyn Yeah diesels the way to go!! Have a look at my videos of my nissan!

  • @tommartyn

There's to 600,000km on my dad's dually 87 6.2L and the engine has never been rebuilt. Plus the 6.2L exhaust note goes really well with the K5's aggressive looks!

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

Yeah man, for sure :) Anytime i hear a gas powered K5, its really dissapointing. And i don't care if the 350's have more power and all, Still, i love that 6.2L... Freaking awesome engine. :) 600K Kilo's? What, does it think its a cummins or something ;)

  • @tommartyn nah we just took good care of the truck, it was never driven in the winter, Never took on loads it couldn't handle, we just hauled a 30 footer goose neck camper, 25 foot goose neck trailer, boat and that's about it. Most of the time it was a summer daily driver. (my dad was the only teacher at his school with a dually crew cab truck :P before he retired) It didn't have much pick-up and go, but just the sound of the engine made up for taking 20 seconds to reach 60 mph.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

    Damn right man :)

  • I HEAR CANADIAN GESSE!!! !

  • So a K5.. is that like a 3500?

  • @braaup

    :) nah, a K30 is called a 3500 now a days. The K stands for 4wd, a C would stand for 2wd

    K10 1500 4x4 1/2 ton

    K20 2500 4x4 3/4 ton

    K30 3500 4x4 1 ton

and the K5 is just a blazer or a jimmy. Their built out of the truck's, but they're way smaller, so they give them the 5 rating, But i don't think it means they are 1/4 ton or anything. Maybe it does though.

  • how big is the lift? suspention or body?

  • @rubypuppy7

supposedly it had no lift. The back seemed like maybe a 2 inch suspension lift, but it really could have been stock. It certainly wasn't high.

  • thanks , a friend just ordered one for me, i will see if its the right one , if not see if your friend may have one for 1984 , has the yellow lights in grill not bumper, thanks again for looking for me,

  • hey tommy, if you still have that k5 and are going to junk it, i could buy the grill and hood from you, my email- david_obbar@yahoo.com, thanks mine is a 84 scottsdale almost same truck, bye.

  • @ddavidobbar

    Hey,

Nah, sorry, this beast has been gone for a long while now. But drew's had a bunch of different K5's and K10's, so i'll ask him if he's still got any grills or hoods around.

  • wow didnt know u had a k5 haha thats cool check out mine

  • @green2stroke

Drew had 3 K5's, all diesel, and 2 K10's both diesel. Definitely liked the beasts alot :)

Yours looks perfect man! Thing is in good shape!

  • @tommartyn i cant find the vids of the k 10s but ya haha i want to put mine in some mudd but its just to clean right now

  • @green2stroke

haha, yeah, it can be a tough decision when your truck is really clean... but eventually man, the mud will win out :)

  • @tommartyn haha ur right but we have an old harbody 4x4 nissan that we beat around il try to make some vids of it this winter haha so my blazer will probably never see mudd that nissan does work man

  • lift it high let er mud!!!!!!!!!!

  • the video would have been even more epic if you had muted the first part and played music over it but sick vid still!!

  • @Petoria2K8

Yeah, i never thought about that before, but it would go awesome with some music there. Maybe i'll work on that, thanks!

  • how bout a roll cage if you are going to have people in the back....dumb ass

  • @ctesdahl1026

How about Have fun with a truck, and there is no reason on earth that that thing was going to roll from what we were doing.

Seriously? I can't believe you're serious... These people wanted to ride in this beast, and you decide to senselessly bitch about it. Fucking Stupid

  • @ctesdahl1026 Why? So they can hit their head on the roll bars and be knocked unconscious or possibly be crushed by them if the truck rolls over? Dumbass is one word, dumbass.

  • @SakoTGrimes

hahah, yeah, pretty much. Plus the roof above the front seats bassicallyworks as a roll bar anyway, so theres no reason for him to complain about it anyway... freaking people man.

