His date of birth is given as 4/18/59, and his date of death as 4/30/64. He either died a few days AFTER his fifth birthday, or he lived for a couple weeks after the fall.

oh i know, i just don't think i could have survived losing most of my children. look at the lincolns, they had five children(maybe six-i've heard about a daughter who also died young, but havent' found any other citings of her), and only one lived to adulthood. it is just interesting what the two families had in common.

I just finished reading the 1948 book by Harnett T. Kane "Bride of Fortune" A novel based on the life of Mrs. Davis.

Very interesting reading. History remembers the men but often loses track of the bright articulate strong women behind them.

I didn't actually forget ~Jim~. I should have at least mentioned him in the vid. The story of how ~Jim~ became a part of the Davis family is an interesting one. Also shows the good character of Jefferson & Varina to take the little boy in, and treat him as one of the family.