  • @SakoTGrimes ......well i cant spell...never said i could....but a roll cage is always a good thing...if you did any hard wheelin you would know that...but with those pussy ass tires im guessing you get stuck alot

  • @ctesdahl1026 Thems fightin words

  • The begining of the vid is a little strange but hell I love that truck.

  • sweet bumper sticker.lol

  • they need to make gorrilla silverbacks tires for trucks

  • why did you not give him the keys and say have fun? The owners actions earn respect. He had every right to call the cops but he did not. He chose to talk one on one. You were respectful as well. Go back and film him in your blazer....now that would be amazing.

  • @everynameipickisunav

:) i think we thought about that. But i don't think he would have taken us up on that offer. He wasn't the actual owner, he was just renting it from my one Aunt. He called her and She said to call the cops right away. but luckily he was a good guy, and came back to talk to us. As soon as we saw someone walking down, we stopped, and drove nicely up to him. Normally people would probably just take off.

It really would have been awesome to have footage of him romping!

  • lame!

  • do u still have this k5

  • how can anybody hate Chevy, Chevy are the best American made car

  • @facotime

Chevys and other GM vehicles are pretty awesome for sure, but there are alot of other American company's that are awesome too. I'm a big Willys fan, they made some awesome stuff. And a really huge old (pre 81) chrysler fan. (chrysler, plymouth, dodge)

  • @tommartyn ford all the way!

    i have a 78 bronco 8" lift

40" hawgs and will go anywhere with no problem!

  • @TheViciousPaintballa

you put an 8 inch lift, and 40 inch crazy tires on anything, and ANYTHING will go anywhere with no problem :)

As far as stock trucks go, with no lift, and no special tires, 79-87? Toyota pickups will out romp any other stock truck thats ever been made. They are truely amazing machines.

  • i HATE chevy but ill give it to ya thats a nice truck

  • @dragata1

that thing really was alot of fun man :)

  • @tommartyn sweet hey what was your first car or truck my frist ride was a lawnmower toped out at 67mph lol 18hp briggs

  • @dragata1

haha, nice. 67 on a riding mower... Sounds safe :)

My first car or truck was the 76 or 77 ramcharger i had :) 360, 4 speed manual, no front drive shaft. The thing was awesome. I probably topped it out at 37MPH in the field :) Most of the time that thing didn't have brakes. But we've probably had about 200 cars/trucks through here since then.

My first ride was a Bolens 1050. 10HP, maxed out at 6.7MPH when the governor was reving up.

  • @tommartyn awsome yea 67 is safe to me 7speed tranny its awsome but tranny loves to grind so my moto is if u cant find it GRIND IT

  • How much would a Diesel K5 set me back?

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

I don't really know, it could vary. this thing was 550 bucks i think. Good deal too.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD i found them in the range of $1900$-3000 im in california

  • I have an 87 K5.

Do yall still have this beast?

  • @Mississippi1313

    Nice! Is it diesel?

We haven't had this thing for a while now. it was a blast though!

  • @tommartyn

    Nah it has a 350.

It has 36" Super Swamper TSL SX's

    Oh. Get another one!

  • Thats truck has nuts, I had a 78' K5 350 and that bitch had balls.

  • @igetmoney361

For sure man, Blazers are pretty badass

  • The PH level; must have been good, cause you walked through that !!! HAHA

  • @cdab1985

haha, yeah... It had a pretty solid bottom. We didn't know what to expect when we first dropped in there.

  • @tommartyn Didn't look like you sank anymore than how deep the water was.. Must have been pretty hard.

  • @cdab1985

Yeah, that was over at my grandfathers house, but its like that here too come to think about it. Around this area Its all shale under neath the mud. so bassically, if you dig down a little bit, your hitting a pretty solid surface... In most places anyway :) There are some deep mud areas where you can get stuck.

  • @tommartyn

Thoes frames do really well no matter what you are in. I have a 79 frame under my 51 Chevy. 350 small block, not the diesel. And you have to be really deep for that thing to get stuck. Check it out.

  • damn you're a retard

  • @fukiu45

I don't know man... It kinda seems like the reverse to me.

  • @tommartyn yeah nice comeback.

  • @fukiu45

Thats how it works, Shitty pointless insult, gets the same back.

Its stupid for sure, but i didn't start it.

  • nice mud hole and nice truck

  • that thing sounds good.its almost like a 350.great video.

  • Comment removed

  • @linuxh4x0r

    Wrong video? :)

  • @tommartyn DOH! I have a million tabs open in firefox and put this in the wrong one.... I probably put the comment for here in the other one...

Nice truck though. I'd never mud my 96 suburban (6.5 detroit turbo diesel) since its so new (48k!!!), but that looks like a lot of fun!

  • @linuxh4x0r

haha, nice. yeah, i spent a few minutes trying to figure the comment out, then decided it had to be a mistake. :) that kind of stuff happens to me with tons of tabs in firefox as well, it gets pretty confusing.

Its fun stuff man! maybe someday when the suburban is older it might be ready to rip some stuff up!

  • There's no other sound like a 6.2L diesel out there. Definitely one of the best sounding engines ever.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

Couldn't agree more :) It is an awesome sound.

Drew just donated his 82 K10 to the field, so we should have some awesome videos of that beast soon :)

  • @tommartyn

    Can't wait. I'm 16 right now, but I'm looking for a K5 with a 6.2 as my first car.

So far, all I could find locally were Blazers with 350's. The average price around my area is about 500 - 2000$ Hopefully I'll find one that suits me.

And once I find it the first thing I'm going to do is swap the rear end for one from a 3500 and convert my blazer into a dually blazer. I already have the fiber glass fenders and the 3500 rear end!

  • nice i have an 84 army k5 with the 6.2lt just haveing someproblems with it starting burned up two starters

  • @st0ner4life

ah man, THAT sucks. those starter's have to be crazy expensive. The regular k5 12 volt starters for the 6.2's are alot. but a 24 volt one has to be crazy.

Whats wrong with how it starts? are the glow plugs bad?

  • @tommartyn yeah the glow plugs them selvies aint bad but the wiring to them are and the people that had it before me sprayed ether to it just making that much worse and me my self i dont know too much about a diesel i have always worked on gas burners so i am really lost trying to work out the problems this whole 24v system has me scratching my head most of the time and yeah the starters are crazy high but i know if i can get it right it will be a hard truck to stop off road

  • @st0ner4life i think my friend drew's one blazer, and his K10 pickup had bad wiring, or a bad solenoid for the glow plugs. he just kept a jumpercable under the hood, on the positive of the left battery, and when he'd go to start it he'd pop the hood, and pop the other end o the cable off of the glow plug wire rubber, and put it on the side that goes to the plugs for 15 seconds or so. on his the solenoid was on the inner fender, near the hood on the left side.

Yeah! Hard to stop for sure :)

  • @tommartyn thanks for the advice man will give it a shot any thing that will help start that monster and and give that starter some releaf will be a life saver for me from what i have seen that truck do she is worth the trouble

  • thsts kul vid

  • i have a 83 diesel k5 also and to be honest i think the do better in the mud than gas blazers ...i have staight pipes turned up pump and ram air 190 horse other that that its stock with 33" baja claws and i run circles around bigger more built trucks

  • @unibuga

Nice! 190 HP, not bad! they really do have alot of grunt to them. i think that helps alot in mud.

  • i have a 83 diesel k5 also and to be honest i think the do better in the mud than gas blazers ...i have staight pipes turned up pump and ram air 190 horse other that that its stock with 33" baja claws and i run circles around bigger more built trucks

  • 1:20 You think its too deep?" 1:29 fuck it!!"

  • yeah whatever

  • the 6.2 really doesnt have a lot of power

  • @brad11344

in comparison to some other engines thats true. but this thing did have a good amount of power. It could powerbreak it posi, and could fuck some shit up in the mud. For how little fuel they use, and how crazy they sound, they are some awesome engines for sure. And they're not disgustingly average like 350's.

  • @brad11344 ya i was surprised as to how much mudthat thing threw up, they are badass sounding, but if you get them with a turbo it would be awesome. i had a k5 with a 400sb it was fun

  • @brad11344

Nice! we knew a guy who had a 400 in a k10 (i think a 10 could have been a 20) and that thing was mean sounding. i'll send you the video we have of it pulling us out one time. pulling out a different 6.2, and a ramcharger with a 318, no rear driveshaft, and no reverese :)

Yeah, drew had another k5 with a banks turbo i think on it, and it seized up a main bearing... they don't take the turbo thing so well. the 6.5's have better lubrication, and hold up to a turbo better.

  • the bottems hard

  • Great video too bad the truck is gone

  • @OSDCrusher

Thanks! Yeah, it was an awesome blazer... It was around for 3 or 4 years after the video though :) we had alot more fun with it.

  • be careful because water is not good for diesel motors

  • @conquercommand

sort of,:) drew had an 82 pickup with a 6.2L, and went through a flooded creek crossing, sucked up alot of water, and hydrolocked it.then it sat for a few months like that, till we finally thought to take out eh glowplugs and crank the water out. then it started right up :) and ran fine.

  • torque out the ass

  • at least when you guys got caught it was not the sheriff

me and some buddies were wheeling in a subdivision and almost got some expensive trespassing tickets. ill never go back there again

  • like, how many miles to the gallon do you get when your on pavement, not in ponds=p

  • @M0XAS

i think they get about 14-16 MPG, though i think some people say they get 20.

  • mine gets 23 but i dont drive for milage

    epa sticker says 21 30 i think

  • how fuel efficient is this?

  • whats that? How fuel efficient is the truck, or how we're driving it? :)

  • get some real tires on that thing!!!!!

  • Those diesels were known to be junk in that time too. Take an Olds 350, they drop right in. Amazing power increase

  • I'm kind of a big fan of diesel's in general, and the fuel mileage and all. Not really a fan of GM gas v8's so much. Plus, the axles and drive shafts couldn't take the 6.2's power, i really wouldn't be looking forward to even more busted parts.

  • Haha... I understand. I got a 77 K10 with a 350 and its wicked on gas! I get 9 to 12 mpg depending on the mood of the truck...lol. I think mine has the same front end tho. But I will put it in anything...lol.

  • i wish there were people like that around me, i get cops on my ass in seconds

  • man that guy is cool as hell about you being there... everywhere I go either a hunter pops out of no were with a shotgun or the damn cops come... Most of the time it is both... LoL

  • Yeah, he was pretty decent. He was renting that property off of my Great aunt, and he called her when he saw us back there, and she told him to call the cops, but he told her that he'd just go out and talk to us first. Then when i saw him walking down, i told drew to drive up to him, instead of just running. i think that helped. Then we weren't assholes to him, just told him that i'd been coming there my whole life, and it was my family, and he let us know she didn't want us there. Worked out

  • if you broke the tranny in this little pond mud hole w/e you want to call it that thing sucks balls

  • It was a fun truck, but the transmission, and front axle were junk.

  • What kind off exhaust is on this

  • what a punk just try to have some good ol country fun damnit and wtf is wrong wit that

  • What did you use to create the video and edit it?

  • i used my Macintosh G4, 867MHZ (i think) and Quicktime for all of it except encoding. I used quicktime to record the footage from my sony digital 8MM camcorder, and edited it in quicktime, then saved it as a stand alone full quality file. minus what i cut out. The reason the sound looses sync, is because i recorded over part of the tape, accidentally in my room, and Quicktime doesn't react well to Abrupt unexpected returns to other footage with different timecodes. Imovie works better.

  • is that why you asked?

  • hey man what happened to the blazer?

  • well, it stopped shifting for a few weeks from this mild beating in the mud hole. then drew somehow found out it was some easily replaceable piece that could be unbolted from the outside, and swaped out. he did that. then it might have lose reverse at some point... but the front axle broke. the ujoints near the wheels broke, and some other ujoints broke. got bashed into alot of stuff. then one day, drew took the intake manifold off, and the hood i think. it rained in the engine... sad..

  • Tom I have to go Muddin in that!!!

  • we aren't aloud in the mud hole, and the Blazer is long gone... sorry :(

  • lol that man looked like he wanted the driver seat

  • haha, yeah, it kinda looked like he was going to commandeer it. :)

  • people always want to ruin your fun atleast it wasnt a cop with a couple trespassing tickets

  • Yeah it sucks too, because this is a place i always used to go with my dad in his Trailduster when i was a kid. True True! cop situation would have sucked.

  • Nice! i've got a Diesel K5 sitting in my driveway with a GM crate motor in it.

  • Nice man!! Is it a 6.2, or 6.5?

  • it s a 6.2 according to the valve cover. I'm gonna try to get it rust free and turbo it in the future. only thing missing is money.

  • awesome! just wondering because i saw a suburban one time that someone put a 6.5 in, and it wasn't turbo. which was cool. from what i've heard all 6.5's in vehicles came turbo. I really don't recomend putting a turbo on the 6.2. it will give it alot more power, but they are known to seriously break with turbo's on them. one of the main bearings will seize up, and crack the block.. its bad news. If its got plenty of power as it is, i'd leave it.

yep, Money's always the missing thing :)

  • i may leave it. it runs great so i'll leave it be for now. i had to change the injection pump on it as the one on there was rusted inside from water in the fuel. Only major thing left is body work to get rid of the rust.

  • Wow, cool it's a stock diesel! You don't see those much. Too bad that guy put the kibosh on your fun. At least he wasn't a dick about it.

  • yeah, my great aunt or what ever she is, that owns that land, was telling him to call the cops, when he called her and said we were back there romping. She sucks. we see alot of 6.2 powered blazers down here. drew has had 3 :) and 2 pickups. none of them were stick though...

  • is this thing still around? i love K5's i wanna get my hands on one soon hopefully.

how old is this video? lol some of your videos look older.

  • They really are awesome things man! crazy perfect running machines, that don't care about water. diesel ones anyway.

This vid is from a few years ago. we have ALOT of footage, and most of it is on my computer. sometimes i look through them and realize, HEY, this is awesome i should upload it. theres alot of stuff that is only a few days old when i upload it too. sometimes, rarely, that day i'll get footage up. but some could be 9 years old... :) crazy thinking about it.

  • wow i love K5 blazers. I hope to get my hand on one of those with a 6.2.... would be a perfect truck.

is this thing still around? and how old are these videos you upload.. some look new

    some look older lol!

  • 0:50 WTF! lol

    Kick his ass Tom!

  • all this footage was actually shot by this guy steve oleary. he sold me this camera about a year later. and i'm not as good of a camera dude as him at all. he had some really awesome creative ideas. used all te cameras features. i suck, i just film stuff. haha, but it all made for a cool video :)

  • yeah, but he is a worthless piece of shit and a waste of a life.

  • cool a 6.2 K5 non military spec. Those where pretty fun except being a half ton. those old square chevys are pretty tough what is it like a 1984?

  • thats true man, no 24 volt action here. the front axles on these half ton chevys suck. without a doubt. they are heavy and weak. But the truck was a blast! And this thing could powerbreak posi! as it was limited slip in the rear :)

Yep, 84 i think. good call!

  • listen to that beast roar!

to bad you didnt have a dodge with a 12 valve cummins. that would be intense

  • I've always wanted an original ramcharger (74-81) with a cummins in it. Stick. That would be the best thing ever... for sure. sucks that there wasn't any diesel ramchargers... seems like the perfect idea.

  • Wow all the engines I own do not even displace 6.2 litres.

    D: I feel insignificant

  • haha, i wouldn't feel too insignificant. it only had a max of about 160 HP. a crazy amount of torque though. the main thing was that it was diesel. :) got around 15 MPG or more maybe, and had no ignition stuff to get wet at all. so it liked water :)

  • fu*king sweet fun!

  • yeah! that thing was pretty much pure fun :) it took some beatings!
